Scooby Doo Prequel In 2009{Direct To DVD}

I was going to give this a chance but if they arent even smart enough to make Fred blonde...then I dont know so much.

I caught the first film today and damn, it could of been sooo much better.

How can you make a great Scooby Doo movie without easily falling into a trap that these films did?

Ideas are stirring and I'm thinking of doing an outline that may lead into a script. I'm thinking of going with the Tim Burton angle with the same tone as Ghostbusters with Barry Sonenfeld.

Suggestions?

Well, I think where the films{and the orther recent Scooby stuff} went wrong is that it didn't capture that spookiness of the original 25 episodes.

A Pup Named Scooby Doo was the best thing to come out of the whole series IMO.

I liked that. But then it just got kinda stupid to me.

It came on after the original show. The original is still the best. I don't know what the hell people are talking about. Yeah, the laughtrack is dumb but for a kids show it spooked me. And its a hell of alot better than the **** Scooby Doo show they show these days. It doesn't even feel atmospheric anymore.

Wow there were only 25 original episodes?

The best part of the first film is the beginning. I felt that really captured the essence of the series. Then when the blonde chick popped out of the car it went downhill from there. And I did like that they acnowledged about Daphne as the damsel, Velma always being split up with Shaggy and not Fred, etc.

Anyone else think Zombie Island (which is the best of the animated movies) would of made a great live action film?

Exactly. The only one to do that was Zomibe Island. Yeah, they should have adapted that instead.

I enjoyed Scooby Doo alot as a kid. When Zombie Island came out, dang that scared the crap out of me. After that movie it went all down hill. Parent groups ruin everything.

Zombie island was the perfect Scooby Doo movie. Everything else is just parody.

Yeah, Zombie Island scared the **** out of me too as a kid. Having been used to it, I scared my friend's sister by talking about it. It was awesome, and actually turned spookiness from the original series into actual scariness. That's what the live action films should of done, balanced scariness with laughs. Like Raimi or something.

The only real talent here is Frank Welker of course.

Also checked IMDB seems that Gary Chalk of TF: Beast Wars is here too.

never cared for scooby doo, too repetative. After you've seen 1 episode you've seen them all type of deal.

you can literally sum up every episode: Ghosts/Monsters run rampant terrorizing some type of building or grounds, mystery inc. jumps in to solve the mystery, Ghosts/Monsters end up being some old dude in a costume

LAME

I'll pass on this just like I've done with everything else Scooby Doo related

dude!, it was a cartoon show for kids and still is. YES they butchered scoobs and the gang at times but you make it sound like its supposed to be a hard core detective show that leaves you speechless at the end, and for kids thats what it is to them.

not true, when I was a kid I found it just as repetative as I do now

hence why I never enjoyed it

so no, not every kid feels/felt that way, sorry

wow i has no idea people think so little of the original show :(

I sooooooo 100% agree with you. While I watched it all the time, it didnt mean I enjoyed it. I was young, and that was all that was on. Bah.

I did enjoy A Pup Named SD though. I'd last through a couple boring ass SD eppies to watch that one.

Didnt care much for The Flinstones...unless Gazoo was on. But I still kinda enjoyed it.

Loved The Jetsons.
