The Dark Knight Rises Roven: Joker Could Return

ok so i think that the joker should be in the third movie... heath was unbelievable but we need the joker to be in the movies along with two face because he was just plain bad ass! but for a recast of the joker, no one will want to top that because it was just unbelievable how it was portrayed .. i'm not saying we need a better performance, but a tribute performance to heath and i believe that joseph gordon levitt is a young talented actor who would be the person to pull it off and is the type of actor that nolan would look for, an actor that is underrated. JGL is perfect for the role and hes already working with nolan in inception so nolan may very well pick him if he is to recast the joker.. any thoughts? let me know

Yeah... just no. :down

look, dont get smart with me. i was only sayin a rumor i heard and was just a suggestion. im really tired of people thinkin that just because heath was the best so far and died means that nobody els should play him. thats almost like sayin that somebody if somebody else died that played batman, then there should never be another batman movie because he was the best and died. nolan has talked himself about bringin the joker back for another film (that's wat he was planning to do b4 heath died). so dont get smart with me for a rumor i heard, that i think would be a good idea. it probably wont even happen anyway recasting wouldnt be anymore disrespectful than if heath was still alive. neither nolan nor heath owned the character if thats wat the fans want then they diserve it, any actor with repect for their fans would do it regaurdless. even heath would want somebody who was right for it to replace him eventually.

Did he say this after Heath died?

No he never said that. He said he could see Heath's Joker in ten more movies. HEATH's Joker. No one else's. And we don't know whether or not he was gonna bring him back. Nolan may have mused about it because of how great he was on set. LIke everyone working the must have all thought "wow, you could use him for ten movies." But other than that that's it.

And cino you're not thinking about it. Replace him later. Not in Nolan's films. When another director takes ahold of the franchise. You're not thinking of Nolan and what he could go through while making it. To suddenly work with an actor who before worked with a man who was his Joker isn't right. And when Heath died, it hit him hard. Going from Heath to this other actor in the same role is strange and isn't right. Heath did everything. Only Heath could come back and do it. And what's the point of another actor doing it? It will only be a good impression. You can't build a performance off a same one from before. It's like trying to play Hannibal Lector. And any actor can tell you he covered everything, he did it, so what's the point of doing it with someone else? Excuses like because he was badass and he needs to comes back or get someone else to play him nonsense. Heath was Nolan's Joker. No one else can replicate it. As great as he was and as great it would be for him to return you can forget it.

u keep sayin wat nolan would have to go through makin the movie. it was his idea in the first place. if u dont think anyone should replace heath thats your opinion. but there are plenty of people who could do just as good a job as heath. just because he died and did a great job doesnt mean no one else should play him. they should save the joker for if nolan decides to do a movie after a 3rd if he even does a third. if u really think no one else could do as good a job as heath, u seriously dont know wat ur talkin about. heath was far from the perfect person to play him, it was because of how hard he worked on the part that he turned out so good. anyone else with the dedication he had to the part could do just as good or even better. dont get it twisted, he was the best but there are people that could do just as good.

yeah he did mention this after heath died. i heard this rumor like last month.

Hahaha. You even admit it's a rumour. Never trust in rumours until they've been proven as fact.

I think in Batman 3 they should CGI Joker as Heath Ledger and use dialogue from Heath's other movies for the talking.

Joker will team up with a new bad guy named FIRE MAN who will crush and burn gotham city and kill alfred and another new character called Donald Jones who is a curropt business man who takes over the gotham city monorail business.

FIREMAN will become joker's new boss

:facepalm

Oh my God. You still don't get it. I would love for him to return but what's the point if Heath already covered the character completely. And he doesn't need to return. Who said he does? Joker left us laughin getting what he wanted, nothing esle needs ot happen. He could of returned if Heath didn't die but that's over. Heath is Nolan's Joker. No one else's. That is exactly how Nolan saw him. Heath and Nolan were on the same exact page when they met to talk about it. No one, it is impossible for someone to do it again. Doing the mannerisms, the same suit, etc, wouldn't matter because it's not Nolan's and Heath's Joker. No one else can replicate it, and if they did (and Nolan isn't stupid for this) it wouldn't be the same. It would just be an impression. It would mean less if someone else payed him and just wouldn't make sense. To see another actor in Heath's make up and costume would just be bad. And if they went with a different look and actor (which is just as bad) it's still not the Joker Nolan wanted. One person can only create that and that is Heath Ledger. No one else can.

This is simple to think about. And you're making me repeat myself.

this makes no sense to me. he didnt completely cover the character. Hell he even says in the movie that him and batman will be fighting each other til the day they both die. I love Ledger and i loved his performance but ledger is not bigger than joker, you can't just throw away the joker forever, hes too iconic of a character. Ya i think there should be a buffer movie before they go and try to bring the joker back to be the full villain, but i still think he should eventually be recasted. I just love how much people hated Ledger when he was first announced as the joker and now every1 says hes the only one allowed to play him.

the joker will eventually be recasted for the movie Supermax(green arrow movie) anyway.

