, you can't imagine like how horrible it is to just kinda know that that is like the least geektastic homage to the OT that is probably gonna happen in that movie, I can't wait to see it.I've been avoiding spoilers like crazy, to the point that I'm not even reading the track list, I have however heard the first track "The Future - Main Titles" and the slow build to the return of the main theme from X2 is amazing, at first I thought it was gonna be a really small quotation of it, but then it just explodes, I thank God that I heard it home cause had I heard it on screen for the first time I would have screamed like a crazy person.

For those who haven't seen the new John Ottman interview, at around 37:00 he begins discussing the inclusion of the X2 theme in Days of Future Past, how Powell and Jackman were asked to include it in their respective films (and didn't) and what other themes from the other movies are going to be included.

ITS LIKE MY CHILDHOOD COMING BACK! THIS MOVIE HAS TO BE AWESOME IF IT HAS MUSIC LIKE THAT! PERFECT THIS IS WHAT THE XMEN SHOULD SOUND LIKE. X2 is my current Favourite X-men film perhaps tying with first class but this looks like it could supplant both from the top spot!
The nerve!![]()
I know! It's little things like that that would change my opinions on things.![]()

That was a really interesting interview 37:00 onwards, about how he likes consistency and there is absolutely no consistency with music in the X-Men films and he already wrote a score for X3, but he left for Superman Returns and the new composer didn't use his theme etc.
What was that about Magneto's theme in First Class originally Wolverine's in X2 or something? Can somebody explain what he meant?
I know, as much as I enjoy the themes from Last Stand and First Class, to know that we could have had the X2 theme before, it just kinda angers me a bit, I mean if Alexandre Desplat was OK with including compositions by both John Williams and Nicholas Hooper, I can't see why John Powell and Henry Jackman couldn't at least quote the X2 theme for 5 seconds, it would have meant a lot.
I've kinda been watching the first minute of this video (muted) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgayI3mTfTE while starting the first track of the Score at 1:47 and wondering what might have been.
Well First Class used some cues from X2 as temp score before Henry Jackman really started composing, Ottman is suggesting that the music he used for Wolverine in the Weapon X flashback sequence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwiRFKjf_vY&index=25&list=PLKjwRpQidz5sNPWjfrodxd6yS0fNdRZW5 starts at 1:40) was turned into the Magneto theme, which in part is true cause Henry Jackman was gonna use that just as the backbone of his Magneto theme in First Class, but Matthew Vaughn insisted that that was enough of a theme and that it didn't need anything else.
Thanks for that link. I hadn't realized X2's score was available in its entirety. Wow.![]()
Yeah. Wish that was kept in the film. I think I remember it in DoFP though.
Yes, so according to him it is in the film and I'm not going crazy! LOL.Is that the theme that in the interview Williams mentions the studiohead "Emma" championed?
Yes, so according to him it is in the film and I'm not going crazy! LOL.
It's a neat touch, especially with the fading X.
The fading X is back? JP you're gonna kill me.
