The Dark Knight Rises Roven: Joker Could Return

If it wasn't for the whole 'Sons of Batman' thing in TDK, I wouldn't mind something similar in B3 where thugs become so inspired by Joker that they start dressing like him.

Also... since Nolan is always striving for "realism"... it would be pretty unrealistic for the Joker to escape jail/prison ... twice.... so I think he'll be tucked in Arkham, "felt" but not heard/seen...

You know what would be cool?

BB ended with a mention of the Joker
TDK had a mention of Catwoman (Bruce's new suit will "do fine against cats")

It would be cool if B3 mentioned "A Dr. Harleen Quinzelle is currently treating the Joker, without much luck.".... just as a little nod to all the fans.

Yeah i think that would be the only way harly could be realistically addressed in the nolanverse.

Iam not 100% sure but iam almost positive that the "Do fine againts cats" line was just a conicdence and hade nothing to do with the character but again thats just what i thought you never know cuse i havent heard Nolan speak about that scene

well Im sure he realised the way fans might take it if it was a coincidence but decided to keep it in anyways... I don't think a little joke Lucious made should be taken in the same aspect as The Joker card.... I would like to see Catwoman though

Im also all for a Joker return, so people want to hang me

I could probably play The Joker. I'll upload it on youtube one time and show you guys.

Everyone would hate me though, and that wouldn't be fun.

Yeah........ anyways

I just read Leonardo Dicaprio has been cast in Inception... this makes me wonder ... (I've mentioned this before around here only to be ignored) But since Nolan seems to take a liking to certain actors, Id love for him to be the top choice if he decides to recast the Joker... I know around something like a super hero hype board I will be bombarded with insults and anger (for suggesting someone who girls seem to adore [also keep in mind Ledger was in this boat to and look at the performance he turned out]) but anyone who has seen 3 great performances from Dicaprio might beg to differ my 3 being (Basketball Diaries, Gilbert Grape, Departed) he's done some other great work too ... Blood Diamond... anyways hearing this raises mt hopes in getting another extremely talented actor to cover the role due to Ledgers passing... him and Depp are the only 2 actors I see as doing the role good justice.....

again my opinion is only there if he truly intended to have The Joker in the 3rd film.... I LOVE what Ledger did! but still to kill his extremely well crafted character off due to a accidental passing I think would make his story much more tragic

I won't insult you, DiCaprio is one of the greatest actors of our generation. Anyone who doubts this doesn't have a clue about acting. Too many people overlook his actual talents just because he is a pretty boy and used to be a teenage girls fantasy. But yea he is a truly great actor and I would love to see his own interpretation on Joker. I've never seen Leo play a proper psychotic villain before, but we never saw Heath play a proper psychotic villain before either. I think Leo definitely has the chops to do it.

Many posters of both sexual persuasions have been willing get behind Leo for a while. People were talking about him for Joker way back. A twisted version of his usual manic self would be great. Even in roles like Howard Hughes or the funny talkin diamond smuggler he can manage to be somehow menacing, while always charming.

I could see Leo as a very interesting Riddler!

Leo as Joker?

GTFO

WTF is wrong with some of you people i feel like if someone said

"Russel Crowe would make a intersting Joker"

Everybody would hop on that bandwagon JUST BECAUSE ITS SO OUT OF LEFT FIELD THAT PEOPLE WOULD BE COMPELED TO GO WITH THE ODD CHOICE

Besides anyone who actually wants or thinks the Joker is coming back is on crack

Right now whether you like it or not to the General Public Heath Ledger is The Joker, just like for a while C Reeves was Superman

You people can sit here and ***** and moan saying the Joker is bigger than Heath Ledger but to the average person and to the 500 million people who saw the movie

Heath Ledger is The Joker so recasting is ****ing stupid

Who the Joker is to those people doesn't matter because they haven't been shown alternatives. You didn't get Heath fans until TDK came out. Before images were even released, many people were already in the mindset of "..but Jack is Joker!".

You don't know what you want until it's delivered to your satisfaction.

