The Amazing Spider-Man Rhys Ifans Cast as The Lizard

My guesses are either Chameleon, Electro, or Mysterio.

But the warmth/rage comment, makes me think of Lizard, but I don't see him as Connors though.

I've never seen him as truly being at the top of his craft, he is very charismatic though.

The whole part about him being warm and all, leads me to believe he'll be doc conners.

The Lizard has deserved to be on film since 2004. Let's hope so.

If he is gonna be Connors, he will definetly be The Lizard, because they announced him as a VILLAIN! But, I'm not sure if this goes well with Lizard being the first movie... we'll see I guess. But I can't think of him being anyone else than either Mysterio or Electro actually, maybe Shocker & Chameleon, but the last 2 never expressed warmth, but then again, neither the first ones lol! I guess we'll just have to wait until they make the announcement!

I'll be surprised if he will be The HOBGOBLIN haha!

And @ Oscorp: Even if he does look similar to a villain from USM, I truly hope this new franchise won't get many elements from the USM and neither from TSSM!

He looks familiar But I have not really seen his work until seeing some youtube vids of him!,As an actor he seems good But I'm also confused of his as a character as I don't really know he can actually be.

Some say it's most likely Electro/Mysterio or Connors,Any of those could be great and a nice change since they haven't been on the big screen yet(Connors yeah But not as Lizard).

His performance in Anonymous seems to be the main reason they cast him. It's coming out in 2011 and is apparently a "historical thriller" (he co-stars with Vanessa Redgrave). I guess I have a new movie to look forward to.

I was getting a feeling of that!,But not sure since I'm starting to agree more that he will be Connors/Lizard or perhaps Electro,I can't see Mysterio being the first villian in the new reboot though.

Maybe Scorpion!,But I think they might have him in a 3rd film.

Read closely what I said!,I meant in the Spiderman movies he was not Lizard and Connors being Lizard in the new reboot would be a change since he was just DR./Prof.Connors in in the 3 movies.....Such a tease!

Well, they're really breaking off from the Raimi movies now by having mostly unknowns, sans Stone to an extent. I forgot this dude even existed.

The thing is, Connors doesn't have a very particular look, imo. Norman does, Brock does, Vulture does, but not Connors. Just give that guy a haircut and dye his hair brown and that's it.

on the main page I read this Webb added, "What sets the Spider-Man villains apart is the complexity of their relationships with Peter Parker"This makes me believe The Lizard is the villain.Electro the other villain that comes to mind for me has no connection to Peter.

Hmm.. the thing is, isn't The Vulture suppossed to be old anyway? Tho I never wanna see Vulture, I kinda admit that I'd like him to be younger than he was in the comics. Being old would simply not feel right on screen imo, imagine an old guy flying to such a big height without getting dizzy and fighting a man with SUPER STRENGTH like Spider-Man lol!

I agree, Conners may not have a a constant look, but he should be a caring, elder/father type guy. I don't get that from Ifans.

I like Vulture being old. That sets him apart from many other villains. And it could make him very creepy being old and cold.

He always plays weird roles, complete nutjobs. He'd be more of a Cletus Cassidy if they were to choose him for his looks alone. He can act, though, and thus not be villainous at all.
