Both created by white men.
T'Challa was "Black Captain America" before Christopher Priest got a hold of him.
Both created by white men.
And that has baring on what exactly? Who directed the two films that saw massive acclaim and were both culture events? Both created by white men.
So Black Panther, as we know him popularly, was crafted by Priest?T'Challa was "Black Captain America" before Christopher Priest got a hold of him.
Wait, he didn't even get that right?
And that has baring on what exactly? Who directed the two films that saw massive acclaim and were both culture events?
There are plenty of rich, affluent women in Hollywood. Nothing is stopping them from venturing into business for themselves, producing their own movies and hiring whoever they please.
You think the success of those films had anything to do with the color or the gender of the people that directed them? Would I be wrong to assume that the overwhelming majority of movie-goers that paid to see Wonder Woman had no idea who Patty Jenkins was prior to seeing it or that the movie even had a female director?
I'm just saying if a white man is good enough to CREATE these characters, then I don't see anything wrong with having a white man behind the camera either and neither should you. Who even cares? Whoever can make the best movie should make the movie. You are the one putting people into boxes and slapping arbitrary labels.
Scarlett Johansson has exited the drama film Rub and Tug a little more than a week after her casting sparked backlash amid trans groups and activists, a source with knowledge of the situation confirms to Variety.
In light of recent ethical questions raised surrounding my casting as Dante Tex Gill, I have decided to respectfully withdraw my participation in the project, Johansson told Out Magazine, which first reported the news, in a statement. Our cultural understanding of transgender people continues to advance, and Ive learned a lot from the community since making my first statement about my casting and realize it was insensitive. I have great admiration and love for the trans community and am grateful that the conversation regarding inclusivity in Hollywood continues. According to GLAAD, LGBTQ+ characters dropped 40% in 2017 from the previous year, with no representation of trans characters in any major studio release.
While I would have loved the opportunity to bring Dantes story and transition to life, I understand why many feel he should be portrayed by a transgender person, and I am thankful that this casting debate, albeit controversial, has sparked a larger conversation about diversity and representation in film, the statement continues. I believe that all artists should be considered equally and fairly. My production company, These Pictures, actively pursues projects that both entertain and push boundaries. We look forward to working with every community to bring these most poignant and important stories to audiences worldwide.
In other words, there was a lot of downside to her staying on and not a lot of upside. Interviews would have been about her casting and not the movie itself.
That didn't take long.
The SJWs win again.
Do the trans actors that had a problem with this count in the SJW group? Because the ones I read seemed pretty thoughtful in the criticism, even while being attacked online. That didn't take long.
The SJWs win again.
Legitimately, I want to know who was the first to tell her how bad the statement her team decided to release was. She could have totally done this project. It would have had backlash that probably stopped it from even being considered for awards, but her biggest issue was the statement. It came off rather selfish and completely insensitive. It was really easy to attack.Scarlett Johansson Exits Trans Film Rub and Tug
