I re-watched TLS for the first time in probably a decade over the weekend...

Still not the strongest film. Probably better than some of the new class films though....

It was definitely rushed and I still cant forgive them what they did to Scott all because they didnt want to wait for James to be done with Superman Returns and even Fameka just stands around most of the time having to look angry.

This is of course one of Storms better outings but we know she only got what she did because Halle refused to return if she got anything less which...good for her. I still dont understand why they had Storm console Wolverine after Xavier is dusted by Jean and not the other way around (I mean...I KNOW WHY but still) after Storm was for all intents and purposes closer to Xavier.

Her fight scenes were nice, could've gotten more but...

It is a shame that Mystique was practically thrown away in this film after 2 strong showings. Seeing her get revenge on Magneto for abandoning her would've been SO GOOD.
The new "Brotherhood" Magneto puts together though....I still have no idea what they were thinking of porcupine guy, arclight, and Callisto (I guess Callisto was fine but...idk)?

I saw this movie in theaters on opening night, and I loved it. At the time I thought it was better than X1 and X2. The day is came out on DVD, I bought it, and watched it 3 times that day.

But it has NOT held up over the years. I did an X-Men rewatch a couple months ago, and it was tough to sit through. I don't know what my young self was thinking... This ranks only above Dark Phoenix now, IMO.

It's a decent film for/given that the first two films were already so Wolverine-centric (and Cyclops-minimal) and the definitely odd though I-guess-I-can-understand doing both the cure and Phoenix storylines.

Yeah, Porcupine and also just a Multiple Man were pretty underwhelming effects/villains.

Everyone aside from Stewart was putting in a lot less effort, I still like Stewart, McKellen a lot, Berry and Jackman were fine, use of Jean and Scott real disappointing, do like a lot the aspects of depowering Magneto and killing off Xavier, kind of particularly disappointing that there then were not more sequels to finally do more with Storm, Iceman, Beast, Kitty, Angel.

Unfortunately, it’s not the worst in the X-franchise. Honestly, it probably ranks somewhere in the middle at this point

The most egregious fault of the movie is Rogue’s character arc, though. It’s insane that she takes the cure— what a lame way to close the book on her character. I think an easy change would be to drop Angel and Worthington Sr. from the movie entirely and give all that cure storyline screentime to Rogue. Of course, she’d ultimately decide against it and show up in the finale to fight for those that hate and fear them alongside her fellow X-Men. Let Kavita Rao be the face of the cure like in the comics; the Worthingtons unfortunately added very little to an already-overstuffed cast.

Some good things though—I do think this cast, despite these films’ continued missteps, is always on point. Even when they’ve gotta deliver some corny lines or zip around on a wire.

Still wish I got to see a Storm vs. Phoenix fight, but maybe somewhere in the multiverse…

TLS was definitely a let down after the fantastic Phoenix teaser at the end of X2. In the film we got Rogue should have suited up for the big fight and, after seeing the love between Bobby and Kitty, tried to take out the big dog by her ownself She dies after failing to absorb Jean’s Phoenix power and then a distraught Logan steps up to finish the job.

Kelsey Grammer was great as Beast; yes, we know this. But, also, that makeup has never looked better. And I loved his throwback uniform.

And I really think Elliot Page was spot-on casting as Shadowcat, even if I don’t think Kitty should have been shoehorned into a love triangle with Bobby and Rogue—Page looked so young compared to Ashmore and Paquin. Kitty should have just been, for lack of better terms, the “new Rogue” in X3; i.e., a young mutant coming to terms with their powers and figuring out their life. It’s a good opportunity for Rogue to offer help, and realize she doesn’t need the cure.

I can't believe this movie is 18 years old!

I still think Bryan Singer should have stayed on X-Men rather than Superman Returns. Beast was awesome though! Colossus, Angel, Jubilee and Psylocke were a complete waste!

Jubilee and Psylocke were cameos. should rather say Colossus Angel Rogue were wasted! Cyclops no comment. Marsden went to Superman Returns so Fox didnt like it and gave him the worst role

Jubilee was actually noticeable in X2. While her role in X3 was like a blip second of nothing. I remember back in 2003, people were hoping she would get a bigger role in X3 and joined the X-Men. And years later, she appeared in 1 scene in X3. So yes it was a waste.

Cameo or not, Psylocke was also a waste in X3, as she's a major X-Women in the comics and they didn't even give her signature power.
