Saw 4 anticipation and plot ideas thread

I've heard some talk of IV actually being something of a prequel rather than a straight up sequel, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

I think that's just fanboy talk at this point, we don't really have any idea yet.

The prequel idea for SAW IV is a bit more credible than just fanboy speculation.....

Where do you want to see the next film go?

Leigh Whannell:
I don't know; the good thing about the Saw films is they have such fractured narratives, I'd almost like to see it go back in time and tell the story of Jigsaw, and how he became Jigsaw - I'd like to see that. It's almost like the Batman Begins story of going back to the beginning; there are so many things, but I'd like to keep up the quality. I'd like to see it take a different turn; I almost feel like these three movies should exist as one story, and then Saw IV should be a completely different story and go back in time, so that they can exist separately - I'd like that.

He couldn't be, SAW V isn't an official project yet. He signed sequel clauses that obligated him to be involved if they chose to include him in the potential sequels that he signed on for.

Yes, it's my favorite of the three.

Why is 3 your favorite? I heard it was utter filth and crap, compared to the others.

I don't remember the blonde.
But some have been saying that the doctor from the first one will be a possbile accomplice.
Was the hair long or I guess what I should ask did they appear to be female?

Really?! You see some of his memories of walking in the park with a blond woman and she tells him that she loves him. Then he says I love you back and, and his accompliss thought he was talking to the doctor? Were you watching the movie?
Now, we don't know anything about that...so you tell me, why would they show that and not explain it unless they were planting the seeds for the next film?

Judging from how Saw III ended along with the fact that we saw flashbacks of the killers memories of being with some blonde that we have yet to have any clue about what-so-ever...I would say that Saw IV will be a pre-quel.
Just watch..
Hannibal gets an origin movie, so will Jigsaw

That's the only way I can see Saw IV happening: A Pre-Quel. I think III was written to wrap a trilogy.

How do you think the prequel should end? You think it should end with him creating the traps for Adam/Dr. Gordon or perhaps with the guy trapped in the barbed wire cage?

They need to do it in a way that immediately connects to the events of Saw 1.

I'll see Saw 4 no question. But I got to say number 3 was lacking a bit. I loved the twist endings in the first 2...but number 3 there was nothing I didn't see coming. So i'm worried number 4 will have the same problem. I do love the franchise but I also hope number 4 is the last. Just so it isn't ruined.

Oh yeah I remember now,it was so odd.
I would like to know what was up with that?
But I can't see her being an accomplice, seems that was a happier, simpler time in his life. Maybe she left him when he was diagnosed.

Ok, in the first one, do they ever Recall his FIRST actual trap?

i mean for all WE know it could be his 35! that leaves plenty of room for some good prequels (star wars style ;))

I say we get a GOOD prequel then a saw 5 being a Copy-cat of jigsaw, more like a "student", but the cops dont know that... IMO that'd be pretty cool,
Have it start out, with the cops at a crime scene, then we get kind of a COP POV of the movie, then we get the "big movie trap" (by big movie trap i mean like in the first two we had the Bathroom, then the house etc...)
then we get a Jigsaw Copy cat POV and he ends up escaping in a twist ending or sum'n...

thoughts?

If they were smart they'd just stop.

It wont happen though.

The writers of FEAST are writing SAW IV, as of now Whannell and Wan have no official involvment in the film.

Tobin and Shawnee are the heart of the series, they're barely in SAW, they're in SAW II throughout but barely together, and in SAW III their relationship is front and center; not to mention that it's the best combination of a morality tale and exploitation of the three. The first film is the most concerned with trying to throw you off track and the least concerned with getting the message across, it ends with a twist for the sake of a twist. The twist in SAW III is emotional and meaningful.

The twist in SAW III was apparent about 35-40 minutes into the movie. I didnt like that.

which twist?

PLEASE PUT IN SPOILER QUOTES! SO NOT TO RUIN THE MOVIE!!:yay:
(for people who havent seen it ;))

What I'd love to see?

Someone miraculously curing that tumor. And then shooting Jigsaw in the head.

This probably should have been done in the first movie. It would've saved us money.

Like I said, it was more about emotion and meaning than it was about throwing you off track, the twist in SAW was vice-versa.

SAW is my least favorite of the trilogy, though I still love it.

Oh please, I doubt anyone knew that
Jigsaw was the one testing Amanda the entire time due to her murdering ways.

The first twist may've been some what predictable, but the last two? No way. I don't care what anyone says no one saw that one or the last one coming at all.

Jeff's daughter being locked in a room and Jigsaw himself being the final test? I doubt anyone actually figured that out.

Honestly, the second one gave me a headache it was so bad and I thought Saw III was only slightly better (better acting and better story)..
I really liked the original because the speculation on who the killer is really drove the story forward. By the end, you have speculated on everyone in the film, but it was right in front of your face the whole time. The sequels are devoid of that and just feel kinda "been there, done that" like more killing for the sake of killing. His traps are becomeing a little too grand and elaborate to feel credible. It really shouldn't have gone beyond the first one.

It's not killing for the sake of killing, there's an underlying theme to the types of people that are chosen, and it's hardly been there/done that since the premises are vastly different each time.
The first was a great opener that paved the way for bigger and better things to come. The speculation regarding who the killer was is pretty much what I've already said, building a twist for the sake of a twist(which really has no more depth to it than violence for the sake of violence), and there weren't that many people in the film to speculate on in the first place; the sequels let you get to know the man and the meaning behind what he's trying to do, as well as the person closest to him(the first film did nothing of the kind). The first film was the worst at delivering that message because the two best things about the movie, two terrific actors, have about 5 combined minutes of acting.
The traps being more elaborate didn't take away any credibility, it was well established how innovatively gruesome Jigsaw's imagination was, naturally he's going to keep devising more and more elaborate schemes for his victims. Jigsaw is a horror icon now, I'd take that over the guy on the floor any day of the week.
SAW II stomped all over SAW, and SAW III did the same to SAW II.
