RPG Seasonal Rotation Thoughts

Is a 'seasonal' rotations for RPG's an idea that should be pursued in deep thought?

  • Yes! Let's do it!

  • Gawd no! You think I'd do something different?

  • Hmm...maybe but here are my ideas....

I see no point whatsoever in keeping the big 3 RPGs in this rule. Everyone in this forum has a part to play in at least one of them, and we're all most passionate about one of them.

I'm sorry, but if you tell me I'm just simply not going to be allowed to post as Deadpool and Spider-man for 3 weeks + so that other, less important RPGs can get a shot, I say thee nay.

I'm for the idea, but while I show much interest, I wouldn't be upset if it were to be rejected. I am simply trying to be optimistic; I'm generally all for an idea if it cannot do any harm. This is generally geared to people who cannot remain active cause of juggling too many RPGs, and while it has happened to me, it was not to where it was an issue.

Most of the time I'm fairly active.

*yay* Discussion!

Well, as for the 'Big Three' Hmmm.....I was originally going to do all of them, however the big three would have the shortest distance of time between them. In reality, we have breaks anyway between seasons that range from 2-3 weeks sometimes.

Here are a few thoughts:
The Big three can run all the time while the 'focused interest' ones, while they are active are not nearly as large in their player base, can rotate through. The breaks do need to be more than a few weeks long, but the RPG's themselves will need to be fast paced RPG's *not in terms of arcs, just in terms of postings, which if some other RPG's are alleviated the players would get a chance to do*

Obviously all these things will have to be discussed after the majority are up for even trying something like this.

As for me, there are many RPG's I -want- to take part in, however I have no time, I've also seem people post in application threads that while they are interested they can't 'handle' another RPG. This would make it about to be able to 'taste test' things.

Remember it is just a suggestion, I'm just tired of logging on and flipping through RPG's only to find three people posted over the course of one -two days in three RPG's I *try* to play in.

I think this here is the most important part for reasons to incorporate this idea. It really is a shame also when two or three people are the only ones moving the RPG along.

So.."The Big Three" would be exempt?

It looks like most people want it to be that way :)

The only person who doesn't is Blacklight so...

So........*8checks poll*

It would seem we shall move into the actual 'rotation' schedule next. :/ and work it out from there.

What kind of rotation schedule you thinking of, twy? I already gave an example as far as the groups for the rotations could go.

I like this idea. Only problem is productivity. I mean, some RPGs go through large slows. But, I'm still for it.

I think it's a good idea, gives people more time to think about their plans, and with a bit of a rest with a character for a while, they get their spark back as soon as the RPG returns.

I like the idea. It's good for those who play a lot of characters, because they don't have to focus on getting a post up for them all at the same time. The can manage a couple characters at a time, which may lead to more creative thoughts for arcs and character development. It's also good for people who don't have many characters, but are really busy outside of the forums. They would only have to worry about posting in character for a couple weeks, and then they get a break.

I really like the idea that certain RPGs take breaks during seasons. Like, some RPGs are on for the Fall to Winter line up, and others are on from the Spring to Summer Line up.

So...what the hell are you people waiting for? Figure out a rotation and get this experiment moving. :o

I like trusty's idea of having three groups - though my suggestion is to move OU into the 3rd group. That way, none of the big 3 RPG's are running simultaneously.

However, I'm not sure how that would work out, since - as trusty said - that would involve putting one of them on a long hiatus.

Oh Johnny! >.<;

I've been thinking rotation ideas through but I like getting everyone's input...:/

I is very democratic *that and whenever I *though* I figured a rotation out I forgot something so*....let me get a list together of the RPG's and look them over and we can work it through together ^_^

I have yet to say anything, which is usual for me. Mostly due to the fact that I'm skeptical of it. But I'll wait until I see an actual concrete plan before I ***** about it or say I like it.

The only RPG I'd think this wouldn't apply to would be the RPG League.

Here's my thoughts on a schedule:

Trimester 1:

OU
Ult. Marvel
New Age
Create-A-Hero

Trimester 2:

Marvel
Ult. DC
Get Violent
Multiversers

Trimester 3:

DC
WSS?
Transformers (we need to get that game back in gear! :cmad: )
Heroes

and if G&M and Zombie aren't dead, and TV RPG is re-approved after I redo the idea, we can fit those in there too.

Transformers is dead. Zombies alive. Well...undead. It really is a Zombie RPG.

Transformers isn't dead, and even if it was, we put Zombie in it's place. No biggie.

What's that menna mean? You're going to start a fight with a game? Do you know how thick that makes you sound?

So, at the end of the third trimester, do we get a little bundle of joy? :oldrazz:
