The Dark Knight Script Treatment Summary?

Miranda, at this point, I think you may know more about the TDK production than Jett does! Anyway, really cool thread.

Thanks. :)

TBH, it *does* bother me that none of this info matches what has come from his sources - 'Treatment Insider' definitely sounded legit.

Plus - Nolan kept talking about a public backlash against Batman and it's not mentioned at all. But...I suppose this has been something to talk about.

Regardless of whether this story is true or not, I would VERY much like to see Cillian Murphy back as the Scarecrow, even if it's just a cameo in the film. (And I think the idea of Dr. Crane being asked to analyze who this new "Joker" is would be cool, if a bit too much like "Silence of the Lambs.")

Or, having the Joker either a.) bust the Scarecrow out of Arkham (if he's already been captured), then kill or betray him, or b.) use a still-free Scarecrow to achieve some nefarious plans... THEN kill or betray him so that he gets captured, would be way-cool, to me.

hey admiral- i TOTALLY agree with you. interviewing scarecrow is a little too 'silence' and takes the edge off scarecrow. i'd rather see him freed and involved in a creepy scene- like with joker. then to have joker turn and kill him, would be a great moment, and would up the f*&(ed up nature of joker even more.

again miranda- great work. this has been the best thread in awhile (and the fabricky costume of batman thread is wearing thin). but didn't ledger say he had to, along with WB execs, go to nolan's house to read the script? I thought there were no copies...

still- i hope it's legit (without the interview of scarecrow)

Yes. Which would technically mean anyone claiming to have insider info was wrong. ;)

Be nice if it was legit though.

I like the idea of the Scarecrow being consulted by Bats and Gordon in Arkham, its sounds kind of like the Calendar Man scenes from TLH.

Murphy was signed on for two sequels for a reason, I bet. It would be cool to see him get loose again in the third film and maybe help Two-Face in a mob vs. freaks type storyline.

Also (if true) I hope this doesn't mean Kevin Costner will play Dent.

I really like the direction of where they're going with the Joker if it's true...the whole revenge stuff is awesome.

A lot of people get that wrong. Some think Ra´s ordered that murder, and he didn´t. It was actually a setback on his plan, cuz it set the rich and powerful in motion to help the city.

Exactly. He says it very plainly in the movie. "We underestimated certain of Gotham's citizens... such as your parents. Their deaths galvanized the rich and the powerful into action, and Gotham has limped on ever since. We have come back to finish the job."

Sorry for the added emphasis. Those lines sound so... comicky, I tend to imagine how certain words would be emphasized in the lettering process for dramatic effect.

:D

Well, we also have to remember that this film has been in a lot of flux. They've been working out what THE DARK KNIGHT would actually be, so I wouldn't be shocked if they toyed around with many different ideas.

Furthermore, there was the early presentation they made to Warner Bros. way back when (before anything was official), and they may have had a very early treatment prepared just for that, and then progressed on to something very different.

Good point. We'll just have to see. :)

One thing I've been thinking about - will they be putting out casting sides for minor roles at places like Showfax? I've used it before to get spoilers for TV shows.

Long shot, but they do put some out for big films: http://www.showfax.com/project_selection.cfm?l=1&t=3

Hmmm. I don't know how much truth there is to all of this. Seems like very general predictions that we've been making from the beginning, just with a few changes.

I like how the Joker sounds...and this tenament building climax we keep hearing about? I can't wait.

How are you guys buying this? There have been no mentions of Wilkinson and Murphy returning... Maroni AND Sionis not it this? I kinda doubt that... Joker as a mobster getting bsed and all is kinda cool but the Penguin involved in a role like that? When Nolan doubted Penguin would have a role? And Bullock just randomly being thrown in there? Total fan made predictions... good effort though...

did nolan not say that the jokers origin in the film would be told in a way similar to batmans origin in begins? this version explains the backstory in like one scene at the beginning. i dont believe this to tell you guys the truth...those 2 posters could be the same person...but if this was true i would have no problem with it..but if joker is knocking off carmine falcones men then falcone better be in the movie.

plus they would be killing continuity if the scarecrow was already captured at the start of tdk...general movie goers would be like...when did that happen? plus they're throwing away a potentially crazy scene with an insane scarecrow vs. batman.

I find this hard to believe. Goes against every other previous report from insiders that The Joker will be a very mysterious character. Seems like everything is spelled out here.

I honestly don't know what to believe at this point. A lot of these ideas sound really cool though, whether or not they are real or fake.

Wow this sounds really cool (if true). I could really see Heath Ledger playing this kind of Joker. I hope for the most part that he is portrayed the way it says in the review on the first page. But I think will be getting something different from Christopher Nolan, though I think it will be just as good or better than this.

If this dosen't turn out to be true then I have to hand to the person who came up with those idea's. They are alot better than that one on the other thread.

More from BOF and Jett:-

Let me say this, with all due respect to whomever "leaked" it -- Nolan and co. are being SUPER secretive in regards to the script. Also, if the scriptment did leak, it would have appeared in one of the bigger sites ASAP -- not via a message board.

http://p088.ezboard.com/fbatmanonfilm81780frm18.showMessageRange?topicID=1549.topic&start=21&stop=39

To be fair, Jett isn't referring to himself when talking about bigger sites. Whenever he knew plot points in BB, he never mentioned them, he was only interested in reporting crew and casting. He's also right - IF there was a script leak, it would be on a site like Latino Review, Dark Horizon OR the Stax Report (on Filmforce) first before a message board.

^ True, but lets not forget the wall of silence WB has apparently brought down on these such sites.

It sounds cool, but it could have been easily made up too with enough imagination. Hats off to the thread starter though, as the place has been boring as hell without major news and we need SOMETHING to talk about.

Cool or not, given what Jett said, it sounds like it's bogus.

Shame, but hopefully TDK will will be these ideas x100. ;)

Exactly. Which is why I would not be so quick to dismiss what Miranda found.

I e-mailed Latino Review about this days ago, asking for a confirm/denial and they have been totally silent. Which is interesting.

Now of course it may just mean that they don't give a damn about my question. But it could also be that they are really being pressured not to say anything.

This is also why Jett has been unable to say anything worthwhile. WB seems to have dropped the iron curtain on him.

All I can say is that I remain very curious...

Yeah, since I'm sure Jett knows alot about what TDK's story is :whatever:.

Could be real, could be fake, as far as I'm concerned.
