They handled it [cutting mary Jane from The Amazing Spider-Man 2] so well. And it was so not a personal thing. The first thing that went through my head was ‘Oh God, are they cutting me because of what I did? Did I do something wrong? Was my performance sh****? What’s going on?’ But there was too much going on in the movie, and they said, ‘This is something we want to save for the third film.’ I think it’s really smart of them, and I don’t blame them. If I were in their position, I would have done the same thing. (...) I think so [on whether she'll come back for the next movies], as long as scheduling works. And I can’t wait to see it [TASM2]. It’s going to be a really good movie. It was one of the best scripts I’ve ever read. I’m excited for people to see it, even though I’m not in it!

I look at these and don't see MJ at all. Any incarnation.

Cute girl and has potential, but bad styling if MJ was what they were going for. Never been a fan of Dunst as MJ, but the way that she was styled in SM1 was much better than what they did with Shailene.

Just sayin'.

I could see her as ultimate MJ, but not really 616. Like someone said on the other MJ thread, she just doesn't have that "spiciness" to her look like classic MJ does. Hopefully I don't get asked to define "spiciness", that would be hard lol.

Shailene's a beautiful girl though, no doubt about that.

Lol ouch. I don't mind Shailene, she fits ultimate. I would just prefer it if they went more of a 616 route with the character, and if they are, then I think that there are better choices out there. Gosh. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but please explain to me why that is so ridiculous? No one else is.

And C'mon. If Shailene does come back they could at the very least make her look more like the character. That hair color is all wrong. Too much brown. t:

I decided to discuss it in the other thread that's less about insulting Shailene's looks and more about the character of MJ without resorting to nonstop posting of actresses that have nothing to do with either character or movie.

Honestly, while she doesn't quite give off that 616 MJ vibe, she really doesn't give off a USM MJ vibe either.

USM MJ was VERY reminiscent of 616 Gwen.


If anything, I'd say Webb's MJ was more along the lines of USM Gwen Stacy, who was moreos like 616 MJ, but skewed more towards being modern rebellious "bad girl" (mind the quotes), than a 1960s model/ hard partying "bad girl".

Honestly, I haven't seen any rude remarks about Shailene lately, I just haven't looked that far back in the threads. I'm sure there have been plenty made though, based on how defensive people get about her. I definitely wouldn't be fine with it, she's a pretty girl and it's ridiculous to insult her looks.

I just don't get why people are so hostile just because I'd like to see someone else play MJ though. It's like everyone who suggests anybody other than Shailene is automatically associated with the jerks that said mean things about her. Seriously, the hostility is unwarranted, I think Shailene is awesome. Loved her in the Descendants.
