i want next gen lighting not previous gen. if you want previous gen lighting you've set the bar too low.

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY I HOPE THATS AN ATTEMPT AT HUMOR ON YOUR PART :o

your next gen lighting coming. there is a disparity between the character lighting and environment lighting at the moment. it'll be fixed.

why don't you explain how the fire is last gen. for one it's a particle effect. also in the day fire doesn't light the environment, even in shadow. you really need to take a look around rather than looking at computer games all the time.

IM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE FIRE  THANKS FOR LETTING ME KNOW ITS A PARTICLE EFFECT THOUGH  :o

BECAUSE IM TALKING ABOUT ****ING LIGHTING. NOT THE FIRE  IF I WAS TALKING ABOUT THE FIRE THEN I WOULD PROBABLY HAVE POINTED OUT SOMETHING IN RELATION TO THE FIRE EFFECT.

also in the day fire doesn't light the environment, even in shadow.

BULL****! ITS A LIGHT SOURCE THATS ONE FOOT FROM A WALL (A WALL THAT HAS NO LIGHTING CAST ONTO IT). THE WHOLE SCENE LACKS ANY REAL LIGHTING APART FROM THE SITUATIONAL LIGHTING PLACED UP HIGH AND ANYTHING ALREADY IN THE TEXTURES.

THIS GIVES EVERYTHING A MATT OR PAINTING LOOK AND FRANKLY LOOKS CHEAP, OLD AND UNFINISHED.

I FAIL TO SEE WHY THEY WOULD HAVE THE LIGHTING TURNED TOTALLY OFF IN BOTH STILL SCREENS AND IN THE LIMITED FOOTAGE OF THIS GAME THEY HAVE SHOWN OFF.

I HAVE HAVE ALREADY SHOWN YOU WHAT LIGHTING LOOKS LIKE (EXAMPLES WERE BOTH FROM LAST GEN GAMES BTW).

THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THIS GAME TO BE LACKING SUCH A DETAIL AT THIS STAGE IN DEVELOPMENT.

you really need to take a look around rather than looking at computer games all the time.

WOW, AN INSULT WRAPPED IN A SUGGESTION. YOU MUST BE MAKING YOUR PARENTS REAL PROUD.

^Hahahahaha thats awesome.

Anyways yeah its official, Sony won't let anyone see what Resistance looks like right now and its official from 1.up. They said the graphics looked way more impressive than what they got to show.

I'm wondering why Insomniac and Sony aren't showing the recent build of the game? I mean are they saving it to blow everyone away at TGS?

Oh and Mentok what do you mean next-gen lighting? Its an alley way, alley ways are usually dark because the buildings are so high sun light can't reach down there?:O

i'm right about the fire in day light. it's to do with the way eyes work and the sun being far more bright than fire. ever seen light reflected of walls from a BBQ in the day? you couldn't have because it's an impossibility. the fact that you rip of a pic from some one ignorant of this, doesn't speak highly of you.

i rap insults in suggestions when nessesary. and dependant on who i'm talking to. you want a complement wrapped in a suggestion, then do something worth complimenting.

As usual you are wrong.

Im talking about LIGHTING. For the last time, I'm not talking about the God dammed FIRE.

it's to do with the way eyes work and the sun being far more bright than fire.

Its nothing to do with that

I shine a torch at my hand and it creates a shadow on the wall next to me. Does it still do it even though the Sun is much brighter?

YES! ITS A LIGHT SOURCE 2 feet away from a surface.

ever seen light reflected of walls from a BBQ in the day? you couldn't have because it's an impossibility.

YOU FAIL BASIC SCIENCE

Buddy, I see because LIGHT REFLECTS/REFRACTS off a surface.

the fact that you rip of a pic from some one ignorant of this, doesn't speak highly of you.

That makes so sence at all... What pic did I 'rip off'?

i rap insults in suggestions when nessesary. and dependant on who i'm talking to. you want a complement wrapped in a suggestion, then do something worth complimenting.OMG!!!111 LOOK YOU EVEN PUT ANOTHER INSULT IN! YOU RAWK!!11!

You do it to feel important and smart. You failed :o

heh. you fail advanced science, basic science doesn't work in this situation. shine a torch outside in the day. can you see it effect anything what so ever. perhaps on metal surfaces but that's about it. i know the reason why but i couldn't explain it to you in the time i'm willing to spend on this. so just go out and try. shine it into shadow. see what happens. that's true science. experimentation and observation.

THAT WOULD BE TRUE IF THE ****ING STREET WAS BATHED IN SUNLIGHT

ITS NOT

ONCE AGAIN YOU FAIL.

SURROUNDING THE ****ING FIRE IS DARKNESS... THATS MY ****ING POINT.

LIGHT SOURCE + SURFACE = DARKNESS? I THINK NOT!

perhaps on metal surfaces but that's about it.

I SEE THINGS BECAUSE LIGHT REFLECTS/REFRACTS OFF THEM. END OF STORY. NONE OF THIS 'PREHAPS ON METAL' BULL****

i know the reason why but i couldn't explain it to you in the time i'm willing to spend on this.

