^For the last time they are not aliens! JESUS CHRIST!!!!

Everyone needs to get their facts straight, no one knows what the Chimera are and if you look at the official website and into the creative and original documents Insomniac made on them you wouldn't jump to this conclusion so quickly.

Insomniac are always ready to object to people calling the Chimera Aliens and thats one of the games huge mysteries, what is the Chimera. Where did the virus come from. Thats why i'm so fascinated with this game because its very creative and very original in certain aspects.

So until the game comes out and I find out what the Chimera are, don't call them aliens and don't be under the impression that they are aliens.

so theyre not aliens...man i hope they don't turn out to be humans who were transformed by the virus, that'll make the game even more unoriginal.

Let me take a stab in the dark...

A government created the virus.

The CHIMERA are mutated humans.

:o

Yeah... real big and unique story there.

Hahaha oh my god, Halo 3 is taking ideas from Resistance: Fall of Man! That is amazing, Bungie said they were inspired by Resistance and really want to grasp the play style that Resistance has incorporated in their game. They asked Insomniac if its alright if they can use a spike grenade that explodes and sends spike everywhere in the enviornment just like the Hedgechog in Resistance: Fall of Man.

I don't know if I should be pissed or honored that a game like Halo is actually taking notes from Resistance. Oh well, Resistance is the original and the original is always better :D

here is the link to that site... http://boards.1up.com/zd/board/message?board.id=show&message.
id=47945

it was on the 1.up boards and its a magaizine called "EDGE" I don't know if its good or if its like Katouko.

Dont act like they are jacking off to RESISTANCE because its so much better than what they are doing.

RESISTANCE is takling far more from the Halo games... but you probably ignore that anyway.

Oh... and the link you posted dont work.

Uh, no it is not. Dual triggers rule.

It's not the triggers, chump. It's the analog sticks that are too close to each other which makes it a blunder for FPSs, especially when compared to the significantly superior Xbox controllers. Funny how you try to "correct" me without even having a bloody clue as to what I was even talking about in the first place.

What did Resistance take from Halo? Just point something out and I will admit it, but trust me there might not be anything you can call out on. Most of the game was inspired by Insomniac's past work with the Ratchet and Clank serise.

Oh and the Government making the Chimera is sort of original for a fps since not a ton do that. But actually based on new documents I actually think the whole European continent was in on the Chimera. They were making the Chimera to kill the U.S. because the U.S has been F**KING up the world left and right with foreign affairs they didn't need to stick their noses into.

They probable were planning on infecting all of the United States and just saying screw off and kill them but the virus out broke in Russia and then all of Europe.

But read a ton of the stuff on the Resistance Fall of Man website and you'll see that it is original. Its all of Insomniac's ideas twisting history and alternating it making it a chilling story that can be summed up in two words "What If?"

I don't understand why people have such a hard time with the PS2 controller for FPS

Ask that to all the people who always get owned at Halo on the Xbox when playing with a PS2 controller (using an adapter, of course). That's the best possible example I can give why the PS2 controller sucks for first-person shooters. Oh and the fact that PS2 barely even had a decent FPS where the Xbox had more than a handful only reinforces the point.

Some cool little images, not showing much but still nice to look at :)

Yeah, except Ratchet and Clank is ****ing platformer and Halo is a real first-person shooter. It's almost a given that they're going to at least base their control scheme on the standard that Halo first established for console first person shooters. We already know they have taken the idea of the needler from Halo. There are a couple other things more I've said on the subject in the past, but I can't seem to recall them right now.

Yeah, like the government being involved in all kinds of wierd **** experimenting on humans wasn't done by Return to Castle Wolfenstein half a decade ago. Please wake up Liz. If Resistance is "original", then I am the Pope and the King of England, get it?

They probable were planning on infecting all of the United States and just saying screw off and kill them but the virus out broke in Russia and then all of Europe.

Again, play Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Oh and the virus situation sounds just like the one in the Resident Evil games.

Like this is the first time any developer has ever attempted an alternate timeline "What if" story in a game eh?

For God's sake man, get a clue.

^Hehehe Fenrir you rule, you do make a lot of good points and yeah I should wake up and smell the coffee but I want to stay ignorant.

However Resistance didn't take that from Halo the needler because the Bullseye acts diffrently and homing bullets have been done before the Needler like in the Fifth Element maybe?

So thats nothing you can say Resistance took from Halo. And control scheme is nothing you can take because Golden Eye did it and Halo took that, yeah its going to get complicated.

Also Ratchet and Clank is technically a first person shooter because you can switch the camera and make it an FPS, however its just not as fun.

P.S.

Has anyone seen the movie Dreamcatcher. My friends watched it and said it reminded them a lot of Resistance. So I was just curious.

Yeah, but he makes some points, though. Plus, if anything it was funny. Don't worry Liz, I still like ya, lol.

For a start... Dual weilding.

Most of the game was inspired by Insomniac's past work with the Ratchet and Clank serise.

Please dont tell me you believe that :(

Perhaps it's for the best.

Yeah, but last I remember The Fifth Element wasn't a videogame (or more specifically, a console first person shooter) now was it?

So thats nothing you can say Resistance took from Halo. And control scheme is nothing you can take because Golden Eye did it and Halo took that, yeah its going to get complicated.

Uh, no. Halo and Goldeneye used different control schemes. The N64 control pad did not have dual analog sticks. That alone throws your claim out. Not to mention that it is an established, reputable fact that Halo was the pioneer of the standard console FPS control scheme as we know it today. Heck, even Time Magazine listed the creators of Halo as one of the 100 Most Influential figures in the past year because of how much an impact their title has made on FPS genre and console gaming in general. Ha! Let's see Insomniac try and top that.

Also Ratchet and Clank is technically a first person shooter because you can switch the camera and make it an FPS, however its just not as fun.

No, Ratchet and Clank is a PLATFORMER. Period. Just because you can switch the camera to first-person mode doesn't exactly mean it becomes a FPS. Otherwise you might as well call Ninja Gaiden and Metal Gear Solid FPSs as well since you can do that in those games too.

Funny... This game looks much better off screen than in the official high res shots.

time splitters predates halo and uses the same control skeme pretty much. halo also ripped off half life. the scifi is pretty much standard fare. so lets not get into a pissing match about originality between games now shall we.

the sixaxis is improved over the dual shock with regards to the analog sticks or so i hear it's also got triggers where a set of sholder buttons used to be. taking good elements of the x-box controller design and moving them to the great form factor of the dual shock shape. i would like to try out both the 360 pad and the sixaxis before making any judgement on which is better tho.

the up shot of that is that less auto aim should be in the games leading to greater opertunities for head shots etc.

still waiting for more impressions and to play it myself some day perhaps.
