Ryan Reynolds is the Green Lantern

Green Arrow's a great character but I think his political liberal views and snarky attitude was more of an afterthought, when Denny O' Neil gave him a new persona. That's why I think people misunderstand Green Arrow because the way he looks and the way he acts are complete contrasts of each other. He's actually the most grounded member of the DC universe, personality wise, I think.
Agreed.

Well if GA does get off the ground hopefully they wont mess up the character.

My mom says comic fans crack her up. We didn't want Ledger, Norton or Downey, & we were wrong.

99% of the time...we are. :cwink:

Seriously, thank the lord the studios DON'T listen to us.

"Didnt want" seems strong. I think Norton and Downey were cast with little opposition. Plus u cant use it as evidence, the most vocal are always the least intelligent

Yea when I first heard Ledger was cast I was Interested... I was always a fan of ledger's work before TDK and him being cast had me very much interested on what he would bring to the role.

But on GL... just watched Reynolds on Adventureland and I think Reynolds is gonna Hit it out of the park as Hal :gl:

i really just want production to start up so we can start gettin some costume pictures. i hate these periods when you kno the movie is greenlit but theres just nothing going on

Since they won't officially starting filming till Jan/Feb of next year, it'll be while...I would say maybe March we'll get to see an official peak at the costume..

Probably so officially that is, but if their is any outside shooting, or a very good spy catching ryan leaving costume/makeup trailer and going into studio we could possibly end up seeing gloves/boots or something peaking through robes they would probably keep him under.

Damn, no news is depressing. I hope we get something next month. Some casting at least.

i actually dont think that is strong at all. alot of people were almost completely against ledgar as the joker and now they're obsessed with findin a joker that looks exactly like him. me and my father both thought that robert downey jr. was way too old and know we both think he's a really good choice. it was also the same thing when michael keaton was cast as batman, they agrued that he was too short and most of the movies he did before that were comedies people couldnt help but see him as "Mr. Mom". now he is arguably the best batman. but u are right about most of the people speakin on being the least intelligent.

If you want something depressing, look no further than Captain America.

I was the BIGGEST Anti-Downey naysayer.

I was surprised to find so many people were against Robert Downey Jr being cast as Tony Stark. I wasn't interested in an Iron Man movie UNTIL Robert Downey Jr was cast. He single-handedly sold the movie for me.

As was I. I was quite thrilled when he was cast.

Exactly the same for me. I couldn't care less about it until a few weeks before when all the TV spots started showing, and I started thinking "Dude, he seems awesome"

With dead-behind-the-eyes Paltrow, and annoying as hell villain, and a sidekick that didn't do a damn thing, RDJ is the only reason I love the movie.

Anyone else think that it's a good that they cast a known actor for this type of superhero role? I mean who outside of comic geeks knows who Green Lantern is? Fans of Reynolds will surely go see the movie just for him.

Do you think movies like Blade and Iron Man would have been successful as they've been if they had cast an unknown instead of Snipes and RDJ? Nobody knew who they were outside of comic geeks(Well Iron Man was somewhat known but I don't think he was popular as X-men and Spider-man).

Unknowns are great for either iconic superheroes (Supes, Bats, X-men, maybe Spidey) or for extremely difficult ones (Thor), but I think lesser-known heroes require at least recognizable names.
