Agreed, but honestly it's a moot point either way.

Even if Spider-Man 4 did go into production, Curt Connors still would have taken a back seat to the Vulture. As much as I would have loved to have seen Baker finally in the spotlight as the villain, it was never going to happen.

Either way, bring on the Lizard!

Yeah but that's Hollywood. No-one said it was easy.

When you're an actor the majority of what you get is probably knock-backs.

Plus you can blame Sony for that for not having the patience to wait for a good script.

They said they would do the Lizard then Sony kept blocking every idea Sam had.

But yes, I will be angry that Dylan Baker didn't even get a chance to play green, scaley and scary. I remember him even saying he would love to play the Lizard if he got the chance.

The people at Sony are either complete ass-holes or dumbasses, or maybe a bit of both.


Either way there's a whole lot of butt involved.

Connors was never going to become the Lizard in the Raimi films though. We would have gotten John Malkovich playing the Vulture in Spider-Man 4 and Connors would have remained a minor character, as he was in the two previous films.

Spider-Man 4 would have been the last film with Raimi and his cast. Either way, Baker would have never had a shot at Lizard to begin with, unfortunately.

I don't see how anyone can be disappointed with this. Lizard is probably the best villain they could have picked to reboot this franchise.

At least it's not Ultimate Venom for heaven's sake. The farther they get away from anything Ultimate the better in any Marvel property.

Meh. The Lizard may work in comics, but I've always honestly felt it would come off as incredibly cartoony on the big screen no matter how its approached. I really hope they incorporate Kraven as well, otherwise it could very well come off as terrible.

PLEASE NO LIZARD YET.

I just feel like if the series is going to be rebooted, the first villain should be a character that is formidable and unique, one that will still set a tone for the series, providing awesome action that we haven't seen before. The last thing I want to see is a sympathetic, completely CGI villain that is essentially Jekyll/Hyde.

Don't get me wrong, I have much faith in Webb and this creative team to make an incredible film, and I'm sure The Lizard could be done well, but I'm just not a fan of the idea.
