Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 2

Maintaining equivalent judgment and momentum (of a particular ideology or feeling) across all situations.

To which I say not all situations are created equal. The differences between Singer and this have been noted across the previous pages.

I watched the CinemaSins for the first Predator today as well. First one I have watched in a while. I enjoyed it.

It's far from the disaster some people are calling it. The reviews are so scarce right now that one or two of them can bump or drop the percentage by 3-5%. Once it comes out Friday and the audience reviews it, then you'll know how well or badly this movie is doing.

I saw it. It's definitely a disaster. It's worse than AVP Requiem.

Get outta here. You may think it's a bad movie, but there's just no way that it's worse than AVPR.

It definitely is. It ruins the lore of the franchise. It's incoherent, badly edited and badly shot, and makes no sense. Nothing in this movie makes sense.

It's bloody, gory, and violent, and it uses Alan Silvestri themes. That's about all it has going for it.

I read about the ending. I guess that pretty much killed the franchise for the next decade? I think I'll just have to accept the fact that the Predator series peaked with the first 2 Movies.

It sickens me that a guy who starred in the original movie would write and direct such an ending. It's complete and utter trash. It's worse than fan fiction.

Also, I like Martin Riggs as a character...but you shouldn't make every character some wisecracking Martin Riggs type.

The movie almost feels like it's pandering to what it thinks would be a fun movie for 12-15 year old boys raised on the MCU. "How do we make Predator accessible to the MCU crowd?"

How is it technically.....around a month ago I rewatched AvP:R, and I had to highly brighten my screen just so that I could halfway tell what was going on. I remember having to do that back in 2007 too when I got the DVD.

I don't know how it was even possible, but apparently they messed up the color correction for the home release. I could tell what was going on when I watched it in Theaters, but the dvd release was almost unwatchable. I still have a fan edit at home, that did its best to correct the picture and made it watchable again.

AVP:R was garbage. I actually sort of like AvP. It is a guilty pleasure movie. AvP:R is just...ugh. Unwatchable

I think calling AvP:R a fan film is honestly too kind. It's just...trash. Straight hot garbage on a Summer day, 120 degrees outside, sun shining bright...wind blowing that stink right in your face. Awful.

Let me preface this is just my personal opinion upon first viewing.

Technically I was not so impressed. The dogs kind of remind me of the Hulk dogs from 2003 Hulk. The CG closeup in the action doesn't look all that great. I greatly preferred the Hell Hounds in Predators. They were far more menacing and scary IMO. They looked like things I would not want to go near.

The editing is very haphazard. Like it's not super quick cuts, but at times the editing is awkward like someone shoots something, and you don't understand what the heck just happened and who got shut. I found it somewhat jarring.

I think also, Black didn't understand how to light and shoot the Predators. The Fugitive Predator just looked weird and fakey. Also, lots of blood and gore, but it looked like a lot of CG-ified blood spatter and gore.

One other thing. The action tends to lack any tension, suspense, or oopmhf. A lot of bad slapstick mixed in with the action that doesn't feel very "Predator." Just for example, there's a lot of buildup for a chase with Olivia Munn and a tranq gun. She's winding up and prepping her shot. She finally takes the shot and standing on top of a bus that's also part of the chase causes her to shoot herself in the foot with the tranq.

You know I use to think the Alien franchise couldn't much worse after AVP:R and then Alien:Covenant came along. As bad as AVP:R is Alien:Covenant was damn near insufferable for me to sit through and that is saying something considering I actually thought the first AVP was ok and as much as people hate Alien 3 and Resurrection I'd rather watch those a million times before I have to sit through something like Alien:Covenant again. Maybe that's just me though lol.

I like the first AVP movie enough not to consider it trash. It was a hamfisted modern story that would have done better in the future, on another planet or at least a space station but instead they crammed in this awful story taking place in Antarctica.

Requiem was every trapping AVP managed to avoid in setting it up in modern times on Earth with a sloppy, lazy story.
