Rogue, they ruined her, or did they?

I believe that they ruined Rouge by taking the cure, but will it last? She may get her powers back like Magneto.. tell me what you think.

She had better because my Gambit needs a lover.

Although I wouldn't protest too vehemently, I would find it a bit silly if everyone who died/was cured is suddenly fine in X4.

I don't think she took the cure in the first place.

I hope not...Logan did tell her not to do it for some boy. They only person she wants to touch and love on is Bobby.

i think rogue took the cure but i mean from the movie rogue that was expected i hope the cure is not permanent tho cuz it wasnt wit magneto

Rogue, like Angel, served the movie best by being a symbol for mutant self-hatred. This is far more important than Rogue being in an extended fight scene.
Too bad it completely undermines everything positive the character was working towards in the previous two movies.

She could have served just as well by actually taking a stand and not taking the cure . . . no one said she had to be in a fight scene.

I think that if there is an X4 we'll find out that the cure wasn't permanent. They'll probably find that the cure only had a temporary effect.

Oh, well when they are with Leech they loose there powers but when they arent they have there powers, so maybe after a while the cure stops working as they get older.

I think the cure is limited...like Leech's powers.

Rogue was a horrible character in the movies, they didnt use her the right way.
The only reason she was even in X1 was because Singer wanted her, and had the script re-written to have her in it instead of Kitty.

X3 did absolutely nothing for Rogue. She got all pissy over Bobby and Kitty, told Bobby he was only interested in one thing, had a brief exchange with Wolverine and was off to take the cure. :down

There was much potential to explore her struggle with an opportunity to be 'normal' placed against standing with her new family and it was wasted. Rogue had a progression in the first two X-flicks from scared little girl to actually getting her stripes and showing some value in the midst of a crisis. X2 even gave her that scene in the Blackbird where she got pissed at Magneto and Mystique. It was almost comic Rogue sassy.

X3 regressed the character tremendously. They provided a resolution, but the purpose of being at the School was to come to terms with being a mutant and learning how to come to grips with all that encompasses. They could have easily set her up as having more of an inner resolve, accepting who she is and truly becoming an X-Man. Rogue's character is probably the biggest example of how rushed this movie was and where some of its promise was lost.

Yea, it would be real funny if Bobby and Marie were gettin' it on, and all of a sudden her powers come back.

How so? If anyone would take the cure it's Rogue. Her mutant powers were always a curse, especially in X1 and X2.
Yes, but her character was working towards acceptance of her curse. It was the reason she returned to the X-Men in part 1. It was a development in her relationship with Bobby in part 2. And then she suddenly loses her conviction when an easy opportunity presents itself. It's like the X-Men taught her nothing at all which, again, completely contradicts the previous movies.

Exactly my thoughts.

It does not serve the story for Rogue to get cured. These movies and comics mirror events like The Civil Rights movement of the 60's. What if white men had come out with a cure to "fix" African Americans? That would be absolutely stupid. Rogue mirrors the struggles many people today are and have gone through...gay rights, black rights, women's rights, etc...For her to cop out and take a cure to be like everyone else is stupid and retroactive of the comic's whole mission to unite all man in the 60's.

LMAO! I was thinking this too, poor Bobby would have to sheath himself in ice real quick! :D

Um...Question... If Rogue took the cure, wouldn't her white strands in her hair be gone? ...

I don't have a problem with Rogue taking the cure, but I feel like they should have explored the character a bit more. She needed more scenes.

No, her hair was not a mutation, it was an alteration from the machine.

Nope. Those are permanent physical effects.

In the hands of a good writer, this would be the opportunity to make her even better. Have her powers come back 10 fold including all the powers she has ever absorbed and the memories and thoughts of the people she's touched. Really make her even more conflicted than before and have a transition into the more recognizable Rogue of comic lore.

I like that the cure is only temporary. She has a taste of a life again without fear and out of nowhere the nightmare returns...They have to make an X4. :)
