I like to do marathons in one sitting if I can manage it, just have to plan the day out carefully to be able to squeeze it in. Three movies in a row is usually pretty manageable for me.

^^ Interesting review. I've heard similar thoguhts on the killer reveal from multiple websites. I wonder who it is?

I've been picking over my brain to think of subjects relevant to today's society that could be used as a motive for a horror slasher and I'm just antsy.

^^ Agreed.

This is one of the reasons I got so dam nexcited when I heard Scream 4 was hpapening. So many possibilities because of a new decade. I mean, it isn't the 90's anymore, and horror films have changed, so it's cool that the killer mgiht be using modern day tactics and such.

That and the fact that it's about the remakes, when Scream 4 was announced I was hoping they would be going the route of picking apart the tired remakes.

4 out of 5 at IGN http://movies.ign.com/articles/116/1161389p1.html

Overall though, Scream 4 is very effective. It's Craven's best film since Scream 2, back in 1997, as the veteran horror director seems to flourish (Scream 3 aside) when telling a story of this sort and balancing the comedy and horror elements. For horror fans, there are several good jumps and a decent amount of gore, though I wouldn't qualify this film as particularly scary. However, it definitely works as a thrill ride and if you're a fan of this franchise, it provides exactly the kind of horror meets comedy tone you want from a Scream film.

HOORAYS! IT'S NOT BAD!
I tend to agree with the general reaction that IGN has watching films, so this is good news for me.

have seen the movie yesterday. And yes, the killer(s) motives are really hyper-relevant to today’s society, and cleverly derived. can't say much because any detail would give to much, but it's all about how our actual society may turn, by its code, young people into murderers.

I liked the movie. The opening scene with Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell is original, even if it's the only real originality of the movie.

My only complaint would be the too long and sometimes far streched climax (but it's an autoparody, I agree, there is a lot of self derision in the movie). The killer(s) is/are unmasked for more than 15 / 20 minutes before being taken down.

But it wasn't a bad movie, and the killer(s) was/were more interesting that Mrs Loomis or the murderous half brother (but billy and stu were better, i must admit).

Hell yeah! Love IGN. Good news.

Love the IGN review. Very promising. Craven's best movie since Scream 2....best part of that review.

Yeah...I think I'm leaving here until Friday lol.

PEESH!

Overall, I usally really do like IGN's reviews (Ilike this Scream 4 review", so I'm confident. Though, IGN has made some very bad reviews (IMO) in the past. less than 42 hours!

I'm still trying to remain as spoiler free as possible. I knew next to nothing going into all three of the original trilogy in the 90's and I intend to stay that way for this one as well. It's great to see that it's getting such positive reviews!

I saw the movie a week and a half ago in Toronto. I also loved it. Agree with your opinion on the motive. But I would also have to say the finale didn' drag for me at all. I didn't want it to end. And I think it's my favorite finale of all the Scream films.

I gave this a 4/5
IGN 4/5
BD 4/5
DeadCentral 3/5

Dead Central should really have given it a 4.

That Joblo rating is way too low for this film. They have really disappointed me the past year and a half.

One of my guys that works at a theatre saw an early cut and spilled a little about it, but not too much.
They basically are somewhat taking a jab at franchises getting "rebooted" as well as pointless sequel after sequel.
It's pretty self aware the way he ran it down, so I gots to hook it up this weekend.

Awesome to know there's mostly positive reviews so far!

Early days, but it's got a "rotten" rating on RT so far: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/scream-4/

But that can easily change. It's in the 50 percentage range and can shoot up if it gets more positive reviews. I'd be very pleased if it's final rating was in the 80's like with Scream 1 and 2.
