Saint's Row The Third

I haven't played any of the previous Saints Rows but I am really looking forward to this one. Game looks awesome.

Is the crazy cat car (Along with its other features) only for pre-ordered buyers?

Game looks like a lot of fun...but with so many great games coming out...I probably won't get it. :/

Can't wait for this one. Played SR 2 last summer, didnt expect much from it but I thought it was great. This one looks even better!

Pierce was one of your lieutenants in SR2. Him, Shaundi, and Carlos.

I don't know if I'm going to get this at launch. On one hand, I love the SR games, but I've never actually finished SR2, so I dunno. I love them, but I get bored with open world games.

Tomonobu Itagaki, game developer responsible for such hits as Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive and the upcoming Devil's Third, who once had this to say about Saint's Row: The Third:
This isn’t lip service, OK? But I really liked Saints Row by THQ. It really looks cool. The silliness of it all looks crazy, and I love it. I loved the trailer, too. There’s a guy in the elevator who’s smoking a cigarette. He’s walking with two girls, and he hands off his cigarette and kills the guy. Then he gets his cigarette back. I love that guy. I love the way he is. I think I’m gonna try to be like him someday.

...is now going to be a playable character in said game.
Those lucky enough to be present during THQ's Tokyo Game Show showcase today were given quite the treat when the publisher announced celebrated Japanese game designer Tomonobu Itagaki (Dear or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Devil's Third) would be making an appearance in the upcoming Saints Row: The Third. Not just any old appearance, mind you: Itagaki will feature as a playable character, giving gamers the chance to don the signature leather jacket and sunglasses and run amok on the streets of Steelport when the game ships later this year.

In the latest trailer you can watch Mr. Itagaki (with a cockney accent) fly around on a hover bike and take out some pedestrians with a UAV.

haven't been following this game......

so........you can create your own character ( including gender and race )??

Yes. Saint's Row has a really great character creator.

cool! thanks!

should I play Saint's Row 2 before playing SR3??

also, can you equip melee weapons like Katana swords ( in SR2 and SR3 )?

I don't think you would need to play the previous games.

Yes, there are melee weapons. There was even a katana in SR2, I don't know if it will be in The Third though.

cool!! thanks again.

I hope katanas show up in SR3.

it's a known fact that katanas make any gangster 101% more bad ass.......:word:

This game weaseled a pre-order out of me with the Decker trailer.

"I don't have arms!" :awesome:

When I saw the freefalling trailer. I knew I had to get this game day one. One of the best action sequences ever.

My god.

This game looks like video games on crack, meth, black tar heroin and peyote all rolled into one.

It truly looks like it's everything to everyone...as wide open as wide open gets.

This doesn't look like "free roam GTA"....this looks like Free Realms.

....and I....must.....HAVE IT. NAOOOOOWWWWWWW

Seriously: is this *really* as wide open, cross-genre, do-whatcha-wanna-do as it looks and the previews advertise? Because I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before. And I always dodged SR and SR2 because I assumed they were just GTA knockoffs....but *this*....this??? This. (!!!)

It's began as a GTA knock off and has since become a GTA killer for me. It's done everything right with each ne installment and the third just looks better and better.

I admit......it does look kind of cool!!

not sure if it's enough to warrant a purchase right away.

but, maybe after a price drop down the line, I might check it out.

Short new trailer.

It may or may not involve a dude juggling an energy drink mascot in the air with a shotgun.

[BLACKOUT]That's exactly what's in it.[/BLACKOUT]

I had zero interest in Saints Row 1 and 2, but after watching these last few trailers....I think I may have been missing out.

I think part of the problem was with GTA IV the game kinda took itself a little more seriously than the previous versions of the game.

Don't get me wrong, GTA IV was the best game of the entier series on any console.. but it had taken a step away from really, really crazy missions/elements & tried to tell a proper story with a little more realism.

Saints Row serious has always been daft.. it has taken itself even less seriously than GTA ever did I feel. I mean that shogun mascot juggling should tell you everything you need to know on how the developers approach the game/series.

I'd like the GTA series to maintain it's little more realistic approach to things for some epic missions like that bank job one & I want Saints Row to maintain it's more crazy approach to things. Win/Win.
