So do the bastards blow it up in this one? Or the apes just take over?

I havent seen the originals in ages but isnt the overtaking first and then to try and retake the planet the humans nuke it?

So my guessing is the end of this film will feature a nuclear launch.

[BLACKOUT]and then que: food fight[/BLACKOUT]

I hope it does end with the nuking. Or maybe the apes nuke us.....

The original Apes film never said anything about nukes as far as I can remember.

So is this going to be how the Apes rose while Taylor was in space? We know how the Apes took over after Cornellius and Zira went back in time. That was their son Ceasar. That was an alteration of the timeline with the same result. Kinda like Terminator. But we never saw how they originally took over.
Or I guess this movie is more likely to be unrelated.

Weta are the studio that made people stand up and notice amazing special effects, both practical and digital in the 21st century.

ILM aren't.

Saying they could is one thing, but ILM haven't done a single project in the past decade that has raised the profile of FX and have had people talking like Weta have.

um ILM invented cg visual effects lol and every movie they've made has upped the bar for vfx...

from all the starwars practical/vfx
terminator's cg
twisters ground breaking particle effects
jurassics parks cg
transformers..the most complex cg characters ever created
potc arguably most photo real character ever made
Abyss water dynamics
lemony snickets first photoreal cg human
Rango cg which looks better than any animated film ever made
...thats all a fraction of what they've done, and at a fraction of the time and cost it took to make avatar lol

lol if anything ilm should be the ones saying "from the vfx company that brought you___"

im not saying they suck though they're still incredibly amazing...just not sure why they need to say that crap in the trailer like they are the best.

They played this trailer during Scream 4, my audience seemed more amused than scared.

Personally, I don't think this movie will be good. Caesar's rise with the rest of the apes and the CG could be the only great things about the film.

I think it's kinda redundant if it's suppose to connect to the original series. Seeing as 3-5 essentially told HOW the Apes took over Earth.

Perhaps,But there is still some hope left for writing&directing and we won't know about that until the final movie comes out!

the trailer looked ok, its one of the movies i'm most interested to see this year, i've always wondered how the apes take over

don't know if i'd take orders from an ape though :D

Of course, but that's just my feeling right now. It could change, but this trailer didn't really do anything great for me other than the things I mentioned already.

The face eating might sway you.

Well, it can't be worse than this, can it?:oldrazz:

I had no interest in this movie.

...and then I saw the trailer. NOW i'm interested.

I'm sure it's already been said but....is this a prequel to the original movie or the remake?

I don't believe it has any connection to the Tim Burton remake.

Though if you wanted to believe it does, I don't see an issue either. I mean you're talking about a (possible?) 300-400 year time gap between the two where in the Burton version, they're already running the planet.

In this prequel, it literally is the beginning...of the end.

POTA2001 really isn't as bad as some of you people make it out to be. I thought it was good for what it was. A fun entertaining popcorn movie. Could it have been better? Sure. But I still enjoyed it. It was one of the better movies that summer, imho. There's plenty of things to enjoy. Everything from the make-up, costume design, production design, visual effects, "the hunt" scene, Elfman's score, Bonham Carter's, Roth's, and Giamatti's perfomances, Heston's cameo, etc. etc. FOX and the writers should get the blame of why this movie wasn't as good as it could of been. FOX rushed this movie as always. A continuingly bad habit that they have had with releasing big movies. A bad habit that they picked up back when they were making Alien 3. And the so-so script ritten by the writers of Superman IV and Mighty Joe Young (1998). Yeah I believe the movie could of been better. But I still thought it was entertaining and fun to watch.

Now as for this new movie. I still have no excitement for it. I haven't bother checking out the new trailer. I wasn't (and still ain't) thrilled about the idea of CGI apes. FOX wanted to go that direction with the Burton film at first. Thank goodness Burton refused. I think that's definitely one thing the Burton film will have over the reboot for sure. B/c he went with Rick Baker's make up and had the actors go to ape school. So they actually look like walking talking apes, monkeys, chimps, etc, etc. Not Andy Serkis (oh brother) doing all the ape movement in some motion capture outfit.

Another thing I found funny is that Rick Baker did the make up for POTA2001 film and Serkis is doing movement and acting for the apes in the reboot. Just like Rick Baker was the man in the KK suit in 1976 KK remake. While Serkis did the acting and the movements in motion capture for the 2005 Peter Jackson remake. I 've heard people say they preferred the 1976 remake over the 2005 remake. I wonder if that's any sign for this reboot.

Anyways nobody asked for another POTA movie. Plus it's a rushed production once again. So I'll wait for dvd. If I decide it's worth watching. But so far not impressed yet.

Damn, didn't realize the trailer came out. Need to check that out.

I'm sure it's not a coincidence, but for the last several weeks, all of the originals have been on cable constantly. I'm planning on recording them. It's been years since I've seen any of them.
