Well 75% is a new realistic "goal" we can strive to for RT reviews I suppose

If ASM2 breaks 75%, I will be shocked. Electro pun intended. Kidding aside, I don't see it happening, maybe I would be more open to the score going higher than 75% but not with the current rating of 6.1/10.

75% is a reachable goal. I do think the average score doesn't indicate much of an upward trend, and America critics tend to be more picky with CBMs, but I think reaching 75% is doable. But, I see it falling to closer to 70%, give or take 3ish percent.

Why are US critics more picky with CBMs than UK or Australian critics? I actually only noticed the trend when it happened to IM3.

I don't think they are "more picky". Just simply a lot more different opinions, writing for vastly different publications and sites.

I tend to think it is because superheroes are mostly American creations, so we tend to pick them apart more. That and it seems like American critics tend to not like blockbusters because of the formulaic nature of them.

That's the reason they open all these movies overseas first. They want to get the film off on a decent foot, before getting savaged by the U.S critics.(I wouldn't mind so much, but it's harder to not get spoiled 2 weeks in advance of the film's release.)

It has nothing to do with the critics, but OS pirating that can seriously hurt OS ticket sales.

The movie really has some major problems, hence 6.1/10. Im betting somewhere near 65% when all is said and done.

Currently at a 55/100 on Metacritic. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if the movie winds up on the same level as SM3 in terms of critical reception.

Well that would be quite unfair as it is vastly superior to that film

Well I wouldn't go that far. To me, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 was just as terrible as SM3 ;) Definetly the worst movie I've seen in 2-3 years.

:funny:That's still higher than man of steel. At any rate man of steel was at 56% at the end of its run and I still enjoy the hell out of that movie.

Yeah Amazing Spider-Man 2 *SHOULD* be somewhere at 40%, but for some reason it got good early reviews on RT so thats why I was betting on it going down to just 65%.

To be fair I didn't like MOS but it's still a hell of a lot better than this movie. Im guessig WB aren't as good at rigging RT scores as Sony... Or it's just critics being weird ;)

You clearly haven't seen many movies then.

Saying you didn't like the movie is fair and you are of course entitled to your opinion. However, suggesting the movie *SHOULD* be somewhere at 40% implies everyone should agree with your opinion and I, for one, do not.

I'm all for this movie earning a 75% or higher and it's a possibility that could happen. BUT...like you say US critics are harsher on CBMs and the score usually drops once the movie hits our shores. Again, pointing out the 6.1/10 rating, I just don't see this film hitting 75%. I'll be happy with anything over 70% though.

It's cause us Americans have such high standards :o

Probably because they've seen similar movies a thousand times each year, that they're sick of seeing the same old thing ...thus, naturally allowing them to be more critical of the film.

It's basically the smartphone mentality (where people get hyped over new smartphone releases, and possible innovations, only to be disappointed that the technology is the same).

I see some action has been goin on
Good to see Spidey staying at 72 but at this point I don't care where the percent goes
I'm in for entertainment and to enjoy myself as a spidey fan

Agreed but it's worth mentioning since no one youth this would be a possibility a month ago.

Cap is my favorite superhero along with Thor, and an upset here would really deaden the irrational beliefs that Cap is a "B" grade hero who could never beat a Spider-man or Superman at the BO.

@ Hammer! I guess there's a first for everything and it may be just me but I feel that MCU is a trend right now everyone loves what they're doing and what not
and are pretty much saying eehh to films outside some have called sony fake marvel and so on and so forth but I guess we'll find out either way got my ticket for may 2nd
i'm seeing it in the morning yeah 3D and IMAX the only way to be seen for this

I give the worst movie I've seen in several years honor to Anchorman 2.

you may be on to something. Come to think of it, a lot of good action/adventure stuff came out in the last 2 years. Films like Prometheus or Thor Dark World are somewhere near the bottom of my list, and those were still entertaining films.

Fair point. I guess I'm just kinda surprised at how bad it seemed to me in comparison with other superhero movies that came out recently. I mean if this is an 8/10 movie then how do you rate The Dark knight, Winter Soldier or Spider-Man 2? 12/10?

I dunno, maybe Im being too critical, everyone should see for themselves I mean it's still a Spider-Man movie :) Normally I'm a positive person, it's just that as a fan I'd like to see Spidey get the same quality treatment as other Marvel characters. If you can do a great Cap script, why can't you figure out a great Spider-Man story, especially since there is a lot more to work with (great villains, awesome multi-layered character, countless great storylines to adapt).
