Samuel L. Jackson Says We’ll See A SHIELD Film After The Avengers

I think it is a good move, theGA will feel like they have seen everything Marvel has to offer in The Avengers, and then a flick like this could surprise them.

I see what you're getting at....but they will not be showing us everything SHIELD has to offer in the superhero movies.
What the *new* pull could be...ok, we have seen superheroes vs supervillans, but what do normal government agents do up against super-villans?

Agents flying about the city on sky-sleds fighting super-villan/s, stuff like that. Agents using tech against powers, sometimes it's more interesting to see how non-powered folk go up against superpowers. and by the Avengers we will have seen the most powerful in action, so let's see some inventive ideas showing agents vs suppowers.
Because they should have superpowered villans in there, to distinguish it from other secret agent movies like Bond/MI/GI Joe.

Okay Dave look at this way.If it's before it can be James Bond meets Radiers of the Lost Ark or National Treasure Meets Tomb Raider.Two opposing sides hunting for the Hammer of Thor,Or Spies fighting over the Super Serum.It can go to so levels.But really Dave who is going to care after the fact?

The main reason why I dont care is simple...if I wanted to see Samuel Jackson talking like a tough guy and carrying a gun I'd watch...um...every Samuel Jackson movie. His Nick Fury is close enough to every other character I've seen him play that I just don't care to see him carry a movie.

The public seems to agree with me, as his box office clout has shrunk considerably since Pulp Fiction. Samuel Jackson as the star can NOT open a movie.

And yes...after Avengers, almost anything will be a bit of a letdown. I think it will be difficult to get people to really care about Iron Man 3 after seeing Avengers. Maybe it's actually for the best to throw out a dud like SHIELD first just to kind of reset the public.

Sometimes it's the best move to give change after the biggest flash bang movie of them all. Not to try and outdo that. SHIELD's involvement with superheroes is just one arm of their organisation.
We will get all the other stuff in their own movie, there will be a fresh approach that has nothing to do with the Avengers.
Folk could come out of the Avengers wanting to know more about SHIELD, we've only seen Nick and the Black Widow dealing with the Avengers, but what else is going on in that big heli-carrier? What are those sky-sleds over there for? When are we going to see a bunch of those chasing down an escaped super-villan?
They are the closest we have to a superhero police force. It will be a good change and a great movie, hopefully.

edit: it all depends on the approach. We can't just be automatically thinking everything will pale after the Avengers. Hopefully it will be that good that we may worry about that, but a different type of Marvel movie is a good idea for afterwards, some people's tastes could prefer a secret agent Marvel movie to a super-team.

ok, i concede on that one...but someone might! One lone freak somewhere might want to know about the heli-carrier's other rooms.

It could be interesting. We'll see how it develops. There is a lot they can do with it, so I don't want to count it out just yet. This movie could give the chance to see some other superheroes that may not get a solo film.

Maybe Marvel should just make comedies and spoofs after Avengers. I mean what do you guys expect? Not every Avenger is going to have his own IM type franchise. It's going to get formulaic and cliched at some point if it already isn't, but they pretty much have to work with what they have. They have no choice but to scale it down after Avengers, and they need to be economical. Movies like this are the logical next step.

I thought it sounded pointless at first but it could be real cool if they focus on Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye trying to stop an international threat on the DL.

They ultimately triumph only to reveal that the threat was just a smokescreen for a larger danger that could then lead into Avengers 2.

I honestly think their best hope for a full on SHIELD movie is to do a Captain America 2 that mirrors the early Brubaker issues where Fury was a constant presence.

This is why I'm not opposed to a SHIELD film. It could clear up a ton of stuff in between movies, and it could showcase a few Avengers characters that won't get a chance to shine when compared to Thor, Cap, and Iron Man.

And it shaves 80 million off your budget... at least. Not too keen on having Cap in if they do an actual SHIELD movie. Either do a Cap sequel or a SHIELD movie, but don't feature BW/Hawkeye prominently in Cap movies and visa versa.

I'd really like to see this actually. Especially since word is that that War Machine is gonna be in it! This has potential as of right now since I don't know the story.

But i really want S.H.I.E.L.D go head to head with Hydra. That's just my preference though.

I knew they would have a Shield film at some point. What I'm hoping for eventually is a Ms. Marvel film.
