Shane Black Directing Predator Sequel! - Part 2

It matters to some. I don't even go by RT scores myself really, but it is a source for conversation.
So they can go visit RT and start talking about it here if they want. What you are doing is you post those numbers on like every page and there's nothing interesting this brings into the discussion, only some "omg, I cannot believe it's this bad" gossip level stuff.

I am updating the number. If it goes up, I would be posting that too. We have a million RT threads that do the exact thing I am doing on this site. It is 100% on topic for this thread. You need to be less sensitive.

But it's all bullcrap. Those numbers won't tell you whether you will or not enjoy the film at all!

agreed but it will inform some on what money they are willing to spend on a movie and ones to miss

thatnks for posting that spoiler and yeah that sounds like complete GARBAGE

At the very end, guys in a lab open a casket with a predator technology, there's a thing inside that works like the MCU techno-nano-total-nonsense. You have a bracelet that creates a full suit of armor on you with guns and all. Totally ruins the feeling of the universe. Since that point, basically welcome to a fairyland. This has nothing to do with "high-tech" or "science", it's a pure fantasy. Eh.

Was that english?

I have seen Predator like a million times and very recently. This new one has put me in the mood to rewatch Predator 2 and Predators for the first time in years. I was either doing that, or I was going to start the Return of the Living Dead trilogy. I finally got Part II on blu ray, and I have only ever seen the 1st one. I may save those for next month, though. It being October and all.

Definitely check out Predator 2 again, S-F. Watched it about a week ago for the first time in probably 15 years, had a blast. Paxton's rad, Glover's always a bunch of fun. Crazypants Gary Busey, a bunch of coked-up Colombians, and King Friggin' Willie. :applaud

"Dis is dread, mon. Truly dread."

As for The Predator, that quoted ending/setup does sound mind-bogglingly lame. But ehh, Consona's take is sort of what I expected, a lighter/breezier action-comedy that's not scary in the way the originals were, but is full of crazy wacky vulgar Black characters and has a lot to offer in that respect.

Sounds fine to me. If I enjoy this to about the extent of Predators, that's going to be a plus. Probably just a different type of experience - Predators was safe & by-the-book and competent-but-a-little-bland, whereas Black's probably just run off in a completely different direction and maybe taken it too far but at least delivered something hilarious & weird and over-the-top Robocop violent.

Which...hell, bring it on. "Bad-fun" isn't anything to be ashamed about. I love my McTiernan tone as much as the next guy, but at the same time you want Shane being Shane, if he's in the hot seat directing the ****er.

Crass & bloody & full of special forces guys from the funny farm + Shane Black script + ridiculous uber-predator trying to kill a little savant kid. Plenty of people are going to go along with that for 2 hours with a grin on their face, guarantee it.

I have always like Predator 2. Yeah, it ain't Predator. But the movie is good fun and uses its environment in a creative way. Predators is mindless fun, but it outright steals bits from Predator (and admits it).

I am guessing he means
that they find some armor that is like the Iron Man Mark XL. Or something like that based on what he said.

I have not seen the movie, so I cannot definitively say that is what happens. But that was my take away.

Yea I still don’t understand what happens at the end.
  • The Fugitive Predator stole a weapon.
  • He tries to bring the weapon to Earth to give humanity a fighting chance.
  • The weapon is called the Predator Killer.
  • It's a high-tech nano armor, like Ironman wore in Infinity War.
  • It gives the wearer the appearance of a Predator, including metal dreadlocks.

Got my tickets for tonight, not sure what I'm going into. But I'm VERY curious as to how this is going to play in the theater. Eager to see what others around here thought of it too after tonight.

I'll have to wait until Friday night to see it since I'm working tonight.

I don't care about being spoiled for this movie...
Any particular reason why he's helping the humans?

So dumb. Don't tell me the movie ends with a "badass" shot of the
HumaPredator.

I guess I wasn't really expecting a high mark for it. I don't know much about this one but will be interested to see what they do. The hero characters and their chemistry are really important IMO as that is a massive part of the long term appeal of the original Predator for me.

The mark is actually even lower now, LOL!

Take this franchise out to the back and give it the Old Yeller treatment.

I'm seeing this tonight and White Boy Rick tomorrow, I can't freaking wait, this looks like a great time, I've liked Shane Blacks out put recently and I'm one of the few Iron Man 3 defenders. The first Predator is an absolute classic and the rest are good fun, hopefully this one is also a good time.

I don't love Iron Man 3, but I can defend that movie as well. I can't defend this one.

EDIT:

Sorry about TP, there was a forum technical issue.

Ugh... Why on earth would it

Include the dreadlocks? what are those? weren't they part of the predators body? what do they do? is it ever explained?

You don't know how the numbers apply to anyone's individual taste. I certainly don't live by them, but they have always been a decent roadmap for what I want to see in theaters and what I should wait for at home.

Also, you act like they are something evil. All it is, is an aggregation of reviews from critics.

I'd say it happens in most film threads. I have posted them myself on occasion.
