The Dark Knight Rises Roven: Joker Could Return

That's part of the reason, but not the big reason. I want to see him because he's a great villain and they were able to create such a great new take on the character, so why just discontinue it? Obviously Nolan had plans for the Joker, hence why he survived. If Ledger were here today, we wouldn't hear a lot of "he shouldn't return" comments.

I want him to return for alot of reasons, He is a great character and finally Nolan made him the way he should be compared to what Burton had, and kept him alive... Joker isnt the type of villain who needs an "arc" in this world Nolan created don't think of the movies as indivduals think of how the blend, Joker is the perfect type of villain to keep coming and popping up he doesnt need reasons or big plots anymore rather then he has pretty much become obsessed with Batman he almost thinks its a game of friendship they have going, he's really insane and is the constant thorn in Batmans side, bring on Riddler aswell the thing about The Joker as a character that many people dont understand is his chemistry with other villains is almost like Batmans , he might seem like one way or the other but theres nothing he won't do, it would be alot more intresting to have him thrown in the mix in the next film with whoever they introduce and have even more chaos going on for Batman to have to deal with...

also I don't know why people keep calling TDK Jokers story arc judging from things Nolan himself has said about TDK's story being more about Harvey Dent its kindof hard not see TDK as just an introduction to a proper Joker that should continue to haunt Batman the way there relationship should be, Sure the sad thing is Heath Ledger the first actor to play Nolans Joker passed away, if he was alive it wouldn't be a question..

many people involved with TDK have hinted and mentioned "sadly Heath was suppose to return" so why say his arc is done? These obviously are not the Burton Shcumacher films, we dont need new villains and love interests each film it cheapens them

The best idea I've ever heard for Joker's return was to change the character with the actor. Joker changes his personality all the time. The man is a pathalogical liar and a sociopath. Make him the more traditional, classy, full painted Joker instead of the Ledger Joker. Let someone new bring something new to the role. With the Joker it could work and actually make sense.

That's another one of my reasons for wanting him to return. I'll admit I got caught up in all the hype and said the Joker shouldn't return because of Ledger's death, but as I sat back and really thought about it, with the Joker being such a crazy guy whom always switches up mannerisms and personality traits, it wouldn't be hard to believe it going on in Nolan's Batman universe.

Again, I'd love to see Crispin Glover tackle the role.

a Joker recast would make me happy but Crispin Glover honestly would make me wish they hadnt

Why is that? It's not as if he's a horrible actor, he's very inventive and I think he would be effective in showing off many new sides of the Joker.

I dont want to see a completely new Joker, Id prefer it be as seamless as possible a behaving a bit different makes sense as now he doesnt want to kill Batman and no mob would trust him, maybe he'd seem a bit more of a celebrity in his eyes... I like Crispin Glover but he seems like the kindof guy who wants to rub his hands all over the role, Id prefer it to go to someone who is similar to Ledger in some ways, maybe im being shallow and seeing Crispins usually kindof creepish and eccentric characters and just not wanting to see him anywhere near Nolans Joker.. But at the same time Im not saying we have to find the biggest left field choice, Id prefer Depp or Dicaprio...

Depp is a good actor and as said before would be the obvious and most accepted replacement, Im sure he is more than capable of pulling it off... though he is much shorter in height

Dicaprio on the other hand has alot of acting chops aswell and is around Heaths height and build. also it would be nice to see him in a role as a lunatic it would be refreshing

I think both of them would look almost seamless in The Nolan Joker style

Id be fine with Billy Crudup aswell

man though would I love to have seen Heath been here still to return, imagine him breaking free and sporting the fedora, you know whatever would be going on in Gotham would just freeze knowing he is loose again..

Depp is only two inches shorter than Ledger....

Depp = 5'11************ Ledger = 6'1

Personally I would hate to see DiCaprio in the role. I hope he's not considered at all. He's cool and all but he's not exactly what I picture for the Joker.

And the pretty boy from A Knight's Tale was? Don't sell DiCaprio short. The man is the finest actor of his generation. He is even leagues above Ledger, I dare say (not an insult on Heath, but more a compliment towards DiCaprio). I can only imagine what he'd do with the role.

Well, that's how you feel, but I personally don't, I just don't want to see him in the role. I'm familiar enough with his work to make that assessment.

Btw, CaptainClown suggested that Shawn Michaels could pull off the Joker, which I agree with. He's got some experience from wrestling, and has the look, so under Nolan's direction I could buy that.

..... Shawn Michaels :(

man I thought that was a bad joke

Don't think of Dicaprio from Titanic dude, thats just a misconception of how to many people imagine him as an actor though he was fine in that, think more of Gangs Of New York with the long hair, and he can get his accents down damn good too

Im sure he could do something with his voice to create that tone

I've see him in other movies besides Titanic, and I just don't see him as the Joker. I wouldn't be mad or pissed if he was cast, he's just not one of my top choices.

So you'd take Glover (which is a serious step down from Ledger) and Shawn Michaels (a wrestler who isn't even acting) over DiCaprio? The same guy that Scorcese has made his next DeNiro? The guy with several Golden Globe and Oscar nominations under his belt? The guy with one of the most diverse and impressive filmographies for a Hollywood actor under 35?

Please tell me the rationale behind that. :funny:

woah woah woah I never said shawn michaels for joker...where did I say this neva

It's called having a different opinion, I don't have to want DiCaprio in the role because you and everyone else does, so please don't be an ass about it.

Oh, I thought you were saying he could be a better Joker. Sorry.

nah you were right, I did say that apparently. I ment to say riddler

No, it's called backing up a statement/opinion. It's what usually gets brought up in times of disagreement. I don't ever recall saying you had to like anyone, so please don't play the victim card.

Shawn Michaels? The wrestler? ...Seriously?

But it's an opinion man! Respect it!
