He shot an alien with the shotgun at point blank, and the alien didn't fly back....he flew forward?

You watch too many action movies. :O

Yeah, show me where these "1up" a-holes are and I'll go kick them in the testicles :down

Milkie would beat the crap out of 99 percent of the people walking this earth.

It's more like 'the majority of journalists are getting bored with what has been shown and playable with the game' not just 1UP. I don't think that Gears will be BAD by any means, but it's looking more and more (to me) like the game that will get hyped up as a chess peice by Xbots and not in actuality be that great.

Same thing could arguable be being done for Resistance, but both games looks like they will be good. I don't think Resistance is going to be just an aequate 'launch game' but one of the hits for the system that will have some legs.

Zenien...

I have used a real rifle (I think it was real) once, and I shot up to the air, since it was Christmas. It hurt a lot.

I'm always amazed when I see people reloading a gun, even though it's the most normal thing they could do.

So, I am NOT a ballistic or weapons expert by ANY means...

But I am SURE that if you shoot the body of a person (or alien, in this case) with a shotgun, from a distance of like 4 or 5 feet, that body would most certainly fly BACK, not TOWARDS you.

It's basic physics.

Here are some random names of people who would not only beat the crap out of that Milk guy, but would also make him eat the dirt off their shoes.
Also, these were only the names I could come up within the first 5 seconds.

Sonny Chiba (and he's like 60 now):

Donnie Yen:

Barney (let's be realistic, that Milk guy is most likely a big wuss)

Jennifer Garner (and she likes cute stuff like bunnies and flowers):

Weird Al (yup, him too):

And no, the majority of journalists are NOT getting bored with Gears of War, it's like the exact opposite.

I don't know where you get this stuff

The internet. How can you expect them not to get sick of seeing the same content over and over and over again. It's not like the Gears guys have been showing off anything new.

By that logic, everyone should be tired about games where you only shoot stuff over and over and over
I don't get you :(

And surely, you don't think that the stuff you've seen in videos, pictures and interviews so far, is all the game has, do you?

Neither does Gears, they are taking a page out of Kill Switch and just has better graphics :D

The 1.up guys have played it and they said it gets old after a while and they said it gets repetivie so since they've played it I think i'll take their word over anyones on here. Experience is the key to ignorance.
Kill.Switch and GRAW presented the idea of a cover system being part of a big part of a game and GoW is focusing on perfecting it and making it the most important part of the game. There's many more FPS that focus on running around and shooting aliens then there is that try to incorporate new elements to broaden the genre. Coupled with a deep story and awesome gimmicks (a chainsaw... curb stomp... Unnecessary but I can't wait to ****ing chainsaw people) That's the difference between Gears and other shooters.

Sure, the 1UP guys have played it and said it gets old and repetitive.. They're also notorious for giving iffy reviews on things they play. Plus, they're still sore with Epic after the viral marketing attempt this Summer that flopped. Plus, they're just one site that played it and said that it was repetitive.. There's many other legitimate websites and many gamers (through match made in hell sessions) that have said that the game is great. EGM, 1UP's publication, have played the game and said that when they left the studio they were craving more. The good things said about this game have FAR outweighed the bad. And I'll take the word of the majority over the minority when it comes to reviews.

It's funny how you talk about a lack of experience being the key to ignorance when you're touting Resistance as being the second coming. When have you played that game? How do you know it's gonna be so good? Really, you're in the same boat here.. Only there's a lot less good things that have been said about Resistance. In my opinion Resistance is the one that looks repetitive here. The gameplay looks good, but bland.. Nothing special. The guns are nice, but the game can't be about guns.. An alright story, crappy designs to enemies.. Everything about the game seems medicore.. A game that will be good, but not one that anyone will remember X amount of years from now. At least Gears tried to go a different direction and give an overdone genre a breath of fresh air. :o

I agree, I like the fact that Gears is going for a distinctly different appraoch.

I doubt they're sore over anything, it's not like the lame viral marketting was involving them in some way that was different then any of the other publications.

I listen to a lot of podcasts at work, and in between writting up generic feel good previews like every site does, it's not just 1UP that's saying "I hope there's more to Gears then what we're seeing so far". All Epic has shown of Gears has been like the same 2 levels over and over again with the very basic gameplay. We haven't seen any of the supposed RE inspiration when it comes to the 'horror' elements, nothing outside of some very basic gameplay levels and the multiplayer which got great reviews at E3.

I have never heard of an instance where not showing off new stuff to preserve a games surprises until launch was a bad thing?

Gamera: THere's suprising the audience and then there's doing your product a diservice by showing off it's most simplistic form, they're lucky they have the beautiful graphics and the name EPIC behind them or hardly anyone would be talking about the game right now.

I totally agree with you about not giving away too much, but most games would have shown us somethng more at this point. Not that it matters, as long as Gears comes out and rules, right?

1UP is notorious for holding grudges.. Whether they're subtle or not.. It's common knowlege. And I still don't think that it's a bad thing that they have only showed 2 levels.. The games going to be OVER 10 hours long (guaranteed) and supposedly push 15-17 hours.. Obviously there is going to be more too it. All we've seen was fights with drones.. We haven't seen any against berserkers, theron guards, or berserkers.. We haven't even seen much incorporation of staying in the light.. Only a small segment. There is obviously a lot more to the game that they're saving for launch.

Which it will, yeah :o

Well I think a lot of it has to do with Cliffy being a gamer himself. He knows what fans want and is a fans developer.. He's talked many times about wanting to enhance the experience of a game.. In not even talking about most of the critical parts of the game, he's saving the experience for the gamer.. Which is a great thing.. Other then that, I agree with you that none of this matters if the game comes out and rules.

I've been hitting the Resistance sauce a little hard lately, it's entirely possible that it to will actually turn it to be nothing special, and to be fair we've only seen like 2 levels from Resistance as well.

Bah, forget I brought it up at all, Resistance could very well be not good, or average, or wahtever. Besides whenever I start argueing a side consistently I always jinx myself. :o

That's like the weirdest phrase I've heard today

Well if this is indeed the simplest form of their product and 90% of the comments from people that have played the game are stellar, then the game is gonna be good..

You havea point. Their main concerns (and this is AFTER they were initially really impressed) is that they haven't seen more. After repeated viewings of not seeing more they're saying they hope there's more to the game. If Clifford is saying that he wants to save the 'meat' of the game for the players to experience, then chances are really good that the game will probably deliver.

I highly doubt you'll be able to find a theater showing it.
