The Dark Knight Rises Roven: Joker Could Return

I've got no clue his exact height, but he is short, well short/average

I guess in movies though height isn't the biggest deal either though, look at some of the ways they make people appear taller... LOTR

I absolutely think the joker should return.....just the curiosity to see if the new actor would pull it off better than or as good as Ledger would sell tickets. And thats what its all about in the end. Money....Joker brings in the money. Now, as far as who should play him.....Michael Pitt. Check out funny games for the off the rocker personality. And in the movie Delirious he sports the long hair. He is 5'11" but he is tall and thin. what you think?

I know who Michael Pitt it he was in Last Days and Dreamers.... there are people I would much rather have but I definitely don't consider him a bad choice... kindof a indie actor

and half the time he looks as grungy as The Joker haha

Let's be fair. You were being an ass about it, the second you seriously suggested a wrestler with no acting experience, to play an iconic role directed by Nolan. That's just beyond a slap in the face. :o

It was a suggestion, not like it's going to happen, we all know it won't. It was a suggestion, get over yourself.

99.99% of the suggestions posted here will never happen, yet we do it anyway. The only reason it persists, is because there is actual discussion. If you look back, that's exactly what I was trying to do by asking you to explain. I never told you to shut up nor was I dismissive of your opinion. In fact, I invited you to talk more. YOU were the one that ran away and pointed the finger saying, "meanie!". As evidenced, this led absolutely nowhere.

So, excuse ME for trying to extrapolate some sort of meaning from your post and promote on-topic conversations.

Dude, whatever, think what you want, make your suggestions, and I'll make mine and that'll be that.

I saw a few suggestions earlier for James Franco. I'd love to see that happen.

Glad to see some serious discussion on DiCaprio. I thought of him about a month before the Inception casting was announced (and have posts on other forums to prove it), and when I read that Leo was in Nolan's next movie, I immediately called up my friend and said "guess who Nolan just cast as his lead?" He guessed immediately and considers it "pretty obvious" that Leo is being groomed for Joker. We are both baffled that hardly anybody on the interwebs has brought up the possibility. Obviously we exaggerate, but it's not at ALL far-fetched.

meh I'd dug at him too after Heath passed (and didn't think it would be right to "retire" his role for some other director to come and mess up)... Heath was a sprouting actor if he was still alive after TDK & (Broke Back which garnered him quite a bit of extra attention from Nolan) He would be in no doubt on top form.. But To retire his role is silly and Im sure is the last thing any dedicated and focused actor would want within a franchise and story... to say The Jokers story is "done" is purely blind ignorance & falling on deaf ears to what others involved in the film have said..

Dicaprio is a great actor the funny thing about this whole inception casting thing is it has "converted" some Nolan "Fans" into thinking otherwise...

honestly if he was cast in TDK there would have been the same if not less backlash.. and there is a massive chance The Joker may not be used again. BUT to think of Dicaprio helping recreate that magic is much better in my eyes than Johnny Depp nad ****1-ng by far better than Crispin Glover (which is annoying as hell to hear still being debated after TDK) .. Dicaprio is a great actor and I find most people against him have no good reason to be (besides maybe some repressed anger towards Leo from a passed girlfriend who found him more charming then themself) But didn't Heath harness this quality awell and translate it great into The Joker character and somehow make you almost route for him... (but not quite)?

Lenoardo Dicaprio is definetley an interesting choice

The man is a great actor and imo either him or Johnny Depp would have any chance of replacing Ledger's Joker and thats a maybe

Ben Foster would be a good choice to

IF NOLAN DECIDED TO BRING BACK JOKER

The kid who was on 3rd rock from the sun, I think his name is Joseph Gordon Levitt would make a really good Joker. In my opinion.

looks similar to Heath or would be good or somewhat interesting to see portray him?

On a related note: did any of you see Revolutionary Road??? Micheal Shannon's performance just screamed Joker. I also hate to inform you but recasting will happen one day folks even if its not in the next film. I know alot of you are in denial about this. The jokers popularity is on par with Batman himself.

In my opinion, Michael Shannon's face is too fat for the Joker, I think that James Franco looks slightly like Heath Ledger, I'm not sure if he could do the voice though.

No Joker. And no recast.

Firstly, I've explained this. Joker like Nolan descibes him is a force. And entity. He was left hanging at the end of TDK for a reason. IMO, he just dissolved and sent back to wherever. His task is done. All the ties were done on his part. And I don't want to see him in Arkham. Because like I said before, he would be a human being. And he's not. You can't contain him.

Plus, for continuity reasons. Heath made the Joker his own in a way no one can ever or should dare to copy. If another actor came on, he would do something different. Why would the Joker suddenly change lke that? If the guy foolishly did copy, as good as it could be, it would just come off as an imitation and nothing more.

Joker is done in these film. Wait for the next one to appear on film in 10 years.
Well said, I share the same thoughts.

There's absolutely no need for Joker to return. Batman has the best rogues gallery of villains around. Plenty more to choose from. Lets see some new challenges from new villains in the next movie.
True. There are plenty good Batman villains to choose from and alot of other stories to be made.

THIS makes me wonder if Nolan is almost auditioning actors in a sort of way, in this film,,, Considering Joseph-Gordon Levitt is name that has popped up alot in regards to Joker being recast, you know cause he shares alot of the same features Heath had, & James Franco backing out? he was the other big name popping up and again had those same features... this movie sounds really interesting...

would anyone be upset if this was a code for Batman 3? I know it wont be but oh what a cast this film has,

Joseph or especially Dicaprio would be good choices if they were going for a recast

anyways just thought id share this

Just because Nolan casts DiCaprio, Levitt and almost Franco does not mean he is 'grooming' them to be the Joker.

Some of you need to take a step back and grab a hold of reality for a second. There is such a thing as coincidence.

Hey they are just throwing ideas out there. If that didn't happen, then the boards would be a very boring place.

I think JGL and Franco were names that WE were throwing out there. I dont recall hearing anything about these guys from an actual news source, and I dont think Nolan and co. follow these boards.

That being said, I am one of the people who likes JGL as a possible replacement, but in no way do I think that him being cast in INCEPTION has anything to do with Nolan liking him for BB3

Joseph-Gordon Levitt looks a lot like Ledger!

Yea because we all know that the entire of cast of Inception will be returning in different roles for the next Batman movie.

So in which Batman movie is Guy Pearce, Al Pacino, Robin Williams, Hillary Swank, Carrie Ann Moss, Joey Pants, and Hugh Jackman appearing in?

hahah I think thats Batman 10 Or Batman X it takes place in the future i hear :cwink:

Im sorry if that offended some of you round this neck of the woods, I just read that and thought "hey James Franco and Joseph Gordon Levitt are names people on the SHH boards often have suggested should play Joker because of there resemblance to Heath" and some directors do choose to take liking to actors and reuse them in other films... Like Johnny Depp with Tim Burton , and Dicaprio & Deniro with Scorsesse, Nolan has worked with Caine quite a bit so who knows it was just a thought
:boba: Boba Fett would understand He's worked with Jabba the hutt quite a bit

^LOL

Well, if Nolan does decide on bringing anyone back from Inception onto his next Batman movie I would love for it to be Leo. :word: But, I just think people are looking into something that's not really there. Nolan is just trying to assemble the best cast he can for this particular movie, I highly doubt BB3 is much on his mind right now.
