Horror Resident Evil Reboot

Oh man I would absolutely be down for a sequel. New writer and director but same cast absolutely.

The guy that played Wesker should have been Chris. And they should not have adapted 2 games. I think they figured out a pretty good through line and the stories worked together, but its just too little runtime. A bunch of plot elements and none of them adequately explored or developed.

I enjoyed it despite its limited budget and problems. I'd like to see a sequel. Tho I think I'd prefer they just adapt RE4 as the sequel. Bring back Claire, Leon, Jill, and Chris as the team sent to Spain. Or have Claire be the one that is kidnapped and Chris, Jill, and Leon go after her. And have Wexler return as an antagonist but not a full villain.

Robbie Amell probably could've been a decent Chris if the director wasn't ****e.

But yeah Jill gets nothing to do.

Where tf is Barry and Rebecca? Yeah the Spcenver Mansion looking and feeling like the games was cool but they did absolutely nothing with it.

Wesker betraying them for money instead of being a plant was also dumb.

Raccoon City had some cool moody parts but it needed to be more of a "city" too.

Tying Chris and Jill to Birkin and his experiments was both dumb and never went anywhere.

I don't think the guy cast as Leon couldn't have been a good Leon but he was terribly written and directed.

I have the PWSA Resident Evil movies but at least the first one had a dope soundtrack and wasn't a thrown together mess of RE1/2.

RE1 itself could be a good movie...I just don't get it.

I liked Barbarian but as a huge Resident Evil fan I feel like with the movies I keep coming back to an abusive partner every time who promises me "this time it will be different" and it's the same old crap. Welcome to Raccoon City was 50/50 of "This is great they're actually doing this like the games!" and "Why did they do this? this is terrible". I actually rewatched it not too long ago and it was very disappointing.

Fingers crossed this comes to fruition, and he signs on.

Didn’t see the last one, but that looked bad.

This is great news. The Paul WS Anderson movies were all absolutely terrible and ruined what should’ve been a great horror franchise.

Anderson never should have been hired to do that series. He's not a bad director, having made genuinely good movies like the first Mortal Kombat movie, the 2008 Death Race remake and I KNOW people will swear by Event Horizon despite that movie getting screwed hard by Paramount. But Resident Evil didn't suit him. He just turned the games' plot into glorified fanfic starring his OC. Alice is the reason why I really scoff at morons online calling Rey from the newer Star Wars movies a Mary Sue; because Alice WAS a Mary-Sue. She was never in any of the games, constantly upstaged beloved characters like Jill Valentine, Chris and Clare Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy and making them ALL look like useless chumps (especially Chris, the guy who notoriously punched the **** out of a boulder in the fifth game), and was effortlessly kicking ass with little struggle even after losing her brief superpowers. No personal struggles or anything. On top of that, the movies became increasingly less scary and more just brainless action-horror without the action being fun.

The recent reboot movie tried to be more back to basics, but trying to combining the plot of the first 2 games and changing several characters' backstories around for no reason (as well as making freaking Wesker a sympathetic villain) didn't work. This time, just adapt the first game or even RE0. Stop trying to rush to get to the "fall of Raccoon City" stuff like the last 2 times.

And the less said about that weird-ass Netflix show with Lance Reddick as Wesker, the better.

I'll probably wait for it to get reported by another source before getting excited.

Don't do it Zach Cregger. You're better than this. You've grown beyond Miss March.

I remember all the initial hype for Welcome To Raccoon City but I knew adapting the first two games into one movie was going to be an utter disaster. R1 and RE2 together make no sense. Especially when the two stories that happen concurrently are RE2 and RE3. Even then it'd be difficult to mash them up into a single narrative.

Wonder what story they'll use for the new movie. I doubt Sony will want to do RE1 again due to the failure of WTRC. Maybe RE3 as a Escape From New York-esque film?

I actually wonder if Sony and Capcom care that much? They never seemed to assert much care in the franchise before. Case in point, the Resident Evil Netflix series.

Cregger might want to go for something completely different much like the Alice films.

Didn’t like barbarian, but as long as this rated r and not goofy like wtrc I’ll check it out

I wouldn't mind if they did something new, but many fans would obviously be really excited if they properly attempted to adapt RE4. But that might require a bigger budget than they're willing to gamble. RE7 would make for an excellent horror film, and I can see Cregger nailing that. I'd honestly prefer a one-shot, extended further on if successful.
Why bother adapting RE4 when we have A Cure for Wellness. :oldrazz:

And I'd love for my boy Ethan to get the big screen treatment. What a dream it would be to see it lead to a big budget RE8.

I thought the rumours were suggesting they were adapting RE0 for this new movie?

I saw Barbarian a few weeks ago and didn't have a bad time.
Sure, I wasn't blown away, but I found the film fairly entertaining and within the norm for this type of movie.

In any case, Zach Cregger is probably the best director the Resident Evil license has had so far.
Also, the Barbarian creature reminded me of Lisa Trevor so there's that... We'll see.

Unlike other game licenses, there's so much here to pull from and make a movie.
At some point, they'll finally crack the code...
