Robin Hood

Poster is a little uninspired.

It's the classic Robin Hood image. They were bound to use it somewhere. I'm sure there will be a few other posters that feature more original images.

It looks interesting, but I'm still feeling a little "meh" on it. Like others have said, if we're going for a more serious take on the character, I would have liked to see the reversed story with Nottingham as a good guy.

I think it's because I'm more in the mood for a more swashbuckling Robin Hood. I wouldn't mind it if they remade it in the same mold as the first POTC.

I think that's going to be what puts some off it. Robin Hood is a dark tale, but the character pretty much enjoys what he does, even if he does have to get his hands dirty at times, because he's righting a wrong.

Oo-de-lally, Hoo-de-lally, golly what a day! :hehe:

Ridley Scott wants 3D 'Robin Hood'

Ridley Scott wants his next film to be converted into the 3D format, according to The Wrap.

The British director is allegedly trying to persuade executives at Universal to invest an extra $7 to $8 million to create a 3D version of his $200 million Robin Hood movie.

The potential move to 3D has reportedly been prompted by the success of James Cameron's Avatar, which has grossed more than $600 million at the worldwide box office since its release on December 17.

Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, is due in cinemas on May 14.

this is weird. and im not sure why. maybe it just looks like they're taking robin hood TOO seriously? i guess i always saw robin hood with more rebellious wit and cocky swagger, which i didnt take from these trailers.

It's more or less how I feel. I mean, if they were going for a dramatic story, I would have rather they have done the Nottingham is a good guy twist. Now that they're doing a basic Robin Hood story, I would like to see some of the swashbuckling Robin.

I would prefer to see this in 3D. Not because of the arrows flying at me...but just because it tends to add more depth to a scene. Seeing characters watching in the background and forground feels a little more real that way. It makes even talking scenes more engaging.

This looks really good to me! However, I would prefer to not have this in 3d.

Yeah, I don't think 3D is the way to go on a film like this. It just seems unecessary. Then again, maybe it could be cool. I'd see it either way.

But damn, is the budget really $200 million?! That's a HUGE risk for a film like this. Crowe's box office appeal isn't what it used to be, and neither is Scott's, for that matter. And even if this is the greatest Robin Hood movie ever made, there are still people who are going to think "been there, done that" when this movie comes out. Of course, if it turns out to be truly epic, I suppose that word of mouth could bring people in... if critical reactions are really strong, I suppose it might even get Oscar buzz, but that's a big "if."

I guess next we'll get a remake of the Scarlet Pimpernel where he decapitates everyone in the kingdom, then licks the blood off the sword.

I would like to see a Scarlet Pimpernel movie...
Also i hope crowe has a Yorkshire accent in this movie and from watching the trailer it sounds like he does.

Im getting a very "meh" vibe from the trailer. Not sure at all if I'll like this.

Jesus, $200 million? I'm pretty damn sure it's not going to make that back.

And yes, I think the POTC vibe is a better way to go. But hell, the idea of the sheriff being the good guy was a great idea. I heard the script was ****, but with Scott, it could of been great.

i don't that they are downplaying the role of the Sheriff in this version. Supposedly.

So I expect in about 10 more years Russel Crowe and Ridley Scott will make another movie about mythology?

2000 - Gladiator

2010 - Robin Hood

2020 - ?

Although I can't wait for this film.

Maybe a King Arthur movie?? :woot:

IMO the best Robin Hood will always be Errol Flynn. :yay:
