Season 6, Episode 8 "No One" Discussion Thread

I have one question regarding Jon's resurrection. Do you think there will be any consequences for him regarding that? We know from the Brotherhood that when a man gets brought back, a part of him is never the same. Will this affect Jon in any way?

I've also expected him to have more interaction with Mel ever since she brought him back.

Oh well, I guess we will have to wait and see.

Jon has only been brought back once. Beric was brought back multiple times and was still himself. It'd take a lot more resurrection before Jon really started to change.

Does anyone believe like I do that the 3 eyed raven was always Bran and that he was simply a future version of himself sent back to try to fix a mistake he had made? Perhaps even going further back and affecting the timeline as early as the building of the wall?

I read that theory as well. It's plausible, but i guess it could be a show only thing.
In the books, the 3ER is a Targaryen Bastard from a long time ago( he is Maestre Aemon's great uncle)

But I can see it being that way in the show. Specially after the 3ER says "now is the time for you to become me".

...Nope, again.

He can't 'become me' when 'me' and the tree he was in just got destroyed.

we also have the stories from old Nan who said that all the Brandon Starks were of the same mind or something similar to that. Not to mention that Jojen said Bran was the Raven. It was there that we learned that the power of greensight allows people with the gift to enter each others dreams and share thoughts.

Sure he can if he transfers all his memories into him. He wasn't "him" until he experienced all that the old one had experienced.
If you believe the idea that all we are is the sum of our experiences.

Hmm I didn't know about the books saying who he was. Was that definitive or a rumor? I guess I should probably read up on that.
Also the 3 eyed raven told Bran that he had been waiting on him for 1000 years. Wouldn't that make him a lot older than Aemon's great uncle?

It's outright stated that he is Brynden Rivers, the Targaryen Great Bastard known as Bloodraven. It's not even in question.

Wasn't there a rumor that he was gay too? or was that some fan theory i saw?

Yup, D&D confirmed it. Which isn't much different from a fan theory.

Brynden,Brandon hmm. Why would he lie to him and tell him he had been waiting that long for him then? Did he project his spirit back in time and stay? Why would Jojen tell Brandon that he was the raven before he had even went to the tree?

The character that we see, is the figure from the Dunk and Egg novellas, Lord Brynden "Bloodraven" Rivers. The son of Missy Blackwood and Aegon "The Unworthy" Targaryen. The guy who killed his brother Daemon Blackfyre and saved the Targaryen dynasty while ruling as both Hand of the King and Master of Whispers. It's apparent in the novels, and GRRM and those close to him have confirmed that the Three Eyed-Crow/Raven is Bloodraven.

IIRC, Jojen never tells Bran he IS the raven... just that he saw the Raven.

edit : actually, you are right, he does say 'the raven is you' but i think in context it is different than saying it is actually the guy we see in the tree,

I would say it's unfair to expect a crazy old tree man, watching the history of the universe replay on loop constantly while he's high on greensight and weirwood magic for over a century to come out of his trance and be able to tell you what year it is.

Which is a long way of saying, "Creatively it made sense to David and Dan, because they wanted it to happen" and "How may children did Scarlett O'Hara have?" Sometimes butterflies turn into mighty dragons.

when Jojen is in Bran's vision with him Bran is about to shoot the raven with his bow and Jojen tells him that he can't because he is the raven.

i edited my post... you're right, but i think it was more Jojen knowing what he is to become, not saying he is Brynden Rivers.

Can you imagine what will happen if Marg goes completely celibate? Tommen might throw himself from the nearest window. He's always been fond of his pussycat.

She has to be careful about withholding sex to control Tommen though. The Faith Militant has all the characteristics of a patriarchial religion, meaning that if Wife #1 doesn't submit to her powerful husband's desires, they can easily find a scriptural reason for a Wife #2.

Yes, Beric said "each time" he's "a little bit less", and so far, Jon seems less than what he was, but I keep hoping he'll get over it and rise up. Maybe he just needs a taste of battle or a reveal on his true heritage.