I remember when Heath was cast, my brother scoffed, and many of the rest of the internet rabble incensed over the news, how could a gay cowboy play the Joker....and I got into it defending the guy, 'cause the ignorant did not know Heath was an excellent actor with a heart for what he did, the first I knew of him was in his short lived Fox show Roar....

It's not a question of how iconic Joker has become, or about throwing away the Joker, or about recasting the Joker--he is just too damn overexposed, in film now, cartoons, comics specifically. Let him rest a good long while, unless Nolan would want to use the Joker again, and Nolan would be the one director who could pull off a story with a purpose, which I don't think it's possible if the Joker returns in this franchise. The Dark Knight gave me one of the damn best Joker stories ever, period. I don't think that can be topped in film for a long time. A Joker cameo is another thing entirely.

They should create the greatness that infused Heath's Joker in other Batvillians--that should be the focus. I cannot wait for a Riddler done right, and he is not even done well in the comics. A new Catwoman to rid us of the stench of the last one....what about Talia? Freeze? Poison Ivy? Lady Shiva? Bane? Penguin? If Nolan did them right, it would be heaven. Create something great with those, instead of recreating the Joker--again.

I never understood this criticism. Aren't people aware there's a difference between acting and real life?

How doesn't it make sense? Think about it. Heath covered the Joker that Nolan wante dto tell. If Heath came back to play it you could expand on the role but it's still Heath. This is a completely different story now.

I'm not saying throw away the Joker forever. Where are you getting that. I'm saying he's done with the Nolan movies. Whoever takes on the next franchise there will be another joker. And there will be more Joker's after that. I'm fine with that. But Nolan and Ledger covered this Joker already because this was the Joker the both of them createxd together and fits exactly what Nolan wanted.

And for the record, I did support Ledger when he was first cast, and he has created the definitive Joker for Nolan's world and his vision. And one of the greatest interpretations. Only Heath did that. No one else can. Have him in other movies sure, do it, but not in Nolan's films he won't show up.

And we can get on to doing other villains. We don't need to the Joker all the time especially now. People just want him back because "he was adass or awesome!" Nope not happening. It's just wishful thining and you will be disapointed when you find out Nolan won't have him back.

I want a Batman movie where it can be good and have a convincing villains without people singing the Joker's praises all the time. There's more to Batman than the Joker.

And anyone seriously still believeing the CGI replace him with words rumor or still want it are complete idiots. Really? Really?

This actually strengthen Nolan's theory on Joker being a force that tears through without any explanation. He's like an apparition, he came here knowing what to do, and his task was done, now he can just disapear, as he appeared in the beginning.

I want a Batman movie where it can be good and have a convincing villains without people singing the Joker's praises all the time. There's more to Batman than the Joker.

And Supermax most likely isn't happening.

Quick question guys... if Bale had given an iconic performance for Batman and passed away in the same way as Ledger, would you seriously want the franchise to just reboot? It sounds like some of you would. But I for one don't think a masterpiece franchise such as this should get rebooted, as it would have the potential to be mediocre, and in the case of The Joker take a really long time to actually happen.

Personally I'm more frightened of seeing a non-Nolan directed Joker than a recast any time soon, because atleast we'd be making 'progress' with him and we'd be confident they knew what the heck they were doing, even if the performance wasn't as phenomenal as Heath we know that Chris would make it to his standards and we'd have an immersive storyline to overshadow any flaws. We've seen this rich character have only two interpretations on film, with no expansion past the 2 hr or so deadline, and in my opinion that means they barerly scratched the surface of what they could have done with either Nicholson's or Ledger's Jokers if they were allowed to stay longer. He isn't just any villain, this is the Joker, and he's literally the definition of a recurring menace, not the boring one shot villain that only antagonizes the hero for a month say like in the movies.

I can see everyone's point, but let me put it this way: If Nolan wanted to recast, I wouldn't be panicking.

its a rumor started by nolan's people, he was quoted. too bad i cant prove it though.

Eh, it's just the nature of comic book movies that a villain shows up, battles with the hero for a couple of hours (our time), and then dies or goes to jail. I'm fine with it because, frankly, sometimes less is more. I know the Joker appears in comics all the time but having him in too many Batman movies would be overkill. Just look at how some Superman fans are sick of Luthor to the extent they don't even want him in the next movie to see what happens when a villain is overused.

Bigotry played into it, I think.

Oh, I'm sure it did; it's just a stupid criticism to make.

dang, a third one. sorry. im not makein u repeat yourself, u dont hav to respond at all. if its was nolan's idea and he chose the actor he could make it work, it would just be hard but it could work. and the idea was that he was suposed to be the jokers copycat that look so much like him they believed it was him.

they dont have to use the joker in every batman movie. i think they should only use him twince, since he didnt even die in the dark knight. lex has been used in 5 superman films that were all apart of the same story. the joker doesnt have to be used like that. i would get tired of that.
