Season 2, Episode 7-9 (Spoiler Thread)

Speechless.

That was ****ing amazing and incredibly hard to watch. Can't imagine they'll top this next week, but I'm so grateful for what this show has done.

It even lines up perfectly with the Rebels episode. The early speech we hear there was broadcast (and thus presumably edited) by the Empire, so they can easily diverge there.

Then the one she does on the ship comes after the episode.

I will say, Bix GTFO does give me hope that some of the more secondary characters make it. Luthen is absolutely dead though, and given some of the remaining images we have left, getting a good idea of how he goes.

Rebellions are built on hope.

Phenomenal 8 & 9 episodes.

Some of the best SW content we've had in a long time.

Can't wait for the finale next week.

It sticks out to me a lot here because of the few shots people take in this episode, but I love how heavy this show makes the laser blasts feel. They're sci fi streaks of light, but damn when he shoots the driver it feels just as impactful as a sudden bullet.

Was disappointed by Britell being busy (and still am) but thought Roberts cooked with these

Yeah, his style is noticeably different and he did pretty good in the first arc, but he really brought it in these last couple of arcs, especially in episodes 7-9. Even if it wasn’t intentional, Nicholas Britell having to gradually step back and Brandon Roberts taking over more and more of the composing duties kind of works with the transition from what the show has sounded like and transitioning into the more of a traditional sound the closer we get to the events of Rogue One. Also, thematiacally, it fits with the Rebelion’s gradual rise and formation.

This is the most dangerous blaster fire has ever felt in Star Wars thus far. I wonder if it has something to do with the sound mixing and if they’ve added anything into the regular sounds to give them a bit more heft and weight. Anytime an enemy has a blaster in a scene, it just feels more visceral for some reason and I’m always concerned or worried for our characters.

If they hadn’t taken that approach, I don’t think the Ghorman Massacre would have hit nearly as hard as it did.

These last two episodes definitely were the best ones so far.

And as someone mentioned, it’s amazing how he’s bridged the PT with the OT with those senate scenes.

A minor nitpick, but I absolutely hate they used our swear word s***. It definitely doesn’t fit into the Star Wars world and took me out of what was an intense scene. They should’ve come up with a fake Star Wars swear word (I get the Star Wars equivalent “poodoo” would’ve been too silly).

But look, I hated when Poe said “big ass door” in Last Jedi as well. Some things just don’t belong in this world lol
