The Amazing Spider-Man Rhys Ifans Cast as The Lizard

What if the whole "warmth & rage" thing is the result of a villain-made-sympathetic all over again?? :P

well, aren't most of Spider-Man's villains victims anyway? To their ego, accident, or whatever.

I hope it's Lizard. Loved him in The Boat that Rocked by the way, but also in Notting Hill. He's a great character actor.

It's gotta be someone major. He's only the third cast member announced, I would bet my life on his character being the main villain or a major character, someone like Connors or Norman, major figures in Peter's life. Not guys like Shocker or Jackal and the like.

Oh scratch that, not Lizard... I was thinking of the Scorpion actually. :) I know he's not a terribly important villain, but he was the first villain I thought of when hearing the news.

I think the problem with Scorpion is that he was a response to Spider-Man.

Didn't J. Jonah participate in creting Scorp too? That again, needs a lot of build up.
I think the reason why The Lizard is getting so much support, despite being another villain that needs buildup, is because he was screwed out in the previous series.

If it's Dr. Connors, I hope they take the first act (time) to develop his and Peter's relationship, and Peter's relationship to the Connors Clan.

I wonder if that is the case, if we will get a secondary villain to support that time allotment for Dr. Connors and Peter's relationship, or if they will just concentrate on the character development. Or, will we then get the orign of Spider-Man again, along with the time to develop that relationship (that could actually work well together)... hmmmm

Mysterio came to my mind immediately.

Anyway, Rhys Ifans is an excellent actor. I like him a lot.

Oh, do we know for certain it's an origin story?

"Warmth and rage" makes me think Connors.

I really hope it is the Lizard, the Lizard is on my wish list for villians along with Electo.

I think he seems a little old to play Electo so I would say he is gonna be Doc Connors, which may mean that it will be set in college, since it would make no sense for Peter to be involved with a teacher at the Empire state university.

I think, if all else, i'll be Parker beginning his career as Spider-Man but it won't feature the origin. Maybe a flash back.

So I think Spider-Man is already established and it's about Parker dealing with it.

ohhhh god will the villain again be connected to the hero?

Good point about college.

Well, he could be a high school teacher in the reboot if he is used or Peter could be taking advanced science classes. I'm a senior and I'm taking advanced math and english classes so why can't Peter do the same with science?

Well, he's good actor but I'm not his biggest. Yeah, he's good and cheap and they don't want to spend 200 millions on that so I think they won't use Lizard or Vulture.

My tip: Electro or Mysterio

go see "Love, Actually", "Notting Hill" and Greenberg. He was awesome in those films.

I'm suprised no one had mentioned herman shultz, not that i have seen anyway.

I gotta admit I've never seen any of Ifans's films, but apparently he was very creepy in Enduring Love, in which he plays Daniel Craig's stalker. So he should make a good villain.

That would make him a good fit for Jackal....If Sony decided to use him
