San Francisco to ban e-cigs

Can you explain exactly how vaping is worse than smoking regular cigarettes? Especially when, as has been said already in this thread, the long term effects of vaping are not yet known.

You mentioned previously it was linked with a rise in strokes, and heart attacks. Both of those are associated with cigarette smoking as well. I'd be curious to see the stats when compared to each other, and would bet cigarette smokers have a higher risk.

And granted, the jury is still out in regards to long term effects, but the main issue with cigarettes is not the nicotine itself, which when you ignore the obvious addictive properties of it, is actually about as dangerous as caffeine by itself. Research indicates that vaping does not directly cause lung cancer, which is obviously the largest risk of smoking cigarettes.

Also, as previously mentioned, vaping harms no one except the smoker.

There are obviously a lot of unknowns, but to try and make this kind of claim seems a little irresponsible.

I averaged almost pack a day for 5 years. I've vaped a tank a day for 7 years. The latter doesn't bother my asthma or cause URI or sinus infections. Vaping is acutely better for me. Idk what the longterm effects will be, but my lifestyle, genetics, and the work I do all but guarantees some sort of cancer or disease will kill me. And there is covid. And the immediate dangers I face at work.

Long story short, vaping is just one more thing in a list of things.

Something from nearly 2 years ago? Google is your friend. Vaping is maybe less harmful but that is like saying being stabbed is less harmful than being shot. Vaping still involves irritating the lung tissue, just in a different way.

Vaping is not safe and is only safer in that it will harm you more slowly in some other way.
