Robin Hood Reboot: Avengers Style

This thing won’t even crack the top five. It’ll be buried by Wreck-It Ralph 2, Fantastic Beasts, Creed II, The Grinch, and most likely Bohemian Rhapsody.

Currently at 17% on RT. That score seems a bit high, don'tcha think?

Naw. It doesn’t look like the worst movie ever made or anything. It just looks terminally bleh, something completely disposable that didn’t need to exist.

Exactly my thoughts. I will not be going to see it.

But you can damn well be sure I will leave it on in the background and intermittently pay attention to it when it comes on FX in a few years!

The last Robin Hood concept that I thought had potential as a movie was Nottingham. That got turned into the garbage 2010 film by Ridley Scott, who basically trashed everything about the concept that was unique and new.

Now we have this piece of trash that's basically the 2018 King Arthur.

This weekend I think I'm just gonna watch this instead:

Still the best ever!!! Interesting that nobody's done better after all this time!! But those moviemakers knew that a very important element of the Robin Hood legend is fun. Modern RH movies want to be dark, gritty and dramatic when that's not what the original stories were like at all.

It’s because everyone else tries to “reinvent” Robin Hood.

I'm pretty sure I already said this, but Hollywood needs to stop trying to make Robin Hood happen.

Um, excuse me but someone absolutely did.

I'm not even joking.

Also one of my favorites!! :) They can be co-champions.

I guess I’m one of the few that liked the last King Arthur? Charlie Hunnam was the worst choice for lead...

Sooo... Was it set in a post-post apocalyptic world? From the brief reviews I have read it seems not.

I seriously don't get what it is. It's like they've been trying to ride off the coattails off Prince of Thieves for the last 28 years.

David Ehrlich's review is gold. He's been killing it this year.

Alan Rickman>Ben Mendelsohn.

For one Rickman didn’t give the exact same performance in like a dozen movies in a row.

Prince of Thieves wasn't all that great to be honest. Rickman is still the best Sheriff of Nottingham though. Honestly, Errol Flynn's film is still the best Robin Hood movie. I don't get why a modern version of that can't be made. Just stick to the basics and do a fun swashbuckling adventure. We don't get those type of movies anymore. They've tried every variation possible of Robin and it's gotten nowhere. Go back to what worked.

Maybe writing a fun, swashbuckling Robin Hood is harder than writing a dark, grim Robin Hood.

And people always forget about Mel Brooks' first foray into the Robin Hood legend, "When Things Were Rotten", probably because it only lasted for one half season on ABC in 1975.

Gutted as I have been a big fan of Taron's movie's lately but this looks like a total dumpster fire.
