Oh, I know man. I'm just saying that I think it will have legs. It's a great movie and Scream does have a cult following.

I think WOM will help this film out a lot. Unlike a lot of movies that came out recently, this actually seems to be getting a positive reception. That will help it a lot.

I'm hoping this succeeds, myself. For something I am about 95% done writing, the first Scream film was a huge inspiration for my work on it.

Yeah. My horror obsession is inspired by Scream and Halloween. They also helped me develop my original horror series idea into something more special. I owe a lot to them.

Same here. Halloween's another of my personal favorite horror films as well.

Kevin Williamson would probably be giggling like a little **** if he heard two young aspiring writers saying his script for Scream or Scream itself, alongside Halloween inspired us to be better writers and make something more special.

LOL! Would probably make him feel better about the opening weekend though ;)

Exactly. I have a feeling this film is going to pop back like the first film did at the box office.

-Anthony Anderson being stabbed in the forehead and then getting out of his car walking and talking sucked,it brung the movie down.He should of died right when the knife went in his head.

-Dewey,Gail,or Sydney should of died in this movie, having all of them live again after four times is getting old.

-They should of casted someone else for Charlie because he is shorter than Sydney.

-They should of casted someone else for Trevor because is was a crappy actor.

Saw the film last night and loved it. I just really hate, hate, HATE it when a horror film goes against a family film.

I did not enjoy the the first Scream than most people. I loved the idea of it and the opening scene is one of the best ever but I didn't think it was this amazing masterpiece that a lot do. I never saw 2 or 3 because I figured it'd be more of the same. I went to this one because I really liked how awesome the trailers were and wow I loved the hell out of this movie. The acting is great, story is pretty damn good for a horror movie, the old cast is still great and the younger kids were surprisingly great as well. What I loved most is how bad ass Ghostface was in it, how Ghostface loves the kill, it just stays there while the people die and stare at them. Even one victim Ghostface was rubbing its mask with them almost like it wanted to kiss the victim while they were dying. I'm sick and tired of the elaborate gruesome Saw way of killing people. It was nice just to get back to the good ole fashioned stabbing. As for the ending
I really loved the reveal of the two killers. What is most sad about it is how real it really is. So many teenagers now a days will do anything to reach stardom and fame without having to do anything at all and something about Jill's sadisticness to get to that fame was really creepy and that it almost worked is even more creepy. The ending also had the best message a movie could has ever given , Don't **** with the original.
I'd say this movie is definitely a solid 8 out of 10 and if you're a fan of the original or horror movies in general, I don't see how you couldn't like this movie.

Kinda of unlikely with the fourth installment of a series though.

This isn't the same as the original film. Back then the fan base was building as it went along, now there's already an established fan base. It's not going to enjoy the same kind of slow build. They also have Fast Five and Thor and whatever else to deal with in upcoming weeks.

They'll be lucky to top out at $50 mill now, which is pretty surprising for a genre juggernaut like this.

I think S5 will still end up happening sooner or later, I just hope this encourages them to cut way back on the slapstick comedy. I think this film overdid the humor to the point where I felt as though I were watching an SNL skit about Scream for 100 minutes.

I think overseas could help as well. It's just odd that a film that's apparently underperforming is still trending on social media sites. Next week has a Tyler Perry movie coming out and that scares me a bit. Fast and the Furious 5 is the week after that. It'll have tough competition after that.

Yea this movie needs to do well this weekend. Otherwise this movie is going to go down the list at the box office. Next weekend is Easter and a Tyler Perry flick coming out with it. So you know that this movie is not going to be at the top of the box office. Then Fast five is going to keep it from being number 1 the week after that. And then the week after that Thor comes out. So this is basically the only real weekend for this movie to rack in the cash. If not then it will have to make some cash overseas.

Scream made their name on mockery of other horror movies. S4 was a lot more like the original.

I didn't think this one was too slapstick at all. The only kind of slapstick I can think of is Ghostface getting knocked down but that happened all the time in the first one and its hilarious everytime.

Scream 3 was slapstick. This one was a lot like the original.

I disagree. Scream, the first one at least, was just a brilliant slasher movie in it's own right. The comedy was a bonus.

Scream 3 went over the top with it, and that's why it's crap.

I still haven't seen this one yet though.

What trailers did you guys get?

...the only one I remember was Pirates 4. The rest weren't that appealing.

Launter's new film

Hangover II

And Apollo 18.

Also did any one else notice the
statue of Himbry
?

Oh yeah...I do remember Apollo 18.

I didn't notice the Himbry statue. :csad:

Our Idiot Brother/Hangover II/Rise of the Apes/Apollo 18&Super 8!

I had Our Idiot Brother, Bridesmaids, Pirates 4, Rise of the Planet of the Apes(looks amazing even if Franco looks out of place), Apollo 18 and one more I can't remember.

People forget the first scream had plenty of goofy moments including the Billy/Stu stuff . Scream 4 was the closest to tone with the original imo

So, I saw this last night and absolutely loved it. Actually want to see it again soon.
