Let's hope the title of this RE film means that this version of the franchise will DIE :cmad: .

I'm so sick to death of studios treating games like garbage. Why can't studios give games the 'comic' treatment and make a good/great game to film adaptation.

Without a doubt, IMO, the most high profile game to film adaptation is the Resident Evil series. Now, when i first heard that there was going to be an RE movie, I was reallky looking forward to it. Then, i we got some scrren shots of the film. And some info leaked out about it. I thought, 'sweet jesus, what are they doing to RE.'

But, i still had to give it a chance. I watched it, and after that, i really wanted to beat the living ***** out of Paul Anderson and the studio execs. How could they turn a brilliant games franchis into a terrible movie franchise.

To this day, i don't understand how the studio (Sony believe it or not) could turn down this script done by horror genius George A. Romero:

The script: http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/resident_evil_romero.html

This script was faithful to the game, but also seemed to add depth to the characters. Sure, some things seemed altered, but you expect that with an adaptaion. I would have loved to have seen this.

Instead we got tha Paul W Anderson treatment. He ended up producing and writing the sequel, which was worse than the first film, and now he's writing the the third, Extinction. Paul Anderson should never be allowed anywhere near a camera again.

Since i've seen the first 2 (only the first one on the cinema, the other in another method :cwink: ) i will see this third installment (through another method :cwink: ). But, i just know it'll be piss poor.

Hopefully, a good director will come around in the near future, and see the potential of the RE series and give us something that is both fun, scary and intrigueing.

And hopefully, games in general (the good ones) will get the treatment that comics are getting.

i loved the movies....

i watch them every now and then.

I like like the first Resident Evil, wasn't too crazy about the sequel, however.

The first RE movie was okay, and the second one was pretty awesome. At least they are true to the game in some aspects. Just watch the features on the DVD's. I can't wait until the third one drops in theatres next year.

the changes in directors sort of bothers me though......

couldnt they have kept one single director for all 3(4?) movies?

I don't know. I didn't like what they did with the first movie, even though it was okay, but the second movie with that director was awesome.

i liked both equally....

the first was very sleek and felt alot more horror-ish and everything was all clausterphobic(sp??) and mysterious...

the second was more like the games and very fun and enjoyable, but lacked what made the first so good.

the same director would have prob. kept the same tone throughout the franchise

The first one was passable, barely. The second one is honestly an appalling movie, possibly one of the worst I have ever seen.

I expect nothing ground breaking from the third, well I don't expect anything...let alone ground breaking.

The movie will rock the socks, and sell alot.

i dont see it being bad thats for sure

There are too many people that are fans of the movie. Trust me, this movie won't do good, it will do great! This is one of the movies that is action packed and people like that.

i just hope it stays a bit closer to the first......

so far from the BTS clip.... it looks like a very brown movie

I dunno.....I was just so disappointed in the second.

The first was good. But, the second just got waaaayyyy too Sci-Fi action on me. Barely Horror after Alice got her super powers.

If you ask me. They should scrap this series and go with Leo from Resident Evil 4.

**** it. Make Resident Evil 4 EXACTLY the way it is.....only put it onscreen.

Worse than BloodRayne? I doubt it. I enjoyed both RE movies.

What Romeros version looked like to me was that the characters where the same and given added depth.

Some of the characters didn't die at the start like in the game, but we needed tyo see people die along the way.

The RE's Anderson gave where not faithful enough to the games. Most poeple on the boards complain about the fact that some comic films don't stick close enough to the source materiel. Well, IMO, they stick closer to the source than Anderson did with the source material for RE.

I'm going on a rant coz, i'll say again, i felt the RE games could've been translated to film brilliantly. The only other games series that culd be translated better to the screen is Metal Gear. However, if Metal Gear gets the 'Anderson treatment', then games to film will never be taken seriously.

I have no hope for the 3rd RE film. I gave the first one a chance, went into the 2nd one with no expectations (and still felt incredibly disapointed) and will only watch the third one out of curiosity (by watching it through evil means)

I know i'm ranting, but i can't help it.

Well I haven't seen BloodRayne so it cannot be included in the worst movies I have ever seen. I have seen the second Resi movie, and that can be included in the worst movies I have ever seen.

I was constantly laughing all the way through it, that's not a good sign for what it was supposed to be.

Too true. But instead of laughing, my face was a picture of anger and disgust... and laughter (not in a good way)

By the way, your sig made me laugh (in a good way :woot: ). Legend

Oh yeah, when Alice and Nemesis started going at it.....HAND TO HAND!!! I was thinking to myself wtf.

Oh and yes, BlackAdder is pure awesomeness. Just one of many legendary quotes from the series'.

I thought after the first RE we would receive a better quality film.

Then once I saw Nemesis and how they made him into the typical moronic killing machine monster, it killed whatever expectations I had for the film. I'm all for a restart somewhere down the line.

When Alice and Nemesis began fighting I was like, "Since when did Nemesis become a master of martial arts?"

The Nemesis I know is a ruthless vicious/intelligent killing machine that will slaughter anything and anyone in its path.

i don't feel like reading all of romero's script, but what were the changes? i honestly can't see a faithful adaptation of the first game working... "um... we're stuck in a house, because there're dogs outside, there're giant snakes, spiders, and plants, and um... yeah"

don't get me wrong, it works okay for the game, but c'mon, changes needed to be made, and i think they work for the first movie... i agree the second movie was complete butt though.

What a surprise.

RE movies = crap.

Just cause they didn't amke it like the games doesn't make them crap. I mean who in the theater wants to sit and watch a first person movie only, walking through hallways and then a zombie or two popping out of now where. Action and character complexs is where it is at.

The first RE movie was good it started the movies for one of the greatest games in VG history. The Second was freakin sweet and both movies kept you wondering at the end, and guessing what will happen in the next movie.

If you just compare the VG and the Movie in a simple Nomadic way you just need to open your eyes.

What's the intended story for RE3?

They way things were left in RE2, the sequel has to stand as a bit of a departure.
