Robert Kirkman To Write New Killraven Book...

Good writer for the concept, but terrible artist. Ugh, fate is a cruel mistress.

I might give it a try, but lord do I hate Liefield's art.

i just fail to see the "how" and the "why" here...kirkman's ALWAYS paired himself with talented artists.

what the hell happened?

That's like sex with Rosie O'Donnel. Yeah, it's sex, but it's just not worth it.

Thank heavens she's a lesbian. :wow:

As for why Liefield, either:

1). Marvel's continued welfare program for it's 90's starchild mixed with Joe Q's "Dartboard O' Assignments" alligned poorly.

2). He is holding some loved one of Kirkman's hostage.

3). A dare.

4). He might have some hyponotic charm ability that sways any writer.

that last one may have some truth to it. somehow, the likes of alan moore and jeph loeb cannot be convinced of the suckage that is rob liefeld.

To be fair, I've heard nothing of the writing from ONSLAUGHT REBORN to suggest that Loeb is doing his top work on that book.

I believe the two are friends. That's one reason Liefeld works with Loeb alot.

Anyway, this will be awful. Kirkman's such an good writer, but he keeps choosing projects that're doomed to fail

You have to make risky projects like that to end up with a MARVEL ZOMBIES type hit. C'mon, who really thought that'd be as hot as it was? Be honest.

i did not. i did however accurately predict the success of "the walking dead". once tony moore's preview art hit the internet, it was a lock.

I'd rather Kirkman try some ideas that are against the grain, like IRREDEEMABLE ANT-MAN, rather than put out one generic title after another just to guaretee a hit, like "Bendis on any book but POWERS" or "Generic Team Book #356".

Of course, the Liefield art will likely bring me to shudder. That alone may keep me away.

exactly. i think part of what makes kirkman such a skilled writer is his ability to create worlds. "invincible" started as a hero's take but has evolved into a book that encompases the title character, his friends, and the rest of the world's heroes; all the while keeping one of tightest continuities on the planet.

ant-man's the same way. he's creating a new take on the lives of s.h.i.e.l.d. agents. what started as a buddy comic, quickly turned solo, and now looks like it's going to share it's pages with damage control.

definitely not generic.

No thanks. Not even having Kirkman involved can get me to buy that s**t. I'd rather gouge my eyes out with a flaming hot poker recently shoved up Joey Q's butt.

Like I needed that imagery. :wow:

Least Killraven dumped the purple Storm boots and has pants now.:o

Whoa, what?

It doesn't have to be generic, Marvel Zombies wasn't generic.

But I never questioned that Marvel Zombies would be popular, I knew it was a messed up idea that would attract people from day one. But I also knew that Ant-Man wouldn't last for very long just like Killraven w on't either because it doesn't matter how much quality you pour into either of those books or how much word of mouth is spread, nobody really cares about either of those characters, they simply cannot support titles.

Marvel Team-Up was excellent too, but being that it's, what? our fifth Marcel Team-Up series it wasn't going to last either. The one series that worked, and titles like it such as Marvel Comics Presents, only lasted as long as they did because they were being published in eras when comics were cheaper and selling 10x as many copies.

Whoa, what?

the last issue of ant-man ended with the "new" damage control, seemingly featuring monstro.

considering kirkman's penchant for balancing mutliple characters and storylines withingone monthly title, there's a pretty good chance these guys might stick around.

Because the concept seemed lame and I'm not a huge fan of Kirkman.
