Supergirl Season 3, Episode 15: "In Search of Lost Time" (SPOILERS)

I don’t like Lena keeping Sam prisoner. Reign has been the best thing about season 3, they should give her as much scree time as possible.
Well they can't just let her run around wreaking havoc for several episodes 'til the showdown. This is an effective way to keep her off the streets but still part of the story, imo.

Well, I guess that's one way to go about this, Lena.

That was satisfying, but I wanted it to continue a little longer. She really only made it through the first 3rd of S2 worth of complaints, lol.

It makes it a throw away episode IMO.
Not really, it's a HUGE development for her. This is the first time she's learning what she is. The eps where she's just randomly out there killing criminals/playing with Ruby is more throwaway than this, imo.

Fair enough, but it doesn’t get her any closer to assembling the World Killers.

It'd take a whole episode to get through those complaints lol. Which kind of just reinforce how badly they did their relationship.

Could they not just put a power dampener on J'onns dad?

I really wish this all could've been done in their martian forms.

Forget cape fights. All you need to solve your psychic problems is a quick pep talk from Kara and a set of cuffs.

Is it me or does this sky/flying scene look more CGI'y then normal?

I think it was, yes.

And ha. No more apologies? That's like saying 'No more secrets' on The Flash. Won't happen. Or, at least, not for long.

And my God, that scene of Kara and Mon-El flying side to side was awful. I mean, usually the flying looks pretty good, but that one scene there was terrible.

That last Kara/Mon-El convo felt like the new showrunners acknowledging that they weren't really on board with the old showrunners' version of their relationship, lol.

Yeah, those white martians always strain their budget. Guess it ran out by the end scene. :oldrazz:

Well, the trailer for this ep made it look better than it was. Which is...weird for the CW, lol. Still a good ep, though.

Things I liked:

-The Lena/Sam scenes were the best part of the ep, imo. Glad we're finally getting down to brass tacks on that, and Katie and Odette play off each other beautifully.

-Mon-El's suit!

-I am SO GLAD Kara didn't back-peddle on all the truth she spouted at Mon-El. It was all on-point and was long overdue. And as I mentioned above, it felt like the new showrunners acknowledging the stuff about their relationship that didn't work last season, and that gives me more confidence that they know what they're doing on this front. I can get on board with this Kara/Mon-El friendship, and I hope it stays in this arena.

-I always like seeing the gang just hanging out and having fun, so I was glad to see them continuing to have game night. That opening sequence created a false sense of this being a quirky fun episode, lol, not that I'm complaining about the change.

-While I'm not thrilled that this M'yrnn storyline is a thing, I can't deny some of these scenes are tugging on my heartstrings.

-Nice to see them back to acknowledging the Blight as a race. Still don't know how exactly Pestilence has evolved into that, but I'm intrigued to see how that's handled.

Didn't like:

-As I said, the M'yrnn storyline just feels unnecessary, and the whole "he makes everyone attack each other" felt like max-filler material.

-Cape fighting. LOL.

-Would be nice to see Alex/Kara acknowledging Lena and Sam's absence considering the major crisis they know Sam is going through.

-James and Lena still have negative chemistry.

Overall, I liked it slightly better than last week just because it was nice to get back to the Reign plot, which is definitely a highlight of this season. BUT I was still expecting a bit more from the trailer.

This and last week were like the calm before the storm. Last week focused on Winn and tonight focused on J'onn. It's the calm before the storm before they resume their pursuit of the Worldkillers.

This capefighting makes Supergirl look ridiculous.

The Kara/ Mon-El relationship has taken an honest turn under the new showrunners.

The only development here is that Sam learns of her other self as Reign.

I do like the end where Supergirl and Mon-El fly together in their suits, much like Supergirl and Superman did last season.

How much you want to make a bet the season will come down to a World Killer charging Kara, only to have Kara say, “Toro” while pulling off a cape trick?

I love this episode. The parallels between Sam's fight with her inner problem and M'yrnn's fight with his inner problem were so beautifully drawn. That's excellent writing. And the story tackled a heartwrenching problem so many families face.

Odette's acting was superb. That scene was a great, tragic way for Sam to find out about herself.

Well done.
