Robert, Ned and the Small Council are, but Stannis had been gone from the Capitol by then for at least a month and was hold up on Dragonstone gathering his forces.
I am 90% sure the Small Council was aware of Dany before Ned got there, which means in all likelihood Stannis knew she was still alive. And have Dany and her dragons never come up in any of the chapters surroundiing Stannis, Mel and Davos?

I don't doubt that Stannis knows that Dany lives in Essos, and he broods in ACOK that Robert always mocked him for not capturing her and Viserys as children, but for all Stannis knows Dany could be ****ing herself out in Lys or begging on the streets as a means to survive and not in any real position of power.
She actually doesn't get mentioned in any substantial way in those chapters. You'd think she would, because ASOS main Dragonstone plot is directly about Melisandre trying to sacrifice Edric Storm to hatch a Dragon from stone like Azor Ahai did in legend, and it would either break or make Melisandre's argument, but they never mention the fact that Dany has already accomplished it. Word of the dragons doesn't really reach Westeros in a widespread way until about AFFC thereabouts when sailors report on her taking Meereen.

The whole Stannis/Renly thing is the one thing that bugs me about Brienne. Generally, I love her character. But I don't understand her undying loyalty to Renly for being "the rightful king" when he sure as hell wasn't. She pledged undying fealty to him because... he was nice to her once. I mean, really? Stannis might have been a prick, but he was technically the rightful heir to the throne and he was a better leader than Renly.
Technically Stannis is the brother of a usurper. Not the rightful king.
Jon is the rightful king since he is the son of Prince Rhaegar. If Jon doesnt get the throne it goes to Dany.
The Targs created the united realm and the throne. Its theirs as long as a Targ is alive. Stannis was as much a criminal as all the other pretenders. So really Renly had as much right to the throne as Stannis... none. Stannis should have recognized the fact that his brother was a usurper, secured the throne for Dany, and he himself should have taken the position of defender of the realm.
Someone posted a tweet elsewhere from GRRMSpeaks (the twitter handle)
saying Jon's parentage rhymes with "Shmatelyn Shmark and Shobbert Shmaratheon." They claimed GRRM went back and deleted it. Could've been a troll, though.
I thought people know that he is. Everyone knows about Dany and she's bee referenced. No one talks about him (which they should if he's assumed to be alive), bc he's dead.
Because this is not the "book readers" thread. If I can avoid it, Id rather not spoil it for the people that don't read the books or know about old theories. Which are more people than you might think.

As far as I can remember, in the novels the only ones in mainland Westeros who mentions that Viserys is dead are Joffrey off handledly and Doran when talking about his own plot. Certainly no one on Team Dragonstone mentions anything about him or his sister, and Stannis is prone to talk about his Targaryen family so he had ample opportunity to mention it to Davos but never did.