BULL****! MORE POSTURING TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BIG. FAILED, FAILED, FAILED.

so just go out and try. shine it into shadow. see what happens. that's true science. experimentation and observation.

You fool... Its very simple. Darkness + Light =???? LIGHT.

Where is your new affection for the caps lock button coming from? That's THWIPS stick.

you'll always be a fool if you don't actually do what it takes to see where you are wrong. you don't take scattering into account. it lowers the intensity to a point where with the eyes range in day time isn't sensitive enough to be seen. still thinking of light as a particle rather than a wave; that's kids science.

THERE IS NO LIGHTING COMING FROM THE 'LIGHT SOURCE' (FIRE). IF THERE WAS THEN THE TWO SURFACES IT WAS SITTING ON WOULD BE LIGHT UP.

NOW GO AND PUT ANOTHER REMARK ABOUT ME NEEDING TO "GO OUTSIDE" OR "DO RESEARCH" OR EVER BETTER YET WHY NOT INSULT ME AGAIN... THAT SEEMS TO BE ALL YOU ARE GOOD AT.

STOP GIVING ME ******ED **** ABOUT 'LIGHT BEING IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE IN THE DAYTIME' OR CRAP ABOUT LIGHT SCATTERING AFTER TRAVELLING THROUGH TWO FEET OF AIR :o

THE WHOLE GAME (NOT JUST THIS ONE PICTURE) IS LACKING LIGHTING. EVEN THE SHOTS WITH GUNFIRE HAVE NO AMBIENT LIGHTING EFFECT.

the light goes in all directions. you just can't see it in the day time it's insignificant next to the rest of the light. even in shadow. shadows aren't actually as dark as they apear. you only see the light of the fire that goes directly to the eye, or that is bounced of a shiny surface. if you cannot see a shiny surface there then there isn't one there. at night time we can see fire brightening things because our visual range changes to cope with the night time. this is all scientific fact. and it's easily observable. people who make games are both artistic and scientific. they know more about this stuff than you do.

Way to dodge my whole ****ing point

"THEY KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS STUFF THAN YOU DO"

:o

YOU JUST LOST THE ****ING INTERNET RIGHT THERE PAL :down

IN OTHER WORDS 'I THINK I KNOW MORE OF THIS STUFF THAN YOU'

WHICH IS JUST PLAIN WRONG. I HAVE SEEN YOU COME IN HERE A DOZEN TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS *****ING WITH PEOPLE CLAIMING YOU KNOW "MORE ABOUT VIDEOGAME DEVELOPMENT" THAN THEY DID. TIME AND TIME AGAIN I HAVE SEEN YOU GET TOTALLY OWNED OVER SOMETHING LIKE UNREAL ENGINE 3.0 (AND YOUR ****ING ******ED ARGUMENT THAT IT WAS TOO SLOW TO HANDLE FPS DEVELOPMENT :o )

ONCE AGAIN YOU ****ING FAIL.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU ARE, NOR DO I DIVE A FLYING ****. IT IS CLEAR HOWEVER, THAT YOUR VIDEOGAME UNDERSTANDING IS JUST AS SHODDY AS YOUR SCIENTIFIC KNOWWLEDGE.

SINCE ITS THE WORLDS DUMBEST QUOTE, I WILL PUT IT UP AGAIN FOR YOU.

ever seen light reflected of walls from a BBQ in the day? you couldn't have because it's an impossibility.

THERE IT IS IN ALL ITS GLORY :o

Mentok said:

That is PROOF that this game sucks at lighting. See that highlighted part in the picture with the fire is not like it is BATHED in sunlight, so there is nary an excuse there for no ambhient lighting over there.

QUOTED FOR TRUTH. :cool::up:

i don't need to think i know more about this than you do. since you're using arguements based on a knowledge level far below mine. i might have made the same arguement when i was 12. so i understand the reasons you are saying what you are saying. visa versa can not be true.

you say "i lost the internet." lol. keep it. there's no prize to this arguement. you don't win anything but more knowledge. and since you've got little to give it's not much of a prize.

this is what fire looks like. just thought i'd let you know since it seems like you've never seen any. notice the shiney matterial, it's reflecting the fire. see anything on the concrete floor. no because it scattered the light.

PLEASE KEEP IT CIVIL IN HERE GUYS, YOU'RE GETTING TOO CLOSE TO; "NYAH, **** YOUR MOM *****!" :cmad:

Oh you mean that oh-so-high "knowledge level" of yours that said Unreal Engine 3.0 did not have any first person shooters because the engine was too slow to handle them? Got it, sport.

Way to take a picture in which the extinguisher foam obstructs the immediate area in which the light is reflected. But since you seem to be claiming that concrete does NOT reflect light, how do you explain this:

1%20Old-Fire-On-Road.jpg

main.jpg

See that yellow tint on the road in the immediate area surrounding the fire? Try telling me that's not light being reflected off the CONCRETE.

Higher level of knowledge my ass.

so, how is that picture supposed to be reflecting light?

the fire is tucked back in a little crevise, or whatever, so you can't see the wall to the left, and the view of the wall on the far side of the fire is blocked by the fire itself...

so, where's the beef?
