Rocky 6

Doubtful.

Even if the movie is good, i doubt he will get this nomination again. His time is gone.
I wouldn't count him out.

Okay, but let me explain my thoughts.

Stallone was great in 70s and 80s. It was his age, and he was very intersting as actor.

But now, he lost something that made him at first a very good actor. He's not original anyway.

Now, there are more talented actors, who can show the best from their abilities (like Bale, DiCaprio, Norton, Jackman and etc).

So I see there no Stallone for Best Actor nomination.

So, he's not good because he's old?

How is he not original, exactly?

No, no.

I mean, just look at Nicholson. Yeah, he's old, but this only makes him more great looking.

He always tries to give something new to his characters.

Age doesn't matter, talent does.

Stallone looked awesome in his early movies. But he always played the same characters, who looked similar to each other.

Don't get me wrong, I like him. But we have already seen his Rocky Balboa several timnes and from what I saw, he decided to not change his character.

He is just like Schwarznegger (who is also one of my fav action heroes), who always stays as Terminator.

Where are you seeing it?

Detroit. He's got 3 different Premiere's tonight within the city and mine's the last one at 8:00pm tonight.

Rocky and Rambo, easily his two most well known characters, and they were both acted to perfection. It all really depends on the script. Stallone is actually an extremely talented writer, and when he nails a script, he tends to really hit it out of the park in terms of acting. I think your short changing him too much. And why would he change Rocky in this movie? It's the same character! Should Christopher Reeve have played Superman as the anti-Christ in Superman IV? Should Harrison Ford have played Indiana Jones as a gay cowboy in The Last Crusade?

Nicholson played Costello just as he's played countless other roles in his career, but he's still almost a lock for a nomination.

And I don't see how his look has anything to do with his acting. That's just asinine. Jack Nicholson looks like Jack Nicholson in all of his movies. And the same for Leonardo Dicaprio. Doesn't change the fact that DiCaprio IS going to win best actor this year. It's almost locked.

Sounds awesome. I have to look out for some early showing here in Philly.

SAW THE FILM LAST NIGHT - it's a good send-off for the character and has some good emotional moments in the film. I will say Adrian not being there caused a pretty big hole, and Little Marie tried to fill it, but couldn't quite do it. Rocky has a spectacular "discussion" with his son in the film which I thought was great. If you're a true Rocky fan, you'll enjoy a lot of moments in the film, that's for sure. I'll have a full review up later today.

I got to meet Sly himself as well as Emanuel Steward and Tommy Hearns. The reason why it was in Detroit was to save the famous KRONK GYM, which is an institution here and was founded by Emanuel. Stallone talked before the film, Emanuel gave him a personal Kronk Gym leather jacket, and Tommy Hearns even talked about his fights and him coming out to the ring with the Rocky music playing and how it inspired him. I'll try to have some pics up as soon as I can.

Our own local newscaster, Diana Lewis, was re-united with Sylvester Stallone. She was in the first film as well as the fifth film - you might recognize her here:

Yeah, but there is no another drama movie with him, where he changes himself (like Bale in Machinist for example). Stallone is good screenwriter, I'll agree with you there. But this doesn't make him great actor. And he should have changed this time his another Rocky movie. Why? Because we have already seen millions of movies like this one, where the main characters goes up from dawn. This is too predictable and usual. And you just don't want to listen to me. I was talking about Stallone, not about his characters. But again, Rocky is Stallone's the most famous character. Rocky was his, he wasn't am American icon like Superman. And BTW, Indy did really have development in third movie.

Disagreed. Nicholson as I said before, gave new look to his character. Costello was a philosopher and mob boss at the same time. His dialogues and performances are great.

Oh God! Even DiCaprio's haters can admit that he was amazing in The Departed, so that's a new stage for him as an actor.

Some more pics from someone else that was there in Detroit - I was just as close as well, but at the end of the red carpet.

Just seeing the TV spot is painful. Stallone can't even mumble coherently anymore.

Milk,

what did you say to Stallone? What was it like to meet him?

It was so ridiculous with the people I don't know if he heard me, I just said thanks for bringing the character back. He needed a better send off, and we got one.

I for one loved Rocky V. Then again, anything would be an improvement over IV. That was an abomination to me.

how can anyone like rocky V its the worst film ever
theres not even a real fight, its a freakin street fight

Don't you mean hair's being added to the wig? ;)

That's what makes the fight so awesome. He's fighting to protect his family and to exact justice on someone who's lost his way - he's not fighting to "win a title," or to prove something... he's fighting for what's RIGHT.

He's fighting because the "puppet" knocked Paulie on his ass...