^ I think this is well put.. Okay so alot of people especially Heath Ledger fans (no offense he was amazing but if your talking about band wagoners saying the Joker can't be recast is the most band wagon thing i've ever heard) would be upset if he was recast but honestly if Bale died between a 2nd a 3rd Batman film everyone would say don't get "so & so" because whats Bale did can't be topped.... He was wicked but played a character he breathed a great and refreshing life into the role... just like every actor to play James Bond can breath something new again but still very much in the same manner another actor COULD play Joker... I feel like being one of the few people for a Joker recast Im really not on any Band Wagon at all... did you know there are Heath Ledger fans trying to get the role retired??? I dont care if it's only franchise ,,,,,, to retire a character an actor was enthusiastic about about because of an accidental passing still to me is rude, I guess you could say The Jokers role is complete move on.. But I really seen TDK as an introduction to the world Batman created.... Id love to see the villains flushout into the next films rather than have a new villain per film.....

lol no offense but if C Bale died(knock on wood) i wouldnt be saying he couldnt be topped because he could easily no offense i feel like hes been the weakest so far besides rachel dawes

And i dont mind someone else playing the Joker just do it in another series 10 years from now

Why do it 3 years after Heaths great performance? like i said rite now Heath is Joker to most people

well than screw those people cause they are probably old women who went to see the Dark Knight only because of Heath Ledgers oscar buzz... I say recast him and let people take him for what he was........... compared to someone else maybe no one can dop it better but then you can rub it in my face and say I told you so... (not that Im expecting better so much as kindof how Katie Holmes and Maggie were kindof smooth and not like a massive difference I even know it sounds naive to alot of Heath Ledger fans because the Jokers role takes alot of skill but a movie in Nolans hands with a Joker recast compared to Nolan or any other director and some other villain (I still would want at least 1 new villain) wId rather have Nolan recast The joker really does make Batmans stories all the more intresting and he was created awesome in this interpretation Id love to see his character further explored... as long as we get the same great writing and directing and another great talent to act it Id be pleased

I see what your saying man but iam telling you its not wise to have someone else take the role of Joke rite now give it some time

3 years from now people are still going to be talking aboit Heath Ledger as Joker hell 10 years from now people will still be talking about it but it wont as much as it is now.

This is Nolans take on the series and Heath is The Joker just lik Liam Neeson is Ras Al Ghul and Cillian Murphy is Scarecrow iam pretty sure nolan would like to keep it with the villains that we dont have re casts

Uhh, personally i don't think they could re-cast the part for Batman 3 and still have a credible film, unless they shot it very carefully, whereby Joker was not nearly as present as he was in TDK and we see him in darkness or from behind et etc but even then i don't think it can be done. He was just too good. Jack was Jack, Reeve was 20+ yrs ago, Heath was something else. He was too good to have the part re-cast and to still be credible.

Whoever said Leo is clearly on crack. Yeah, nobody really knew Heath would pull this off when he was cast but oh my god Leo would just be ridiculous.

I also think that Joker's arc is really over for the time being, and i'd like to see more Batman since these films are supposed to be about him. In TDK he was completley blown away not only by Joker but by Oldman and dent. Batman was just ahead of Rachel in the least interesting character. I think whoever makes the 3rd really needs to rein it back in and have the film about Batman. I think the problem is that Bale has not been good enough, or else that he has not had enough to work with, for people to truly give a damn. Make Batman 3 about him and it'll keep me watching. Besides there are no other villains to truly care about. And don't say Catwoman. She is irrelevant.

Honestly, it may be an obvious choice. But after watching the trailer for Public Enemies I'm sure that Johnny Depp could bring something new to the table.

Actualy after watching Public Enemies i was thinking more of The Riddler than Joker.

Heath Ledger can't be topped my ass. Thats what they said about Jack and people still said it about Jack up until July 18, 2008. So who cares if people don't think so and so can top Heath? Show them that they are wrong again. I loved Heath's Joker and think it is one of the most iconic performances ever, but if anyone seriously thinks they can keep making Batman movies and never have the Joker return, you are insane. Joker is Batman's greatest enemy and it is already a crime that he has only been in two films already. I don't think he has to come back for the next Batman, but 10 or 20 years? It is not a coincedence that the most famous Batman films to non-fanboys are Batman and TDK. They have the Joker! If you don't want to disrespect him, recast the Joker. He obviously loved the character. He poured his soul into the film. Do you honestly feel he would want this wonderful character to be banned from cinemas? No!

I definitely saw a little Joker while Depp was robbing the bank.

I NEVER liked Jack's protrayal of The Joker. Back when I was a kid and watched B:TAS, Hamill was The Joker for me. When I saw Jack in Batman '89, I thought it was terrible, terrible, terrible casting. 10 or 20 years later when Heath came around, I said to myself: "Now THAT'S the Joker!" Heath is the first guy to give a decent protrayal of the Joker, IMHO.

QFT! That's exactly how I feel. But, truth be told, most people seem to love Nicholson's Joker.

But anyway, Ledger's Joker can and should be topped. But not right now. It should happen in the next incarnation of the franchise.
