The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Rotten Tomatoes score? - Part 2

You say this like Spider-Man 3 wasn't a sequel to Spider-Man, which was the origin. Batman was the start of the franchise, and told the story of Batman's origin. Origin story.

Spider-Man 3 was a sequel to an origin story, but that film specifically is not an origin story.

I'd like an answer to my question please. Or are you avoiding something that you have no real answer for like with Spider-Fan.

I'm not "avoiding" anything. I'm just tired of this debate... or argument... whatever you want to call it. Almost midnight for me so I'm getting read to check out soon.

Even the critically acclaimed movies have negative reviews with legitimate points. It's like saying the 6% of critics who gave TDK a rotten review have an ant-Nolan bias considering the majority like it. :funny:
That is because they do.

:cwink:

Because no film is necessary.

That's if you take the definition of necessary to the extreme. If no film is necessary, when why is it still popular and profitable to this day (in spite of piracy etc.)? Because people expect to see a great story unfold with the films they watch. The same goes for Spider-Man. If the story they get in The Amazing Spider-Man series does not measure up to or exceed the previous series, it begs the question: why even bother with the series to begin with?

They tied Sandman to the death of Uncle Ben in Spider-Man 3. Does that count as an origin story, too?

You're comparing a sequel in an already existing series, to two different series.

Who argued otherwise? We would all agree with that.

Yeah, I thought so.

I really don't understand the passive aggressive hostility here... you'd think people could have a simple conversation with opposing view points civilly. This should be a discussion, not a competition.

I find it kinda ridiculous that anyone would believe a critic or a group of critics would have an agenda against a film or series. It's their job to view these films and give their opinions. The first two Raimi movies were critically praised. so obviously they have nothing against the character. TWS was just heavily praised, so they don't have an agenda against superhero films or even a bias. ASM2 simply hasn't wowed the majority of the critics. I mean as others have said all that matters at the end of the day is whether you enjoyed the film. I enjoy IM2, but I recognize why others don't. I'll watch ASM2 and love it, hate it or be apathetic towards based on what I see on the screen, not on the tomatometer. But I do think people need to relax a bit. DarthSkywalker and others aren't negative or trying to bash the film(Which I believe they haven't even seen.) They are merely observing and commenting on reviews/reactions.

The boards tend to get out of hand at times, but that's just the way it is. Anyways, let's get back to the point of the thread... the RT score.

The audience rating is still at 81%. How much do you guys thing it'll drop?

Nope, haven't seen it yet. Will Friday, bright and early.

Finally, a voice of reason.

while looks like no changes for 80% now I hope that it can at least get to 75 but even that is going to be hard now. We need 14 possitve reviews in a row just to get back to 75. I don't think I have ever been has schocked by a movie before oh want spider man 3 lol this sucks.

Spider-Man 3 was the movie that taught me to adjust my expectations. I had such high hopes for it and then felt completely deflated. I've been excited about this movie, but also cautious. At this point I don't see it besting the first's tomato-meter. It'll settle around 67%-72%.I can't see getting any higher.

The Phantom Menace was the one that did it to me.

I know you guys are only talking about the RT rating bouncing between the 60's and 70's but the metacritic rating is brutal. On metacritic it's currently at 55/100 based on 15 reviews. Maybe it will go up or maybe it won't.... Either way, I am still looking forward to seeing this myself but my hype levels have gone down some.

Some people take it too personally and some sound like their in denial. This is far from the celebration a lot of people thought it would be.

If you would have told anyone here a month ago that this movie would be received worst that than the first they'd call you a troll, but that's exactly what's happening.

A Spider-Man movie is on track to just be another CBM to be forgotten within a couple of weeks after release, like the first one. This series hasn't exactly been the mac daddy that Raimi's series formly was, showing how it's done.

Now it's the underdog that doesn't appear to want to rise up to the big leagues.

Spider-Man 3 was the movie for me, but I was still only a teenager though. MOS was the one that really brought the hammer down. I thought that movie was going to revolutionize CBM forever...

I'm beginning to believe there's a bias against this franchise how can critics compare it to Spiderman 2 they were nothing alike. The first movie got criticism for being a rip off of the first Rami film now this one is getting the same for being a rip off of Spiderman 2. Let's hope now Spiderman doesn't wear a black costume in the next one now

It was one critic who compared it to Spidey 2.

If you're thinking this way, every CBM is quickly forgotten after a couple of weeks of release. But don't presume to speak for all of us in any way.

Spider-Man has been around for 50 years there has been so many different versions over the years including comics, Video games and cartoons can people stop calling the Webb series a rip off of the Rami series because if that's the case every version of Spider-Man is a rip off of eachother

Eh, not every CBM. I'd say most CBMs, though.
