I thought it would be great to combine our pics of rory and create a screen saver to celebrate the 2 year anniversary. So any one with pics or tech savy, let's get on it!

Rory The Pumpkin and his lil buddy Dick the Candle!!!
Heck yes!
I wish I had some pics

Come on let's get some pictures!!! As many as we can get!

I just emailed 42 to see if I could get the progression pics. Keep yours coming though.

I'm all for this idea, however, it may be tough to get it done.

Best case scenerio would be if someone had the original Flash source files from the original website, which I realize is a long shot....Otherwise, it would be hard to get that real life flicker effect with stills, and we would need larger, higher quality images than the ones we have so far. I only found 1 Rory video on YouTube and it wasn't the complete transformation.

Hopefully 42E responds and we can get something together.

Do we have a bigger version of Rory? I'd like him as a wallpaper.

I'm finally making a move to put together a compilation of the ARG. Thanks to the Wayback Machine, I have an idea of where to look for Rory, but I'm not familiar enough with Javascript to read this correctly. This is of course, assuming that the Rory swfs still exist on their servers. :funny: I got some black to show up one time instead of just "The page cannot be found" so maybe they haven't taken him down. Of course, the Wayback Machine doesn't show Rory at all so maybe he's gone up to the pumpkin pie in the sky. :csad: No hurt trying though...

We know Rory was put up on Oct 17.

From Oct 20, the relevant page source looks like this:

<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>swfName = 'hg7r43io090';</script>

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

swfUrl = 'swfs/' + swfName;
myWidth = '1024';
myHeight = '600';
myID = 'pumpkin';
myBGColor = '#000000';

From Oct 23:

<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>swfName = 'pok234nsdn3w';</script>

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

swfUrl = 'swfs/' + swfName;
myWidth = '1024';
myHeight = '600';
myID = 'pumpkin';
myBGColor = '#000000';

From Oct 26:
script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>swfName = 'hu93fwe7wg';</script>

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

swfUrl = 'swfs/' + swfName;
myWidth = '1024';
myHeight = '600';
myID = 'pumpkin';
myBGColor = '#000000';

From Oct 28:
<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>swfName = 'hf83ksmal3';</script>

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

swfUrl = 'swfs/' + swfName;
myWidth = '1024';
myHeight = '600';
myID = 'pumpkin';
myBGColor = '#000000';

From Oct 30:
<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>swfName = 'slhe789nsf';</script>

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

swfUrl = 'swfs/' + swfName;
myWidth = '1024';
myHeight = '600';
myID = 'pumpkin';
myBGColor = '#000000';

I managed to get a black page to show up for http://www.whysoserious.com/swfs/slhe789nsf.swf, but no Rory.

On Nov 2, the source looks like this:

<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>swfName = 'container_ending'; swfWidth = '1224'; swfHeight = '1088'; ;</script>

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">

swfUrl = assetsUrl + 'swfs/' + swfName;
myWidth = swfWidth; //'1024';
myHeight = swfHeight; //'600';
myID = 'pumpkin';
myBGColor = '#000000';
I get a gray bar for http://www.whysoserious.com/swfs/container_ending.swf but nothing else. I think the container ending links to other Flash files, since the Wayback Machine has that up even after 49 locations.

Whew! So I guess this is our last ditch effort to look for Rory! Any takers? :funny:

Okay, after finding a free Flash decompiler, I've acquired rotten Two-Face Rory layers. Sans candle, since apparently the flame was a separate video in the swf and my program isn't exporting it. I'll do a bit more snooping around before I give up, haha.

Nice Anita! :woot:

I have a friend who is somewhat of a flash guru, I'll see if he can make anything of your discoveries as well...

Since I had to go into the Wayback Machine to find the file (it was the last one I posted that came up black - all of Rory's layers were transparent but a Flash decompiler can export that), it's likely that the older versions are gone. 49 locations seems to be gone for good too, but I could probably shop together a low-quality mockup with the screenshots I already have and the burning paper pictures I decompiled and exported from the clowntravelagency flash file. :hehe:

In other news, all of the IBIHD pages seem to be dead. :cmad: WTH, the biggest page in the game and it's gone! Hmph. At least I have screenshots of it as well as the Wiki, better than nothing.

And can I say the programmers at 42E were insane? The steeplechase game had like, 50 separate images that all had to be animated. :o And I still have no idea how they could have written "win game when player's computer is set to 7:38AM" into the Mausoleum game's code, but then again I am looking at decompiled code and my programmer boyfriend said it could look messier than usual.

He's insane too, he likes working on iPhone games and he's been programming one in his free time for months. :funny:

These are what I have in my stash:

just wondered if anyone was able to save and download the whole thing...it'd be cool to see the rory in all his glory leading up to halloweeny!

Can't believe were already coming up on our second halloween after...

I know what you mean! I loved that time. Literally loved it. The excitement, the atmosphere and (this is gonna sound pretty strange) the way the weather and environment was where I live at the time around Halloween.
Because of rory and 42e they have made me love the Halloween season.
I would give anything to go back to the viral time

Just spoke to Heather from 42 entertainment. She sounded amped about the idea and said she would try to find who owns it and if possible hook us up with the whole thing!!!! I'll keep you guys posted, but i sounded like there is a good shot we can get it.

Ask her if she can get us the 49 locations Flash swf file and the voice mails, because I'm missing quite a few and I have no idea where they've gone. :oldrazz:

I was going to email Susan Bonds about it, but I haven't bothered to yet.....

I can't believe it's been 2 years ago when we would gather every night to watch Rory melt and warp a little bit more. Damn good times.

This looks pretty simple to carve, anyone done it? I'll upload a template if anyone wants to carve one. Care if I put mine in this thread? (carved pumpkin and template)

And I must echo the viral loss, I LOVED that time. I cant think of another time a movie had so many people come together out of excitment. That time was rare, and one of a kind.

Agreed. I can't remember since being a kid (waiting for the Star Wars flicks) when I anticipated a movie as much as the Dark Knight. I had as much fun or more with the virals as I did watching the movie.
