The Dark Knight Rises Roven: Joker Could Return

Hmmm maybe. But I don't think it will be that long. It all depends if the general audience gets sick of comic book films and show that with their feet, or lack there of.

If in 10 years time comic book movies are still hot properties I would expect another Batman franchise. Hopefully in a different direction than Nolan's though. I wanna see a Bat film in the mould of Sin City or something like that. As though the comic has been ripped off the page and put onto the big screen.

I think they will do another cb-movies first. There is many famous cb-heroes that has never been in a movie.

I see the revolving door as being easier to resolve in a film series than it is with the comics. The comics have to deal with a continuous timeline involving Arkham, and eventually you'll run out of villains to use if they all stay captive.

Film, at best you'll have 5 or so films to deal with. Within that quantity, you can conceivably "write in" an interesting way to explain how Arkham manages to lose their patients.

Personally, I always looked to Hugo Strange and/or Harleen Quinzell as prime candidates for being the corrupt individuals who secretly let inmates escape.

Agreed.

The comics basically have an unlimited amount of stories to tell. As you said, a film franchise wouldn't usually have more than 5. That's why I think Joker should return. He has a motive and he has the ability to escape. And I think it would be interesting to show that even though Batman and Gordon have made progress, Gotham is still very corrupt, this can be shown by certain figures letting people out of Arkham.

Yea, it looks like a Green Lantern film is on the way. Even though I'm not a massive fan of GL I would love to see him get the big screen treatment.

Thanks man :D

What do you mean "..."?

I dunno...maybe to show some one pausing for thought...?

:hehe:

They are called something, but I don't know what!

It's not so much a matter of if the Joker returns, but when.

That being said, we should all get to work suggesting indie fave flavors of the month that Nolan will fatefully never cast:

Is Paul Bettany still a working actor? LOL!

Paul Bettany?Bad idea

Ben Foster would make a good Joker in Nolans verse since his Joker is way darker than past incarnatons

How is Paul Bettany a bad idea? He is a better actor than Ben Foster. Every single role Foster has ever played is the creepy bad guy. Bettany has a lot of range, from comedic, cowardly, romantic roles and obviously disturbing villains. If you doubt Bettany's talents check out "Gangster No.1". I bet most of the people doubting him haven't even heard of that film.

Yeah, I'm not really getting the Bettany hate either. It's like after we got a great performance from Ledger, anyone else that could have been cast would have been infinitely inferior.

In terms of physical build and appearance, Bettany still beats out Ledger in looking like the comic book Joker. Not to mention the guy has without of the doubt THE best piercing, crazy eyes in Hollywood right now. His smile is sickly too. Ledger was pretty good at intimidation, but Bettany is such a natural in looking like he could slice you into pieces at any moment.

You know what, just watch Gangster No. 1 like Ace said. It's really all you need to see. :o

Yea, the guy just oozes menace IMO. Even when he is playing lighter characters, that stare and the creepy smile.

Here's a taste for people at what Bettany was capable of:

Shame that his role in Gangster and Da Vinci really ruined his chances of surprising people. Admittedly, doing Joker wouldn't have been too different from those two other roles.

Tim Roth is a bad man, I could see that work, in another franchise. Maybe in an adaptation of TDKR?

Tim Roth plays a great villain. I'm just not sure of him as the Joker. Perhaps If I saw some manips.

And it BEGINS!

Let's get ready to Fanboy RUMBLE!:meanie:

I dont like Paul Bettany very much. I really wouldnt want the Joker returning with him playing him.

Before you can argue with anyone about Bettany you have to see Gangster No.1. Until you have, your opinion is invalid.

Fair enough. Why don't you like him though? I think he is a fantastic actor who shows a lot of range. It's a shame he is most famous for playing a albino killer, that's what I think puts people off of him for the Joker. But to be honest, that wasn't even his best role.

I dont hate him, but I dont really like him neither. He has never really impressed me, and often just seems weird. I havent seen "Gangster No.1", but it doesnt seem like my taste.

Can't really judge him then if you haven't seen his best role.

Yea. Fair enough he hasn't done anything for you before. But what Crook says is true. It's like saying Marlon Brando isn't all that without seeing The Godfather, Apocalypse Now or A street car named desire.
