    That's awesome :woot:.

ROTJ was the excuse my parents used to take us to the movies that day, and it was a SW marathon: they showed ANH and ESB and then we got to see ROTJ. Needless to sat that little movie outing changed my life forever. Thank you, George! :woot:

Jedi has always been my favorite Star Wars film.

Empire may be the better film on a structural level, but the emotional and escapism elements of Jedi are what sell it for me. The action is the most exciting of the series imo. I loved the dramatic stuff with Luke and Vader. I think Hamill is at his best here as well. He is just a bit too whiny in Empire for my liking. Not enough to really ruin the film or anything, but enough to for me roll my eyes here and there.
I personally never had a problem with the Ewoks and I don't recall them ever being much of a problem until Lucas became the focus of fanboy rage everywhere.
As others have said, they are no Gungans. They are savage little buggers really. I think people let the cute factor cloud that somewhat.

Not directly ROTJ-related, but I hope one of the solo SW movies involves Leia's Jedi training.

I'd prefer not, unless they recast.

Talking about how they slowed down halfway through the movie, sometimes and other fans agree also that perhaps Luke seeing Yoda and Obi Wan on Dagobah should have perhaps taken place at the start of the film. That way he would have finished his training, Yoda granting Luke Jedi Knight status, learning that Leia is his sister and then perhaps they should have included that deleted scene somehow with him constructing his lightsaber. Then it's off to Tattooine he goes. Of course that now released deleted scene would have had to be reworked with Vader's presence omitted from the scene.

    Han just chillin! :woot:

This is a great pic, I've never seen ROTJ Emperor without his hood.

    Gotta love that craftsmanship!

Luke as the "Jedi with No Name" sounded cool. Really cool, as did Had Abaddon.

I feel left out because I have never found Carrie Fisher as Leia in the gold bikini very appealing to me. I don't understand why.

I'm trying to find the name of a character in ROTJ and hopefully you guys can help me out:

In Jabba's palace, right before Chewie/Leia's entrance, there was a little dude with a dome helmet who rans up the stairs only to get pushed down by the mighty Chewbacca. What's that guy's name?

I could be wrong as there is another similar looking character in Jabbas Palace, but I think it is Doallyn?

For me, Luke's actions in the final duel in this film epitomize what it means to be a Jedi: self-sacrifice. Luke refuses to fight his father. He refuses to become like his father. Half of the duel is him evading Vader or defending himself.

Then Vader tempts him to anger. Luke briefly gives in, hacks off his father's hand. Looks down at his own robotic hand. Remembers his vision in the cave on Dagobah. He is becoming like his father. And he casts his sabre aside. Refuses to fight. He's not one of those *****ebag Jedi from the prequels, those arrogant punks. He's uncompromising. He'd rather die at the hands of the emperor than win this duel. Because he wants to give his father a chance at redemption, even if it costs him his life.

There's no other Jedi as awesome as Luke Skywalker. Seriously.

Return of the Jedi is the reason why Luke Skywalker is my favorite SW character overall, and at times it has been my favorite SW film for that reason. I'm always alternating between which one is my favorite it's always difficult to decide but I've always had this fondness of ROTJ because of Luke Skywalker. The finale between him and the Emperor stands as my favorite cinematic moment in all of film.

Plus, the epic space battle going on outside really helps make things insanely more fantastic.

Same here, Luke is my fave SW character because of how he ends up in RotJ. It really means something when I first see him in Jabba's palace and I briefly flash back to him in ANH. Great development over the trilogy.

While I love ROTJ, despite it's script problems, the one thing that does bug me is the characterization of Leia. She's so passive here.

Was Luke really willing to turn C3PO and R2D2 into slaves to save Han?

It's all part of the plan. It's not like Leia was gonna save Han and walk out while everyone's sleeping. They knew Jabba was going to spring a trap.

But I guess Luke had to count on that Jabba won't kill Leia, Chewie or the droids.
