Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

I don't listen to reviewers, especially video game reviewers, I'm still waiting for this game to get delivered from Amazon and I'm sure I'll enjoy taking down zombies.
I don't listen to VG reviewers, but I think I can agree on the AI being $#%^

even so Ign's is looking like the only place that's given the game the lowest score possible others aren't being as harsh. so that just goes to show ya.....

they could have done a lot better but that main reviewer on IGN has a habit of exaggerating. At least where he puts his numbers any way.

My brother and I have played through the first three stages of the story mode. Definitely not the greatest game ever, plenty of flaws but still fun. Worst part is the AI and the insane amount of damage the enemies take.

My brother and I could really use another two players. We tried waiting for some random people to show up but no one joined. Probably not enough people playing this game yet. If anyone has or plans on getting this for PS3, please send a friend request to SpideyForPrez on PSN.

It's too bad that it seems to be a mediocre game. It's not surprising, but I was hoping it would do a little better. Haven't played this yet though, but still plan on doing so. Well, after I wrapped up ME3.

I hope Capcom won't get discouraged by the reviews or possibly low sales. I still think the concept is awesome, and maybe Capcom could make another game by themselves.

Yea theres deff fun to be had. Going through the streets of RC is awesome, unfortunately those sections are few and far between. More often than not your trapped in a poorly lit, boring looking laboratory. Iv said it before but theres some instances when you are completely swarmed by zombies and it really does have the classic zombie movie feeling. Luckily you are a bad ass spec ops agent and are equipped to handle things like that.

I hope Slant 6 could release a patch to fix the ridiculous amount of damage the human enemies can take. I dont mind putting a bunch of rounds into a Hunter or Zombie, but it shouldn't take half a clip to the dome, to drop a Spec Ops soldier.

ok I'm out for tonight.

Well I played it for a couple of hours tonight and I gotta say, I'm pleased I didn't buy it. It's fun whenever you get to fight Zombies or B.O.W's, but the enemy soldiers you have to fight take so goddamn much damage it sucks whatever enjoyment I was having right out of the game. Forget having teammates because the AI spends most of it's time wandering in front of your weapon. All in all, it's worth a rental and a playthrough for nostalgia's sake to revisit old locales, but it is definitely not worth a $60 purchase.

Just finished the campaign mode. Overall, I'd give this game a C+. It's fun to play when you have friends, but there are some seriously annoying flaws that could have easily been taken care of.

The special ops enemies take waaaaay too much damage. There were times I'd shoot a guy directly in the head with a sniper rifle several times and they don't die. The automatic wall cover is also a major pain. The AI is atrocious and shouldn't even be referred to as AI as it just seems wrong using the word 'intelligence' when describing them. They just keep getting in the way of your fire and don't really do much else.

And one of the most INFURIATING things is when you or one of your teammates is taken down. You can revive a teammate by holding down the X button next to their body, but it's also the same button to pick up a weapon. When someone dies they also drop their weapon, when you go to revive them you have walk around the body several time in order to find the right spot so you don't just keep picking up weapons. And most of the time when you're trying to do that you get taken down by an enemy while you're distracted. Major flaw!!!

The best parts are when you're just fighting hordes of zombies and BOWs without any of the special ops guys interfering. There's plenty of charm from visiting certain locations from past RE games, but my brother and I thought there should have been more bosses. There are so many monsters and bosses from those games and they only include a small handful in this game.

We haven't played much of the VS modes yet but will probably give that a try later tonight. I don't really regret buying the game because I always love playing co-op with my brother, but if you're low on cash I suggest renting it or waiting for a price drop.

Yep thats exactly how i feel. You get out in the streets of RC and you're surrounded by walkers and it actually is really fun, then you go back underground into one of umbrellas labs and the spec ops show up. There goes the fun. The lab environments were always my least fav aspect of any of the RE titles to begin with, but they're so bland here. This game would of been one of my fav RE games if they would of done more in the streets of RC and if they would of removed the combat with the Spec Ops.

So how are the zombies in this game? Do they actually act like zombies of the older games or are they more like the enemies of RE4 and 5? Please tell me they at least stayed true to the original set of games

They're mostly true to the originals. Nothing like RE5, if that's what you're afraid of. They're slow and not very aggressive (with the exception of the Crimson Heads) and they're mostly threatening due to their numbers. Some of them do puke on you and obscure your vision, which I don't recall them doing in the originals.

Yea, like Spidey said, for the most part they act like the classic enemy. You have your "running" zombie which is the crimson head. Then as Spidey mentioned you have some zombies which puke on you, which i thought was completely unnecessary. I mean there are some GREAT moments when you are in the streets of RC and are surrounded by the classic slow stumbling zombie.

My biggest complaint tho, is just about EVERY zombie looks like a pale meth addict. They dont have that decayed look. I wanted this:

And unfortunately i didn't get that at all, or at least from what i noticed.

What makes Resident Evil so special that it gets two threads? :jediMerge!

It used to have three threads but people complained about RE6 being seperate. I never saw the problem with having just the RE thread for general discussion from across the series and all its forms of media and then 2 individual threads for indepth discussion of the two upcoming games, but that was just me. It does seem weird that they didnt seem to go and merge this when they did RE6 though

I stated it could be merged in my orig post. I still feel there needs to be separate threads for new RE releases to keep from getting glazed over by general RE talk tho. But whatevs

I couldn't do it. I couldn't finish this game. It was just too haggard for me to play. Between the AI and all the other nonsense I just had to return it to Blockbuster. Oh well, guess I'll just be waiting till RE6 to get my RE fix.

Did you try playing with other people at all? Thats what i had to do and actually did/do get some enjoyment out of playing with friends. Still not a very good game tho.

There really isn't anything to see at the end tho, other than them making up some stuff that happened to Leon at the end of RE2, which we all clearly know did not happen because we all played the 2nd game.

My friends and I played the first few stages together, but in the end we just couldn't do it. I didn't want to slog through this game and risk having my love of RE tainted in any way.

Eh, this game wouldn't turn you away any more than RE5 did. This game, with all its flaws, is still more RE than 5 was. Zombies, Raccoon City, trumps africa and crazy Africans any day.

Havent played this game but at least RE5 wasnt fundamentally flawed in so many basic and unforgiveable ways

I liked the setting of this game more than RE5, but I had more fun with RE5 than I did with ORC. I just couldn't get into ORC.
