I enjoyed the first episode alot.
PS. Is it just me or is this somewhat similiar to Highlander? The name alone had me confused with Highlander and we got Scots! :b
This seems more of a docu-drama (showcasing Scottish culture) than an actual tv series.
I'd really like it if this show would use subtitles when people are speaking French and Gaelic. Can't imagine what they gain by leaving the viewers clueless about what's being said.
I was beginning to think they had cut Claire's beating and then ol' Blackjack showed his true colors. God, he is such a sadist!
The French part in this episode was of no interest, the Officer asked if Claire talked French, she said yes, then he went on and called her a "putain" ( ****e ).
For a moment I thought the Officer had inner conflicts but no, he's just sadistic.
I didn't watch the whole lash scene either, I could not bare the lad tartar steak back.
Btw, the Officer is Claire's husband ancestor right ? ( the razor heirloom ).
After watching the Passion of The Christ and most recently 12 Years A Slave i've become pretty de-sensitized to flogging scenes.

Ive seen Passion a lot and 12 Years once and this flogging looked visually worse to me. Sure the movies have the edge due to the subject matter, but visually this is the most disgusting flogging Ive ever seen. I can handle lashes and stripes and bone exposed, but his back was nothing but hanging strips of meat. When someone's back starts looking like fresh beef I get a little sick.
This one was worse.
