Scream 5 in Development

Great interview. I'm really excited for this and continue to be convinced this is being approached with the right amount of reverence and willingness to try something new. Should put some concerns to rest that some of you had about this film not being meta too.

I hope The Stab franchise has been retired in Scream 5. As fun as that concept was (a franchise in universe that was born out of the events of the first movie), it got a bit ridiculous by the time we got to Scream 4 (and Scream 3 was pushing it). That is what I hoped Kevin Williamson was talking about when he was telling the directors to tone down the references, not removing the meta commentary on horror films altogether but rather taking it back to the first one, where it referenced OTHER franchises (and horror movie tropes in general) instead of going too far with the whole "movie within the movie" thing that feels a little too much up its own ass.

I think this could be accurate.

Mind you, I think the Stab films absolutely can and should be acknowledged, without making it as much the focus. From that interview it sounds like the movie will have tons of Easter eggs and lore for the fans, but they also want to make a movie that can work for a newcomer to the franchise.

This sounds good to me.

Well all right that interview put me at ease. The meta is in. It's a Scream movie.

I'm okay with them easing up on Stab if that's the case. You don't need that and the film within a film idea would get stale by now. I just want something clever and lives up to Williamson and Craven in it's own right.

Radio Silence have been saying all the right things.

Sounds like the trailer is still a ways off. They will probably wait for Halloween Kills. This wait is killing me.

That interview was very reassuring! The last comments regarding the trailer make me want to avoid it all together. I don’t need some bone head potentially implying all or some of the legacy characters die.

25th anniversary 4K standard and steelbook are available for pre order on Amazon. Well the standard is up for pre order. Steelbook not just yet.

Not bad but I'd love to see something more artistic. I love this poster though and would like to see something more like this.

Don't Cox and Arquette still have a production company together despite being no longer married?

A thing I would love to experience if a certain group of ****nuggets weren’t intent on dragging this pandemic out as long as possible.

And Scream 4.

As a completionist, of course. I'm just much more interested to how Scream 2 and Scream 3 will look remastered and in 4K. As I've said before, Scream 4 is kind of an ugly looking film.

I would guess that this movie is most likely the swan song for the original trilogy, regardless of whether some live or die.

Also, both Sidney and Gale were at their hottest in Scream 2. :hrt:

Scream 2 Gale was the best. Both in looks and character wise. I also enjoyed her cameraman Joel. He was pretty funny. It was nice to see Gale have someone else to banter with besides Dewey.

Sounds good to me. Really liked when Roman was talking with the voice changer inside his mask at the end of Scream 3, as opposed to holding it up in front of his face. Mrs. Loomis ("My pleasure!") and Mickey also did this in Scream 2 a little bit. This is obviously a new variation on that concept.

Also, really hope this ViewerAnon dude doesn't spoil every little cool detail about the film by the time it comes out.
