i think venom will turn out fine, and gg will look better than the first one.
the foruth villian will be revealed soon, so i can wait.
i just wished we could stop all this fuzz of how saimis going to ruin it, sicne im sure he will make a great movie once again-.-

Well as long as Venom has the face we all know, the costume is all black and the WHITE SPIDER MAKES AN APPEARENCE, everything should be fine. After the last to films I have faith he won't disappoint us.

The Goblin was practical. The battle suit and the helmet tied more into real life than what was seen in the comics, plus that character was pulled of FLAWLESSLY by Defoe. It was diffrent, but not in a huge way. I mean he still had the glider, still threw the bombs, still had a kick ass "gobliny" mask and still had one mean ass cackle. I think Raimi will do the same thing with Venom. If he is slightly diff, it will be for the better, but i have no doubt that hell keep the core of that character the same.

I admit the gg suit was pretty bad in SM1.... but the GG suit is pretty bad in the SM comic too

so we had an option between power ranger or elf sprite

granted it could have looked a lot cooler.. but was the goblin's suit really what made the character there?

I always thought that it was the whole Norman knowing who spidey was and being able to manipulate it that made the suit from foolish.. to menacing and taunting.

as for inimidation and fear
that's more Venom's alley... because so far he has had no major impact on Spidey's life (616 universe.. not USM)... well... no more than a clingy ex-gf

Agreed. Sure the goblin suit wasnt cool as hell, but it was practical as you said. The first time I saw the movie, I even liked the suit (well I at least didn't mind it or think it was bad) The character itself is the most important anyway, and Dafoe's GG was perfect

that is pretty cool. but you have to consider this:

that's not as real person in that suit. it's a shot that would be CGI. imagine willem dafoe standing around in that costume for dialogue with spidey. it would look pretty silly, and the costume gives him NO protection.

The one in spiderman 1 was horrid but it fit the plot.
