I liked the trailer as well, but it seems like there is plenty of room for this movie to go either way, seemingly, more in the direction of failure than than success.

Agreed, the young/baby chimps don't look very good at all, but when Ceaser is fully grown look really good in some shots.

That international trailer its sooo much better than the ones we have gotten. It actually looks like a pretty damn good movie from that trailer. The ape effects are ridiculously great especially when he fixes how Lithgow is holding the fork. Wow.

Green Lantern had good trailers?

The first trailer for GL was horrible. The later trailers were better, but you could still see some crappy cgi.

The trailers for this movie have been very good. However, as you said, it doesn't necessarily reflect the quality of the movie. But compared to GL, this looks so much better atleast CGI wise.

Looks good
