Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 2

Consona, was this good movie or good Predator movie?

From what I am getting from your review and critics this is exactly fun comedic R-rated movie with some Predators in it. But that doesnt make it good Predator movie.
You know... Define what's a "Predator" movie. At least to you. Then I can hopefully help...

The 1987 original for me. Predator 2, and Predators.
With such a broad definition, this is "a good Predator movie", yes. I'd say this film is basically Predator 2.5.

I can imagine the mythology being done differently, yet what Shane did was one of the possible roads how to expand it. I'm more interested in what the first and second act brought, rather than what the finale suggested will be the continuation. But who knows what exactly are the plans...

The movie is so bloody, irreverent and over the top, I can see why people might enjoy it. It has a lot of qualities similar to Deadpool.

Deadpool? Dunno. It just felt like Shane Black Predator movie. And I for example enjoyed it much more than Nice Guys, but both have some similarities and obviously his writing and directing style.

See, Consona's take on it seems way more in-line with what the reviews seem to be pointing to. Like..."flawed, a lot of crazy decisions made which don't entirely work, but, it's a pretty entertaining ride".

Which is sort of entirely what you'd expect the second this was announced with Black and this cast. *Shrugs*

Way too much mouth-foaming negativity on this one, methinks. Even if it's as controversial as Iron Man 3 and not as well made to-boot, that's still not "it's Requiem bad". By any stretch of the imagination.

Sounds like it's just a big tonal shift from what we know with McTiernan/Hopkins/Antal. Which isn't necessarily a death knell, if it's a good time on its own esteem. Personally I can't even see how it'd be as dull as the recent Scott Alien flicks - less accomplished maybe, even probably, but at the same time likely more entertaining too.

Plenty of positives among the reviews so far to go with the negatives, and on an actual score level it's still a above Predator 2. A lot of us really dig 2, so...

Chill pills, yay.

It wouldn't be rotten if that was the general review take.

...That's exactly what that review score means. Schlocky lowbrow violent B-grade fun ride without being a total ****-show.

You're ignoring the multiple "it's still the best since the original" takes from these professional types.

No I am not. I just see all the movies since the first have been rather crappy, even if I have enjoyed a few of them. Being the best since the original doesn't make it good.

Also what you described at the start is Deadpool. Except Deadpool adds heart and character, making them legit good movie.

The problem is its not well made. It's edited to hell and back. There are beats and transitions in the action scenes that are confusing and made no sense.

I thought screenplay-wise, the first two acts were sooo fricking good, the plot, the characters, those jokes!, the pacing, everything, had a blast. But then you except "the finale", you know, like the "Predator" breathtaking finale, and it's just PREDICTABLE SPOILER a cool brutal action scene with a huge upgraded predator. /SPOILER SPOILER Plus that utter crap at the very end, omg. /SPOILER

The first film did something magical and captivating, apart from the brilliant McTiernan's direction, that clash between a caveman and an alien super-hunter. It felt archetypal and mythological or something. You need try harder to get something as iconic as that, or at least something more meaningful and interesting. A better third act would have made this the best Predator sequel, easily. Yea, some action moments were confusing, but overall, the crew alone was so entertaining, I'm considering seeing it at the cinema again.

I just can't bring myself to see this. The trailers alone were extremely bad, just makes the movie look like a poorly made joke, the last one had the poorest choice for music. Looks like a one of those movies created The Asylum or something..Sharknado. A Predator movie should not be Jokey. just my opinion. I will see it but I wont wasting my money at the theater.

I still think a good movie would have been Arnold's character hears about missing people in some small city in a country with lush jungle. Gets a few guys together goes over, blood, killing, one poor taste joke..move blood, killing blah blah blah.end of movie ends up with Arnold waking up falling with a parachute.. setting up another movie.

I don't mind some levity, but I don't like the idea that a Predatror Movie can be a contender for best comedy of the year.

I also have a hard time believing this is AvP:R bad. AvP:R doesn't even look like a professionally made movie at times. It's like a Sci-Fi original movie level. I don't see anyway this can be that bad.

Critics Consensus: The Predator has violence and quips to spare, but its chaotically hollow action adds up to another missed opportunity for a franchise increasingly defined by disappointment.

Can someone pm me the ending or post in spoiler tags
what's so horrible about it

and I too can't believe it's worst than AVP:R that was just pure MIERDA

I will continue to post those numbers. You're not my boss. You can always choose to ignore posts about critics/user review scoring for it.
It's not about me specifically. It's about promoting this mindset that those numbers matter. They don't.

?? of course they do like it or not those scores matter to the average joe who budgets for movies and helps them choose which ones to go to and which ones to wait for home release

Rottentomatoes is nothing more then a conversation starter at this point, live by the opinion that matters most which is yours

But it's all bullcrap. Those numbers won't tell you whether you will or not enjoy the film at all!

It matters to some. I don't even go by RT scores myself really, but it is a source for conversation. Again, if this is a conversation you don't wish to participate in, then you don't have to. Ignore those posts. But the world doesn't revolve around what you think is/isn't worth discussing. So I will continue to post the scores as I please.

At the very end, guys in a lab open a casket with a predator technology, there's a thing inside that works like the MCU techno-nano-total-nonsense. You have a bracelet that creates a full suit of armor on you with guns and all. Totally ruins the feeling of the universe. Since that point, basically welcome to a fairyland. This has nothing to do with "high-tech" or "science", it's a pure fantasy. Eh.

and I too can't believe it's worst than AVP:R that was just pure MIERDA
Stop worrying about this nonsense.
