Also, I'm one of the Spidey fans who really got into comics with a married Peter Parker. It's never felt cumbersome or hindering to me. I've never thought, "Wow....he'd be cooler if weren't married".
Good point. Hadn't thought about it from THAT angle...
BUT...I've been reading since the "beginning" of Spider-MAn...I was SINGLE (am happily married now) when Pete tied the knot.
And now thinking back, not ONCE did it cross my mind back then that "
I don't relate to a married Spider-Man anymore." In fact, I still enjoyed Spidey the same as ever. IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE TO THIS KID. I didn't stop reading Spidey and switch to a "single" Green Lantern.
Nor did I ever take down my Larry Bird posters when i was a kid after reading Sports illustrated, finding out that HE was married. He was still one of my heroes. "Marriage" has officially never ruined ANY hero of mine!! LOL.......sheesh! (get a grip Marvel!!!!)
In fact...it seemed normal and fine...like a logical progression. I've never found it odd or weird or "offensive to singles".
It WILL make a difference HOWEVER if we go backwards
now, killing MJ. (Which i
don't think she'll die.)
Worse than killing her, is MINDWIPING the marvel world, including MJ, to fix dumb storylines
and "fix" the marriage (but in someway satisfy long-time fans" by keeping her "around" like the little red haired girl.) There will be NO satisfaction in THIS more likely scenario of what they will do.
I've already read (before) when MJ & Pete dated. Done that.
Pete "RE-DATING" his wife and not knowing it is just DUMB. (*please RE-READ that last sentence JQ and anyone else who thinks otherwise.)
Nor do i want to read MARRIED PETE unknowingly date OTHER WOMEN for any reason they contrive. Spidey-wife-cheater is NOT a better option than happily married. Nor is more relatable or natural or logical.
